Great review as usual. I had this sling for like 2 years, love it, wear it everyday for walking the dog in rain and storm, still look really good. Not the prettiest but very practical & sturdy. .
@@Nomads.NationBtw my brother is a police officer in Detroit and they do in fact target people with bags with magnetic locks bc they can literally rip them off people by pulling at the right place where say something like a attached strap or something like what comes with alpaka tech case would be a lot harder
I own this one and love it for travel through the airport, to keep the small stuff that I like to have quick access to, Iike my passport, wallet, kindle. The Fidlock is really not a security threat. You have to pull it just right to get it to release and that cord is so short, they have to be right on you to grab hold of it. It takes a few tries for me to get it open when I’m wearing the bag, standing still, and looking right at it. Also, this is usually my personal item and I’m usually wearing a backpack at the same time (the sling keeps me from having to remove my backpack to find things) and the fidlock buckle is designed so that it can be under your backpack (hiding the buckle from thieves and also it’s flat and comfortable) while you’re wearing both.
@@WeiFinderI actually don’t. But it also might be because I do layer up when I’m in an airport. I generally only have both on when I’m in the airport, so it’s not often
Haven't watched the video yet, but I wanted to chime in quick with a comment: The Go Sling Nano is great for a small bag! Can easily be worn as a fanny or sling. It's my current go-to when I want a pocket reliever that looks a bit classier than a regular fanny pack. I am considering upgrading to a full-width strap, though, so that it could be a bit more comfortable when worn as a sling (the narrow strap is fine when worn as a fanny). The standard Go Sling (not the mini) is a great full-size sling! I opted for the full-size over the Mini because I wanted more room based on my experience with my other slings. I highly recommend it along with buying their stabilizer strap to keep it secure for those of you who are more active (every sling needs a stabilizer strap, TBH). Alpaka's Metro Pouch is also a great add-on for the Go Sling that can be attached to your strap for quick access (great for keys, wallet, keycard, etc.). Especially handy if you're using the stabilizer strap and don't want to unhook it to swing your bag around just to pull out some of your smaller items. When I replace the strap for my Go Nano, I'll probably add it to the Metro Pouch so that I could wear it as a standalone for those times I need an even more minimal pocket reliever than the Nano. Alpaka makes GREAT products, so I'm happy to finally see some reviews. With that said, time to watch this one and see what Aaron thinks of the Mini!
Regarding security in my opinion, having my stuff in a sling in general is way more secure than not. I was robbed once when traveling, someone grabbed my iPhone with magnetic wallet attached out of the back pocket of my jeans. So fidlock buckles/hardware is a huge plus when I am looking at a sling. Is functional, satisfying and just cool looking.
This sling is just like the flight sling, but the differences are the flight sling has an outer shell made of Nylon material I think, and is lighter and the shape differs a little bit. The straps are different too.
I'm looking for a sling to replace my Tomtoc 4.5litre. I don't want to go any smaller than the Tomtoc, but trying to decide between this one and the Alpaka Go Sling. I particularly want a sling with the 3rd hidden back pocket. I like the minimal look/branding of the Alpaka.
They make two limited edition slings. One black and one green. Also the interior is orange. This is $6 more than the one shown in the video. Also the loop in the bottom is for a stabilizer strap.
Seems like this sling hasn’t gotten the updates of Alpaka’s recent products yet, which are the hypalon zipper pulls and axoflux instead of Kodra on base models. Maybe if / when it gets revised it will get their lighter colored liner too. It’s sort of interesting, some Alpaka models get crazy colors released all the time, and some stay their basic black with occasional green.
They often run LE models with colour. I have an X-PAC version of the mini with bright orange ripstop inner lining, use it nearly every day, it's perfect.
@@Nomads.Nation I'd sorta like to know how they decide which products get put up for "preorder" on their site and which ones get the full kickstarter treatment.
@@jonuiucyes it’s interesting for sure. All I know is they are launching so many new products that my inbox feels like it’s going to explode sometimes 😂
@@xylesx I own both and love them. They serve different purposes. You bring the Nano when you just need to carry what's in your pockets and don't have any intention or need or carrying more. You use the standard Go Sling when you want or may need more space. It really comes down to a matter of how much space you need. I really like the combination of having the Nano + full because I have a small bag for when I don't need to carry a lot, and I have a full bag for when I do. I knew that if I bought the Mini, there would definitely be times where I wish I had more space. Very happy with the standard Go Sling because it doesn't feel huge when worn, so you get those Mini vibes while still being able to carry most of what you could possibly need. Then you have the Nano on days where you want to be extra minimal. I don't think I'd ever want the Mini in any scenario where I'd want the Nano, and I also don't think I'd want the Mini over any scenario where the full is useful. But that's me begin frugal. If I could justify all three, I absolutely would and just pick a bag based on my load out, but I can't justify the Mini when the Nano + full offers the range I need.
Go to Suburban in Kwun Tong. It’s backpack paradise. They also have one in causeway bay (but it’s smaller) and next to it you can find FEVER GUY which also has some great options
I don't usually carry a lot of stuff so the Alpaka Go Sling Nano would be better for me, unfornately there aren't a lot of good reviews of it like yours on UA-cam, any chance of you reviewing it?
I have one of the early versions with the blue interior. It is awesome! It cleans up so well, and the material is like new. I do not use the fidlock, and i want to mod the strap.
I need a smallest sling that fits a small umbrella maybe a water bottle as well, what would you recommend. Does a small umbrella fit in the main compartment of this bag?
I have no idea the dimensions of your umbrella, so can't say for sure. I'd recommend figuring that out first, then check out this sling, the Bellroy Venture Ready 2.5L, Aer Go Sling 2, and see which one fits. If you aren't sure, def reach out to their customer support and they'll get you sorted 💪
The 2 x strap keepers you mentioned.....do you think one of them is designed to optionally sit over the fidlock buckle, to deter thieves from quickly undoing it? I noticed another review of a bag with the same buckle and they mentioned wrapping tape around the buckle to deter thieves if travelling in dodgy areas. Maybe Alpaka is onto it?
Anyone have a suggestion to lock down the buckle from constantly loosening during wear? Heard the v2 addresses this. I've this bag, it's my only complaint.
