Figured out how to make the tool get to the asset folder on SSD. Make a link (shortcut) in Documents directing to your steamapps folder. With the link created, WITHIN the mod loader, browse through Z > home > deck > Documents and it SHOULD show. Then simply navigate to where your asset folder for the game is and make sure you're inside of the folder when pressing ok. At least this worked for me.
You can install mods and still have the game on the SSD if you create a new steam library folder somewhere within the deck/home folder and install the game there. In general, long as the game isn't installed in any hidden folders, the mod tool and the file browser in proton should be able to see it
@@ahaeserus Yes you need to a micro sd card to insert into your pc to make a new steam library folder. Your micro sd card should come with an adapter. Unless you can create the folder from the steam deck. Mine says that it is compatible with microsd, microsdhc or microsdxc. I have the Sandisk brand. You can buy an adapter and a sd card on amazon. It should come with a pack. I brought this long time ago. Now this sd cards are like 100-200 dollars when I use amazon. I was like wow. Lucky I brought extras.
@@ahaeseruspretty late on it but I was able to do it just by going to storage and selecting add a new drive, just put a Steam folder in my documents and moved Spider-Man over.
OMG YES THANK YOU!!! While I don't have a Steam deck, this is super useful for me as I am running Linux on my desktop. I do think I figured out a way to install it on the internal SSD of a steam deck though but I was an idiot on something when doing it on my PC What I did was rename the .steam folder to "steam" without the quotation marks, then ran the modding tool through Lutris, then did the normal thing. Theoretically you should then be able to install it on the normal SSD. Where I goofed up was I accidentally launched steam prematurely, so there was a new .steam folder edit: IT WORKS THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Just make a shortcut to the steamapps and place it in a folder that you can view. Like I did it in downloads, so I would go to the z drive, then home, then Dow loads and the folder will be in there
@The Amazing Spider-Frizz yes I did. Well I only really put one on, a change to one of the costume. Ran into a bit of a hiccup and had to delete a file, instal mod then run the game. The game would make a new file of the one I delete and the costume change was added.
Updated tutorial? My game has a black screen whenever I try to boot the game using the newest version of the mod tool Also, I found a way to circumvent needing yo move it in any way. 1. You need to go into steam and find Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered in your library. 2. Click the settings wheel, and then click manage, and then "Browse Local Files. 3. Copy the file location 4. Go to your desktop, and right click (click with the left touchpad) 5. Go to "Create New", and create "Link to File or Directory" 6. Paste the Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered path into it 7. Once it's been created on your desktop, rename it to anything (I renamed it SMPC) 8. Open the SMPC modding tool, and find your desktop 9. Click ok the desktop shortcut you made from within the SMPC tool, and there's your asset_archive Edit: Newest update seems to have fixed the black screen problem?
It might be possible to do it on the internal storage, but the mod tool uses its own file explorer and I wasn't sure how to see hidden files/folders in there. If someone figures that out then modding on the SSD should be possible.
So what do I do about the recent update? My game won’t start now. I’ve even removed the mods. Still just a black screen. Is the tool messing up my game or something?
When I try downloading the modding tool I keep getting a pop up that says “select an application to open “x-scheme-handler/nxm”. What am I supposed to do?
I Installed the mod tool on steam deck and for some reason few days later once I did a recent update to the game on steam i can’t get my mods to work anymore, the game opens up fine no black screen or crashing. I’ve tried everything I could think of reinstalling both the mod tool and the game that didn’t do anything, I tried replacing the toc.BAK file. I’m really lost with what went wrong would appreciate help very much if anyone have experience on their own download for the steam deck I was seriously loving the mods so far but that didn’t last long unfortunately :/
Hey, you actually did not need to convert with the new 1.1 version! It's way easier and worked for me super quick! Literally just load the mods you want, check mark each one you want loaded into the game (keep them checked, if you want to install any then just uncheck them) and then you're good to go. Now idk what mods you're adding but I added the new main menu music, updated J.Jonah pics, and black symbiote rami suit
@@SinisterSonance Yeah I’ve actually been using the 1.1.1 version and it’s been meh for me at least. Pretty not not working. I’ve had the edge of time suit the amazing spider-man 2 suit and the menu screen becomes red and the colors are inverted, and assets won’t load load properly. It’s simple enough for the raimi symbiote suits since those are simple color swaps but in the case with other mods (the one I’ve listed) the same issue persists. I tried to roll back to 1.0 but suits wouldn’t load properly or if I get too close to it, kind of starts artifacting. Doubt it’s an issue with the mods as other users had no issues but yeah.
The internal SSD files are visible, but the game is located in a hidden directory. In the regular file browser for the steam deck it is easy enough to see hidden folders, but the mod tool uses a different one and I'm not sure at this moment how to view them there.

is it just me or does it take super long to install mods on steam deck? could be because of its installing to the micro sd card, still kind of annoying ngl. I thought my pc was slow with installing mods but steam deck is much worse
