I've got a friend who had been fat for pretty much his whole life. He had low self-esteem, low self-confidence, and he was depressed. He struggled talking to women, he struggled talking to anyone really. He decided one day he'd try to get in shape. He lost I want to say about 80-90 lbs and suddenly his whole demeanor changed. He became confident, outgoing, found a girlfriend, and he was much happier. I'm not saying that's the only thing someone would have to do, or that it's even going to do the trick, but it worked for him.
I know some who have done the same thing and I I have to say that a few of them turned out to a become some of the worst pricks that I know. it's as if physically changing themselves gave them the right to act like an asshole to everyone else who looks like the way he use to look. You would think he would be more kinder to anybody who is struggling with weight the way he use to be. But nooooo, the guy is an absolute prick and acts like he's proud in being such an asshole. It's to the point where if he ends up getting his ass kicked for acting like such a prick, I will not feel bad for him.

Hear me out on this aside: Just to clarify, it's really SJWs and soft liberals that constantly get offended on behalf of minority groups. I'm a gun-loving, anti-capitalist farmer. Rather, I used to be a farmer. I've seen the stratification of the market (crony capitalism) in food production and elsewhere in which monopolies put local providers out of business across the board (often with help from governments they manipulate). On a broader scale, multinational corporations use exorbitant amounts of money to manipulate governments of 3rd world countries to provide cheap labor for themselves. The people of these 3rd world countries are kept in poverty and our jobs are outsourced for sweat shop labor (in all aspects of production in late stages). I'm anti-capitalist because this is a natural progression of a system based on perpetual growth and short term profit calculations. Yes, greed is a part of our condition anyway but the answer is not to codify it into what drives the means of production, whilst calling it freedom. The temporary freedom of early capitalist markets with stable competition (prices kept low and wages high) quickly becomes crony and the freedom is gone. I'm not a communist either due to dictatorship of the proletariat, just someone who can at least correctly identify the problem. The answer would have to be a modern adaptation of agrarianism because it is self-sustaining and allows us to live a symbiotic relationship with our environment. But power in markets and fortune 500 companies working in tandem with governments prevents such a thing.

There are non-stop flights between Auckland New Zealand and Santiago Chile. The flight takes takes about 12 hours. On a globe Earth, the travel distance is about 6000 miles, which means the speed of the plane is about 500 mph. That also happens to be the approximate cruising speed of most international passenger airplanes. On a flat Earth, the distance between those two cities is about 14,500 miles. To cover that distance in 12 hours, the plane would have to be traveling at a speed of 1200 mph, or Mach 1.5. That's around 2.4x the rated speed of those planes.

A friend of our family used to always pipe on about how God wasn't real and everyone that believes is just brain washed. Then on his 75th birthday was diagnosed with cancer, then 2 weeks later he got baptised. All of that shit he had been spouting at others for all of those years only to go against all he believed when he was knocking on heavens door. It taught me that people say any old shit when they are healthy, but when the shit hits the fan you hold on to any hope you can. Life is a gift, never be in a rush to return it.

It's almost like under any other circumstance you'd believe him? The problem is, you can't prove a flat earth any more than you can prove a round one. To answer Bill's loaded question, they lie to replace science with God, but I suspect he already understands this. If there was a video of an ice wall, how would you know it? Not just NASA, but every space agency has been caught unequivocally manufacturing evidence. So if they manufacture evidence, what are they hiding?

I'm trained in celestial navigation. I have to use SPHERICAL TRIG to reduce my sights. If it was flat, I could use regular trig. Also if the Earth is flat, why is the shortest distance between two points an arc? Great Circle routes would be stupidly longer than they needed to be.
I've only ran into 2 of them in person, but if you do, just simply ask them how a beautiful sunset works. Where the clouds are reflecting the pinks yellows and oranges from the bottom. Watch them walk away.
They never answer the question directly of course, they ask a follow up question that you can also answer easily and think it's some kind of gotcha. They actually think their arguments are somehow complex and that we don't have every single one of them committed to memory. Meaning spherical because anything round but not spherical would become more oval shaped when looking at different angles. I also like to add that if this is all gods work then he would have to be the primary deceiver in this equation, you know for making space which doesn't actually exist. Speaking of the clouds I have a picture in my phone showing one layer of clouds with no sun on them and the layer above that does. This is fairly rare to happen but I imagine that would break their brains even more.

Secondly, the reasons he listed why the world is flat aren't reasons why the world is flat. They're reasons to doubt the credibility of the world being round. However, doubting the world is round doesn't prove the world is flat. There are much more exact ways to verify this

I've got a friend who had been fat for pretty much his whole life. He had low self-esteem, low self-confidence, and he was depressed. He struggled talking to women, he struggled talking to anyone really. He decided one day he'd try to get in shape. He lost I want to say about 80-90 lbs and suddenly his whole demeanor changed. He became confident, outgoing, found a girlfriend, and he was much happier. I'm not saying that's the only thing someone would have to do, or that it's even going to do the trick, but it worked for him.
I know some who have done the same thing and I I have to say that
a few of them turned out to a become some of the worst pricks that I know. it's as if physically changing themselves gave them the right to act like an asshole to everyone else who looks like the way he use to look. You would think he would be more kinder to anybody who is struggling with weight the way he use to be. But nooooo, the guy is an absolute prick and acts like he's proud in being such an asshole. It's to the point where if he ends up getting his ass kicked for acting like such a prick, I will not feel bad for him.

The people of these 3rd world countries are kept in poverty and our jobs are outsourced for sweat shop labor (in all aspects of production in late stages). I'm anti-capitalist because this is a natural progression of a system based on perpetual growth and short term profit calculations. Yes, greed is a part of our condition anyway but the answer is not to codify it into what drives the means of production, whilst calling it freedom. The temporary freedom of early capitalist markets with stable competition (prices kept low and wages high) quickly becomes crony and the freedom is gone.
I'm not a communist either due to dictatorship of the proletariat, just someone who can at least correctly identify the problem. The answer would have to be a modern adaptation of agrarianism because it is self-sustaining and allows us to live a symbiotic relationship with our environment. But power in markets and fortune 500 companies working in tandem with governments prevents such a thing.

On a globe Earth, the travel distance is about 6000 miles, which means the speed of the plane is about 500 mph. That also happens to be the approximate cruising speed of most international passenger airplanes. On a flat Earth, the distance between those two cities is about 14,500 miles. To cover that distance in 12 hours, the plane would have to be traveling at a speed of 1200 mph, or Mach 1.5. That's around 2.4x the rated speed of those planes.

A friend of our family used to always pipe on about how God wasn't real and everyone that believes is just brain washed. Then on his 75th birthday was diagnosed with cancer, then 2 weeks later he got baptised. All of that shit he had been spouting at others for all of those years only to go against all he believed when he was knocking on heavens door. I'm trained in celestial navigation. I have to use SPHERICAL TRIG to reduce my sights. If it was flat, I could use regular trig. Also if the Earth is flat, why is the shortest distance between two points an arc? Great Circle routes would be stupidly longer than they needed to be.
I've only ran into 2 of them in person, but if you do, just simply ask them how a beautiful sunset works. Where the clouds are reflecting the pinks yellows and oranges from the bottom. Watch them walk away.
They never answer the question directly of course, they ask a follow up question that you can also answer easily and think it's some kind of gotcha. They actually think their arguments are somehow complex and that we don't have every single one of them committed to memory. For one there aren't that many and for another they are all easily demonstrated false by simple observations. Calling their ideas childish is an insult to children.

@@tetrasphere8165 Oh yes I have been down that road before. I usually ask why if God made the earth flat that everything else in the sky is round? Meaning spherical because anything round but not spherical would become more oval shaped when looking at different angles. I also like to add that if this is all gods work then he would have to be the primary deceiver in this equation, you know for making space which doesn't actually exist. Speaking of the clouds I have a picture in my phone showing one layer of clouds with no sun on them and the layer above that does. This is fairly rare to happen but I imagine that would break their brains even more.

The one big hidden thing about science…a lot of the things we believe as fact… aren’t from the scientific method… they are from peer review…to where they agree or disagree it as science fact…and not necessarily by the scientific method. The modern optics of today like the Nikon p900 and p1000 let you see farther across water that physically possible on a sphere…whereas things should start disappearing over the curve at about 2-3 miles while they are seeing objects 40 miles away across water..and the earth can be flat and round…ever seen a kitchen table…because round does not mean a ball or a sphere… we were all taught it’s a silly concept of sailing off the edge…for a reason.. to shame and humiliate anyone who dares speak of it…but we were all taught this from the very start..it’s so embedded in our own identity…,so it is part of who we are and most of us can’t comprehend it being flat. There is a midnight sun at both poles on their respective summers. So basically Earth is a slightly off-axis sphere. Use a flashlight and invent a shape that shows that phenomenon (might be a cool math prize in it if you do).

Secondly, the reasons he listed why the world is flat aren't reasons why the world is flat. They're reasons to doubt the credibility of the world being round.
However, doubting the world is round doesn't prove the world is flat. There are much more exact ways to verify this
The only reason anyone would think the Earth may not be a globe is because they allowed conspiracy charlatans to put doubts in their minds :-|
