Hello and thanks for the video. You are correct that in Europe most national airlines now charge Y passengers extra for catering (although some may provide a free bottle of water). My only complaint with SIA's regional catering is its use of cardboard boxes ... such a downgrade from the time when SIA served meals on proper trays with metal cutlery. Some months ago SIA was trialling these cardboard boxes on long flights to, for example, London, Mumbai, Sydney and San Francisco. But so many travellers complained about the catering downgrade that the CEO said that the normal catering service would be reinstated !
You shoud have informed the crew/given feedback about the dirty tray table as they would have compensated you with something...or at least so that they are aware that the cleaning staff have to be more attentive.

I don’t mind the cardboard boxes on short haul flight, but on long haul? That would be a total bummer😱

No excuse for not having ground staff properly prepare the aircraft. After all this flight departed SIA's base.
