I’ve been using an mpc since 92 so I’m one of those old school dudes who was banging my head on why they would change the sequencer but you have opened my mind to a whole new world. Appreciate that young man keep making these instructional videos. You got my sub
Probably got 40+ hours with mpc 3 now and I read the whole PDF guide, still learned a few things from this. Thanks man!
You’re showing this the way I wish the older guys would show it. Showing arranger and popping up the piano roll at the bottom while arranger is open at the top seems like such a small thing but it show us younger folk how much 3.0 is like a Daw. (Logic, Ableton, FL) All the older guys miss this in their videos. Even the way you show changing the track from drum program to something else. They show all this info but somehow the pattern they show it is confusing. Because they are still thinking from the perspective of sequences. It’s like they are talking to the old audience telling them what’s new instead of just showing how people coming from a daw would use this. You explain this so well.
Older dudes are too busy hating. 😂. Thinking they lost the ability to aim tracks at different programs. I’m one of the older dudes but I don’t make videos and didn’t like the original work flow at all. 3.0 is fire.
3.0 is cool yes. Hope they fix the problems though. I wish one could insert and remove and copy bars around directly from it and not requiring to go back and forth to the mqin screen to it in the sequence.
Facts and I’m an older fella. It was confusing until now.😅
Facts and I’m an older fella. It was confusing until now.😅
Spot on bro.
As an older gentleman who's only been using an MPC (for the first time ever) for a couple of months now, this just looks so much simpler to use than 2.0 (to me anyway) Excellent tutorial 👍
trust me bro 3.0 is way more simpler and efficient
i agree and don't own one yet
I've only had my live for a month and 3.0 seems like sanity by comparison. So much of the old workflow, while powerful, was an artifact of the old 80s/90s machines. Being able to do the whole song in one sequence like, say, my iPad Logic Pro is so much nicer.
@@Androsynth75 I've just started using the 3.0 today and it really is easier to use than previously. Had a couple glitches here and there but it's a beta, so it's to be expected.
im 58 and have had an mpcx for about 5 years after over 20 years with Logic. Ive literally got close to finishing things with V2, tried V3, freaked out and went back and got loads done. Now after watching this I cannot wait to upgrade again. Ive been pining for an arrange page again since I bought it.
MPC 3.0 is great... and now that I watched this video, it's even better. Thanks!
Damn Jae, I really do not want to switch to 3, still weighing out pro's and con's. Your demo here is testing my will power to the fullest.
U can always switch back, but there is a time period of learning and getting to know the software. The sooner the better you get over that curve
you thinking to deep why not just learn what it has to offer and spend sometime on it , so many producer get caught up in attaching to one workflow and not realize theirs better options if they actually commit to it and for me its a no brainer to always stay up to date
@@BinkyWomack exactly bro , but the learning curve aint that that crazy either
@TeddyRockSteady I would stick to the thing where my beats sound best. Akai understands the average producer will never make it, and they sell us new shit to give us that feeling like this is going to change my beats. Meanwhile, the producer getting placements still using his asr 10 from the 90s . I say master what you got.
@@BinkyWomack is it true if your over 30 it's hard to learn new things/trick
This is a great video. I just got the MPC one + but most of everything still applies. I really appreciate you showing how to start with a clear project.
I was considering buying the maschine plus because the reveiws I watched showed the work flow is much simpler and easier to learn as a beginner, but after seeing v3 on the live I think this may be better. Does the mpc one plus also have this same software change?
Def subscribing to your channel. Clear and understandable explanation of how things work with practical example of making a beat. Enthusiasm and speaking voice top notch.
Thanks.
Jae Fresh you are a true music scientist on the MPC. Thanks for sharing your experience with us
facts, instead of complaining about the old way of doing things this guy evolves. I see this and don't yet own an mpc
Arranger has really elevated my creative flow, i love 3.0
love it 💯
How can I export my arrange to wav? Thanks
@@MarcoBazzu-s6o go to save from the menu section and go to audio mix down
@@JaeFreshmen thanks man you are MPC God!! Peace ✌🏻
Great job on creating a very easy to follow work flow. It was very easy to navigate the program after watching this. Made a decent beat implementing these tips. Appreciate you bro.
I can't wait to get the 3.0! Love your videos dawg.
This is the way!
I literally had zero complaints when it came to using 3.0 other than the bugs it pretty efficient
im sayin
I’m so glad you did this bro!
thanks for tuning in g
Dude, your ears must be burning. I wish I could send you a picture… I set my entire main screen up exactly like yours. I’m watching this tutorial over and over and over.
I know there’s a bunch of teachers out there bro that do this and I’m not gonna play bro I bought my first MPC back in 2000. I got a 2500. I got a 2000 XL… I’ve been in the game for a long time, but the way you teach this bro you got skills I know there’s other teachers out there, but I choose to watch you.
Thanks
much love for showing support
I’m just amazed at your talent! I’m so inspired by you! Excellent video thank you for sharing in such detail! Blessings to you and your family !
This video is much appreciated. I switched to 3.0 but found myself using the same workflow as 2.0. Thank you for the dedication to educating your fellow MPC users!
much respect bro thanks for watching
This video is actually super helpful to get the feel of 3.0 better than just self exploring 🎉🎉🎉
Hey love your channel. I’m a new MPC user (bought one last Nov) and Your enthusiasm for music, beat making and knowledge of the tech is superb. You’re my no.1 go to on all things MPC and beat making.
Ill grab a copy of your e book but I’m waiting for the mpc 3 beta updates
You be having the dopest tutorials 🫡🔈💯👊🏽
thanks g much love
People have been complaining so much about v3.4 that they failed to realize that its the same workflow, but they added it visually. You can make sequence by sequence in the arranger, just like normal. My only issue with v3.4 is they have to fix the mutes. Muting samples shouldn't just cut off the sound like someone turned volume off...the sample should play out then mute like it did on v2.15.
Word Jae i've been waiting for this bruh thank you my good sir, peace
Thank God it saves the key of the project! That was my biggest pet peeve. Liking this vid simply for that lol. Keep up the good work bro
facts bro that was kind of annoying
I already went back to 2.15.1! I didn’t have any problems with 3, I just don’t need it. Maybe later I’ll upgrade.
Mate thanks so much for this. I did already downgrade when I loaded an existing project and nothing worked. All my tracks had become plugin tracks and there was no plugin in the project. I reckon when I go back to 3 I'll be able to change the type of track lolol. We will see !
I want you to know that how you delivered this I was able to actually understand everything you did. I'll watch it again with the MPC next to me. I read the comment below and wanted to say that im 58 and am so happy I understand. Thanks loads Lee, Buslife Records
This was the video that convinced me. Thanks. Looking forward to the next update to see what bugs are addressed. A few I noticed
2.15 allowed you to load old pgms into new projects. Those files are now hidden in 3.0
From the main page, changing the transpose value up or down doesn't change the octave range on a keyboard or on external synths when using the pads
I think this is the “video of the year” I’m just gonna go ahead and say it… I think this is the best video of the year!! UA-cam🥇Awards- --if someone likes something else?- go watch it bruh.

This is the best tutorial MPC 3. Hands-down, no fluff to the point. Word up. You actually convinced me to download 3.0 and play with arranger. When are the track mutes coming?
thanks for watching, i think people are overthinking instead of just testing it
Hands down best Drum System out 💯🔥🔥
forsure
You the 🐐 🔥🔥🔥
That's what's up!! I see you finally getting ya legs with this. I was able to stumble my way through. I still have a few How the hell do you do this moments. Like when you touched the audio to make it seen by the editor. Took a minute to realize that audio tracks can be edited in sample edit. I recorded some keys and I wanted to Normalize it cause it was low. In the arranger you can choose that audio track and hit sample edit and youre there. I was trying to edit it from track edit but there were no options. You have to grab a little help from everywhere. Great video
You always make it look so easy Bro :) Cool track too by the way :)
much appreciated , thanks for watching
@@JaeFreshmen how long have you used the MPC in terms or years or months would you say?
I'm digging 3.0. I was able to feel my way out for the most part, but this helps a lot.
its worth it
That's a dope way to use looper, thanks for the tip!
thanks for watching bro
Super teacher and teachings!
Great video Jae, I can see exactly what you mean especially when you bounce to audio and split the audio. I would like the sequence track mutes back because combine that with this and a song is super fast. Make the meat of the song in song mode, each sequence mutes are remembered like it use to be, then to the arranger for linear fine tuning of everything, that would be almost as fast as you can get. You can still covert sequences to a song but each sequences track mutes are not remembered in 3.0 but I hear they are bringing it back.
thats was straightforward helpful.. Thanks very much Jae
i appreciate you tuning in bro
dawg i cant lie these tips are much needed. TY
Jae.. you a cold 🥶 dude 🔥🔥🔥. Great instructor, great producer 💯
much love bro, thanks for watching💯
Im just a fly on a wall listening while I write some shxt 💯
you are a great teacher!
Good video! I've used both versions of he beta, and have never been the "don't upgrade" guy, but the MPC liberated me from making tracks in a DAW exactly the way you are describing, by copy/pasting parts together while erasing parts as you go.. I now compose/record everything live in track mute mode, and need to be able to have different tracks on every sequence to switch songs while performing - so each sequence contains all the parts of the song. They got rid of this workflow entirely. I like the different track colors, but that's about it. If I want to make music by copy/paste I'd just go back to arranging in Ableton as I already use it with my MPC as a multitrack recorder (not sequencer).
Thank you mate
Don’t give up making videos there absolutely top hole sir
Dude’s videos are always great
much love g
Finally Jae !! Dope video for 3.0 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🫡
thanks for watching g
great video @Jae Freshman, I support the channel and bought your products. Worth the mention that when dropping out drums, on the erase screen, we can hit the "Notes" tab if just wanting to drop out a kick or a snare or whatever...etc.
Show them the light 💡!Great demo! Thanks! 🙏🏿
Always helpful, u and Ave got me rockin out! Preciate ya!
Very well explained thanks
Dope tutorial🔥👍🏾
Good video. I haven't went to 3 because it doesn't really have anything i need. It really just looks different and workflow changes but nothing that really changes an mpc for better.
bro alot has change , you cant just judge it without using it
wow are you a software designer? to know that there is "nothing that changes an mpc"
@@undiablobueno363 I've been producing since 1980 and am a musician that has a full studio full of live instruments. I don't need what some others might. 1 machine doesn't make my ship move or stall.
I also took my first computer courses in 1985 used the vic20, commodore 64, and 128 to make music and started using cakewalk in 1993. My first sampler was the ensoniq mirage keyboard sampler.
Having said all of that, when we were foing hiphop music in the early 80's we had a lot of appreciation for what we could get our hands on, even if it was only a drum machine and a midi keyboard. By standards of today the gear was very expensive. Imagine paying over $3000 for an ensoniq sampler and you make $4.25 an hour.
Times will change, music will only so much, but the reasons ppl use what they do will always very to many degrees. That's why it is called an artform and not a standard.
@@undiablobueno363 it's really easy to understand actually. Nothing done to it will change the outputs nor the inputs nor their capacity. No matter the configuration, a creative will create, this upgrade will not change anything for a beat maker that has been doing so just fine.
Does it have a good metering system? No Vu, Spectrum analyzer, so ppl can mix more solidly. That's just one thing and I'm not crapping on what they have done, i really could care less as it doesn't change my ability at all because I'm not a sample(loop based) producer although i do sample myself playing live into tracks.
The sequence of the mpc is already nice, however, what I'm seeing is still clunky imo. Why do all that in the sequencer when most daws have nice blocks of patterns that can easily be dragged. This attempt is commendable for a drum machine but still primitive for a daw.
@@JaeFreshmen bruh, younger ppl always say alot has changed. Nothing changed that was worth it. Give yourself 30 more yrs to experience music and technology changing.
One day, you will see it for yourself.
great demo of this great mpc 3.0. its a bit expensive for me but im really thinking about it
Incredible overview. helped me a bunch
thanks for tuning in bro
Great video Jae 💯
Big issue with MPC 3 not recognizing the hard drive that I installed in my MPC Live. Seems to be a problem across the board with other users. I hope Akai gets this right. Completely worthless to me at this point because all my sound libraries are stored on that drive 😳
Life saver bruh 💪🏾
Bro thank you! You literally one of the best when it comes to us producers who love the modern workflow 💪🏽 just subbed Ima be back making MPC tutorials too we definitely got to lab on some beats too

i appreciate you bro
That beat is SICK🔥

Great stuff my bro. Many thanks 🙏🏼
Just got my MPC One Plus Friday. Already making full arrangements. Compared to the first time I bought the MPC (which I ended up getting rid of), I'm making much faster progress on songs. I really didn't like song mode. I'm REALLY hoping they bring back odd time signatures for 3.0, though. That was the reason I got rid of my Akai Force and one of the reasons I wanted an MPC again haha.
Man each time I watch this , I learn something more cooler lol
Bro. Why I do not see tempo in my arranger screen. I have a gap between automation button and bars. I can use the pull down and see the tempo. So I am not tripping too bad. I’m on my MPC Key 37.
🎉
Dope. Learning a lot with your video.
grateful to hear that
Great work man!!

Jae how the fucc you got 20k followers man… you need more G. Thanks for this vid I learned things here and there. You are the fuccn man
Yeah, I am good thanks. I cant stand fiddling with touchscreens for music making...not for me. I want my daw experience separate
Man you know I feel the way that’s why I decided to buy the MPC in the first place. Other than my phone I don’t care about touchscreen.
You're the chosen one.

great video. Im curious how controller mode will work? because if it looks like 3.0 on the actual MPC. then MPC 3.0 is going to replace a lot of daws.
Thanks great job 👏
Fire video !! Thank you
Wow, bro, thank you for showing where to get the "Program" button, that is now called "Track edit" because I always used to just fuck with the "program" button to mute out sounds without letting the pads bleed onto one another while making my beats, thank you bro, for real...you are a life saver because I was just about to downgrade my shit because I missed that aspect of my beat making, but thanks to you and awesome knowledge, I'm keeping my 3.0 beta until it bursts, :)
Great video appreciate it
I loved 3.0...... until I got an error while trying to save a project. I hope they fix the bugs man.
Thx Jae!
thank you for watching
Looks like you recorded a bug. The 16th grid lines keep disappearing as the playhead moves in the sequence in the grid view. But again. Thank you for your contribution.
Good flow 1 sequence song 🔥🔥🔥, going to try it ✅‼️💯
yea with the arranger i dont see any point for sequence now
@@JaeFreshmenyes there is a reason if you wanna play back in song mode
Is there a preference setting I need to turn on to get the tempo to show up in the arranger at the top. On my live 2 it is a blank spot
Bro where can I hear music you actually released? Thank for the video.
Yeh I couldn't find anything. What gives?
You know most producers don't really share music like that until at least SEVERAL YEARS into their careers right?
I was making bangers for well over a decade before I was finally comfortable with publishing some of my music.
These days people get a cracked version of FL and a half 8th of some bammer weed and think they should publish
everything they make on every hosting platform! That's career suicide though for 99.9% of em that do it that way!
@@Mista808why is that career suicide?
@ Simple. Release a shit product (in this case music) and you tarnish your name early on. Do it often enough and by the time you finally release good music nobody will even check it out because they assume everything you drop is trash. Apple is a huge company because they've always released solid products. Look at the car company KIA as an example of a company that released bad products when they first started out. KIA's were absolutely SHIT vehicles for the first couple decades that they were being produced. Even when they started finally making some half decent vehicles nobody cared because they assumed they were all still shit. Took a long time of doing the 10 year 100k mile warranty before people finally starting buying them! Just a couple examples for you..
