    Met so many boastful people when I've been travelling, and then I see people like you, seem so genuine and not pretending like you know everything. Never had the urge to go to the US but people like you make me think that there are so many cool people I'm missing out on! Random rant but loved your video!

    great vid!
    have a '91 240 DL - first began stalling out exactly 5 years ago today. pulling my hair out here.
    replaced so much to no avail. cps. entire intake restored, oil pump + PCV system entirely new (ridic difficult since I did not remove the front axle to do it), both fuel pumps new (in-tank pump replaced twice just because), new fuel filter, new gas tank with line-x exterior custom-meticulous, new OEM plugs, distributor cap + rotor, new bosch coil, new plug + wires, new air filter, cleaned MAF several times now, new starter, new optima yellow top, cleaned all grounds, 100% fully restored original alternator (by hand), new OEM diesel motor mounts, new engine coolant sensor, cleaned ignition valve, new water pump, new timing, new belts, replaced all inboard fuses, new fuel pump relay, new fuel regulator...
    all my me by hand and more that i simply cannot recall right now - it's STILL STALLING AND HAS A ROUGH IDLE!!!!! god save me. last time i drove it before it stopped starting up (recently)...i noticed that the left (driver's side) headlight beam was very low, but it wasn't like the bulb had fully burned out - seemed really strange. the right headlight bulb was fine, but the other acted like the alternator was dead - which I'm telling you is not the case at all. if the alternator was dead or acting up, then the entire system would behave like that left headlight.
    so question to you: i'm getting a 2-3-4 code on port 6 of OBD check. that's technically a throttle sensor issue. this is a brand new code read. wasn't there before now. i know. nuts. anyway...could the throttle sensor cause engine stalling and also no starts and, to your video's point, could clogged injectors cause the sloooooow stalling that this car typically has - especially when the weather is hot outside? my car doesn't "die" like i turned it off with the key - you're driving along and then you feel this drop in the engine power for a split second....and you think you imagined it but you didn't imagine it - it was very real........and then everything's fine for maybe like 5 seconds.....and then.......yes....it slowly starts dying like you are turning off a water faucet slowly, like you're running out of gas....and then all the dash lights come on and you for sure best not still be in a lane on the highway - you best have gotten off the road during that 5 seconds it gave you as warning. really scary stuff when you're in it and you have kids and other people are flying around you and they have no idea your car is dying.
    huge thanks for any info!
    EDIT: I just sprayed water on all 4 exhaust ports and water evaporated on contact on all 4. appears that none of the cylinders are firing colder than what is normal.

      In LH2.4 cars, I assume it’s 2.4 since you said 91, some Ecus can be at fault, particularly pink label ones, but also check injectors and pressure. As far as the TPS, I can’t say if it’ll cause a stall, I’ve not seen that before

      @@cameronjkramer Hello there. To be honest, I have not had the time or mental stamina since my initial comment above to dive back into the problem. @@240rescue Hello. Yes, the 2.4 is correct. I have read about the ECU as well and will check into this asap. Have not specifically checked the injectors or obtained an accurate fuel pressure reading. Will look into what it takes to perform this. Thanks on this, I’ll check mine. I took my 240 DL in for tires after driving -150 miles just fine. Volvo check my car over as a curtesy and when they gave the car back it was missing at low rpm and sluggish until high rpm’s. I put two bottles of heet into the tank running the tank down hoping if I had some gas water it would move out. Plugs, router, distributor cap and wires are new. I had no problems until I picked up my car . Volvo put on a new air intake tube for 300$ and no positive benefit in performance.

    It would have been interesting to pull the spark plugs for all 4 cylinders and compare them. There are several resources on the Internet that show the spark plug comparisons between and engine that is running rich, lean or properly.

    • @240rescue
      @240rescue  2 роки тому +4

      Good point, I did have all 4 plugs out while doing the initial compression test, but they all looked pretty similar and a healthy color, I think because the misfire was so intermittent and such a new issue, it wasn’t enough to foul the plugs in an obvious way

  • @phillipyannone3195
    @phillipyannone3195 Рік тому +1

    If your fuel pressure regulator was leaking fuel across the diaphragm that would make the first two cylinders run Rich and misfire thus running cool. As far as the injectors go I would like to see how you clean and test flow volume. Good video.😊

    Mine runs great. Once in a while it stalls at a light or when I'm driving. Never know when.
    I thought it was a faulty fuel pump since it's original since 92. Replace both fuel pumps. Great for a few days then stalled at a light. Wait a minute and it fires up with no issues.

    I've had a 240 not running for 4 months, five different mechanics and I have come to rule it down to the fuel injectors but now every shop I go to to ask them to change them out to a remanufactured set is acting dogmatic saying that they never go bad but there were three quarts of gas in my oil just from trying to start it between tests and different mechanics and we changed the fuel pressure regulator and three of the sparkplugs are still fouled and I'm ao frustrated nobody will look at my car for me because "it's too old" or "fuel injectors never go bad". Ugh. In need of a mechanic in the Rhode Island USA area pleeeeaaaaase lol

    I have a question if I may. I've just put our B230FK 940 back on the road after a 10 year hiatus and a cracked cylinder head. We installed a replacement and although the car seems to be running well and giving good power, when it idles there is a slight dip off rpm every fourth beat, if you get me. e.g. say it's idling at 750, it will sharply dip to 700 for a split second and then okay again. Anything like that sound familiar? A new NGK coil was installed (not by me) when getting it going again with Bosch leads, so I'm at least going to get the Bougicord leads and a proper coil and start from there. I've just been slowly working around the car fixing broken stuff so haven't investigated this properly.. yet. Very useful video!

      Failure symptoms usually include loss of fluid, sinking pedal, and/or brake fail light. Bleeding isn’t hard with a power bleeder, but there is a specific pattern you have to follow and old rusted bleeders can snap. I usually hear cycle and soak the bleed nipples for a few days beforehand. I also do at least 2 full bleeds of the system, usually 3
