Excellent video, thank you. Albeit I feel such a twit as I thought I could de-federate within the same tenant. This has made me realise that I will have to cancel the other services (RDS) and create a fresh MS Tenant!. Bugger. Good effort.
Thanks for that. Yes the support can be a long process. GoDaddy do a good job and I respect the business model they have for the Quasi-Hosting option they are benefiting financially from. However, there are so many reasons why you would want your own tenant in MS.
@@thecloudgeezeri have a query, i want to transfer the domain as well to new registrar, so i shall remove the domain from M365 godaddy and then initiate a domain transfer request to another registrar or it is the otherway around. Also after migrating do we not have to add X500 addresses of the deleted account into new one?
Hi. I think the order of operation would be best as. 1. Migrate all your data from the GoDaddy Tenant to a 'real' tenant. 2. Defederate the domain and get it moved over to the new tenant. 3. Then move the domain name to the new registrar. Now I realize that sounds like 3 simple steps, but obviously there are plenty of tasks relating to those items that will expand the to-do list there. Drop me a note to mark@thecloudgeezer.com and we can chat about what you are doing and I can assist further. Mark.
I have a project and I'm new to this and I need to Migrate the Data such as Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, OneDrive and other important data. how to Migrate GoDaddy Office 365 to Microsoft Office 365. Here are my questions: 1. What do I need to migrate, from the first item to the last, before I ask GoDaddy to delete the emails and keep the domain? 2. We have 50+ users, and I want to migrate all their data from GoDaddy to Microsoft. As per my understanding, I need to follow the steps you demonstrated for each user in your videos, such as migrating GoDaddy email to Microsoft 365. 3. Is it ok to have the same domain in GoDaddy and in Microsoft or do I need to have a Temporary domain for Microsoft and change it later on?
Hi. I know you reached out via email, just wanted to respond here to make sure we had covered everything. To anybody else, I am always happy to help out, just email me at mark@thecloudgeezer.com
Great video, I just created an email account for my domain on GoDaddy and I need to get it migrated as we figured that we can't buy the Power BI Pro due to some issues with GoDaddy. Very frustrating. I followed your steps but got stuck on the migration itself (21min in) as I need another email address on Microsoft to do the migration (in your case planeium). Is there a way around that? Thank you
Yes there is, it does depend on whether or not you have managed to extract the domain from GoDaddy. During the migration over, before that, you can use the tenant.onmicrosoft.com domain as the receiver. Feel free to email me at mark@thecloudgeezer.com and we can go into some more depth to help you out. Mark.

Hi Buddy. After the pre-migration is completed, do you just click on Full Migration afterwards to get the rest of the data in? Just didnt know if there was another option to finish migration instead of clicking on full migration.
I've got as far as the migration wiz, within both source and destination I need to enter Client & Tenant ID - something you didn't have to do in your example?
Hi. Yes, since I made that video there have been some changes to the way you create the projects in MigrationWiz. Have a look at this one to explain the new requirements. ua-cam.com/video/zMOgiJizDEs/v-deo.html Have a good weekend. Mark.
I recently set up a GoDaddy domain with an Domain email address. It put me into a free trial of GoDaddy 365. I would like to not renew after the trial and go directly with MS 365. Will I still have to do all of this? I have not used any part of the trial except the email.
Well if you have added your domain into the M365 on GoDaddy then you will need to extract it. Either way, create a nice fresh tenant from the Microsoft site and migrate over what you need. If you need any advice on specifics for your situation then email me at mark@thecloudgeezer.com
I'm stuck on the "Manually Grant Application impersonation in Exchange Online. In powershell, after i entered the 4th prompt "Enable-OrganizationCustomization" the following error message comes out: Enable-OrganizationCustomization: |System.InvalidOperationException|Enabling customization is not allowed because the Organization is currently being upgraded. Please try again after the Upgrade is complete.
Hi. I have seen that appear on some tenants, then after a few days it is complete and the commands run. On a different case though this didn't happen and even after a week the commands would still give the same error. I had logged a ticket with Microsoft in the portal and gave the error. Within 24 hours it was able to run the commands. You can check if 'dehydration' is turned on with the tenant with - Get-OrganizationConfig | fl Identity, IsDehydrated - which can identify if that is the cause. Either way, I would suggest logging it in the portal and let them release it as it is probably stuck.
Not that I am aware of. The CSP models for resale would not allow for that sort of situation. You would need to cancel the GoDaddy licenses and purchase them in the Ms Tenant. This could be an issue if you have a yearly renewal on them and are not coming to the end of the term, but all situations would vary.
We have purchased Microsoft 365 through GoDaddy, and our domain is currently federated with them. Now, we want to migrate from GoDaddy to Microsoft. Our goal is to transfer all Teams data, mailboxes, and other relevant information. How can we achieve this migration?
Hi. You can definitely use the tool to perform the entire migration. I would be interested to chat though and hear about your comment that you are federated with Godaddy. Send me a note to mark@thecloudgeezer.com
Those are handled exactly the same as a normal Tenant to Tenant migration in the MigrationWiz project. You would need to setup the EndPoints correctly, using that M365 Admin account that you obtained in the Email Setup. Basically though, the GoDaddy Source is a normal M365 EndPoint just with a specific login. Hope that helps.
Haha, Good Question, but no I do not work for BitTitan. I used to though, check out my LinkedIn profile to see that. I spent nearly two years as the Principal Product Architect for MigrationWiz. So yes I do have a certain affinity to the MigrationWiz toolset because of that. Mark.
