As someone who listens to a lot of rock music, I appreciate you doing this video. Thanks for breaking it down so simply.
Your explanation of the intervals, scales, and modes combined with the use of patterns is super helpful.

more lovely stuff! my feeling is that a rock bass line should always try and be a memorable riff in its own right - give the band & the audience something to really latch onto

I know this is off topic but thought I'd share my new strings on the UBASS. I added flat wound strings from Gallistrings and got an upright sound. It's a bit of a different sound out of the UBASS.

Great lesson by Dan for I try really hard to understand all the flats 5ths n 7th. Love the mentioning of when to do your fills like Dan said on the 4th bar etc.

Dan, mate your an excellent bass teacher. I have been l playing for 42 years, but wish I had been taught your lessons when I was learning to play (as I still am, because learning never ends) because you can never know it all. Thanks Dan for what you do, I have learned some new things that I hadn`t known before. Thanks again mate & nice bass too, It`s sounds great & looks equally great.

@@OnlineBassCourses I think a lot of people do, maybe it takes a while for people to realise that you are covering it. I could happily zoom into styles of great rock legends like John Entwhistle or Geezer Butler, would be really interesting. I think Geezer was a solid minor pentatonic guy in the early days!

Hi Dan! I really love your lessons. You are a great bass player and great teacher and I really have learnt a lot from your videos and materials and I am so thankful for that. I have been playing bass for 16 years now but I still come back to your videos to upgrade my vocabulary and to learn something new I missed in the past and you really do help me, brother in bass! Why don't you do some lessons on extreme metal playing like black metal, death metal etc., some technique stuff like tapping or other cool techniques and some lessons with learning rock and metal songs and/or riffs and do few tempos in your videos and show the tabs because one thing that lacks in your videos is playing from slower tempos to faster tempos and showing the tabs on screen so you can play to that and it would be cool if you consider that, Dan! It would make your lessons much more approachable for beginners and be comfortable also for more advanced players like me, and not only black metal and death metal but some country, soul, jazz and prog rock would be cool if you explained the genre, explained what is used the most there, show us some riffs and basslines and teach us a song with tabs on screen. It would be freakin' cool, mane! I love your lessons and I know it would upgrade your lessons 666%, Dan. Think about it. And think about the ideas I gave you with the genre stuff, songs learning stuff, tabs on screen and tempos from slow to fast, technique lessons witch more advanced stuff like tapping and it would be cool if you explained some things slower and not go so fast because sometimes I feel that you just play your improvisation and we can't follow that and sometimes I don't understand the reason why you play something in that scale/mode and why you play like this and what you play because you play too fast and you don't show tabs on screen. Really think about it, my friend. I love your lessons but it would really be awesome if you would do it and if you would consider my lessons ideas. I recommend your channel and website to all my friends that learn bass and now my girlfriend, well, fiance, will start her bass adventure and journey so guess what I will show her? onlinebasscourses with my favourite Dan Hawkins!!!!!!!! Love you, mane. Keep it going! And consider my ideas and things what I said about making your lessons better and easier and maybe no one ever told you that so I will be the one who told you about these problems. But don't think I don't appreciate what you do. Yo do a great effort and you keep us busy. THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!!!
