      Knowing the correct products to use on my thick hair. Your tips though are going a very long way in helping me though. I feel like when I get my hair cut soon I’ll be a lot more confident in trying to style it.

    Love your videos. Especially love how you have your wife do it so we see what it is like when we would do it ourselves. I can never seem to get the same results as I do from my stylist, but with you explaining everything and having your wife do it makes so much more sense now. Thanks for taking the time to do these vidoes!

    Oh my gosh! Why did it take me 53 years to find you? I stumbled across this video and thought meh, I know how to blow dry my hair. I watched it and gave it a try and damnnnnnnnn, i look like I had my hair blown dry by a professional. Imagine that. I happen to have the same brush that you used in the video. Everything you said to do I did and it works my fine hair has body and looks like there’s twice as much there. Thank you so much for doing what you do!

    I have asked so many hairstylist over the years 'Show me how ro do what yor doing to my hair, as I do it myself" & not one person has helped me out.
    I do not ave straight hair, like your model - but I do like to blow my hair out now and then.

    The two of you demonstrating the various techniques is wonderful. Vastly helpful watching your gorgeous wife blow out her hair versus a “professional” blow dry where you make it look both easy AND complicated, if that makes sense. Your Wife is amazing! Intelligent, supportive & I love her sense of humour too! She is a natural beauty and it's so good to see a woman not "hiding behind a tonne of makeup" You make a great team. Thank you for your extremely practical advice to those of us who struggle to style our hair ( I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels "Oh this is to hard so just put it in a ponytail or messybun.... ) so TY once again Justin for your channel. During lockdown what better time to educate the Academics who had our head in the books while the rest of the population was doing their hair LOL . Your channel is "JUSTIN-TIME" LOL . This is really helpful because I'm so useless at doing my own hair. I have thin hair so end up having too much product so it looks heavy, flat and greasy or the blowdryer just creates a frizzball when I don't use product. Also trying to know how to hold the dryer is always tricky. Really enjoyed this video. I'll give it a go! Thank you!

    Justin, heart felt thanks for your videos. I am 46, and I can't tell you how much I've spent on stylists (including going to Bon Jovi's) just to try to get a good hair cut. I have had damaged hair all my life because 1) I didn't know about combing/detangling 2) I didn't know how to properly blow dry (always went perpendicular to my hair) 3) didn't use good shampoos or products. Literally just by using a wet brush and drying my hair the direction you said, my hair went from Homeless to Haute! It's pretty sad to be learning this so late. I wish my stylists had taught me. My mom didn't know either and I am going to pass on this knowledge to her and my sister. Again, thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!

      Awesome! I’m so glad the tips are working for you!!!!! The blowdryer can be a tough one to get used to using correctly. Definitely go through that part of the video again. The biggest thing is to just make sure the airflow is parallel to the hair strand and pointed down the hair shaft not up it. Hope that helps a little.

    I just found your channel and love the videos, thank you so much for making them! I also love my Dyson dryer, it’s the kindest one I’ve ever owned to my fine but thick, wavy, cowlicky, highlighted hair. One tip I can share is, after using the dryer and a round brush on a section, I flip the dryer over and let it’s air intake on the back sit over the section for a few seconds. It cools the hair and sets it, makes it shinier, and is also faster (for me) than running the dryer on cool over my whole head after blow drying. Thanks again, and I look forward to more videos.

    I have fine hair but a lot of it and my issue is that no matter what I do, what products I use, when I finish styling (even if I use a generous amount of hair spray), my style falls flat and looks like I haven't done anything as soon as my hair is moved - I.e. I shake my head, a gentle breeze moves it.
    My current arsenal of products is: thickening spray (applied at roots and all over), thickening mousse (optional), hair spray. For the crown I use hair spray for each section before back combing. If I didn't use spray, the back combing would not work because my hair just slides out as I reposition the section.
    Thank you for doing these videos - your instructions are clear and very thorough!
    Terry from Cambridge Ontario

      I should tell you that I have a shoulder length layered cut similar to your wife's.
      My hair has a nice wave, so it's not poker straight. Depending on the humidity, there is enough curl that I can help enhance thst curl but omce again, if I brush my hair after its done, the curl will come out and only a gentle wave remains.
      I hope that in formation helps you provide me with guidance or suggestions.

    • @justinhickox
      @justinhickox  4 роки тому

      Great question. It’s gonna depend on how your hair is layered. Even though it’s fine, like you said you have a lot of it. Because of that it can be very heavy, and react like you’re experiencing. You may have a scenario where you actually need to go in and check it out a bit. Sounds crazy but done correctly it can lighten up your layers and give you more left. There are a few techniques that may help but unfortunately they’re pretty hard to explain over text. Mainly I would make sure that your layers are short enough and light enough but not too shortTo where they do not challenge the length. I hope that helps a little bit.

    Another great way and helpful way on how to blow dry hair. I have very curly frizzy hair and it goes just at the end of my neck I have a lot of body but at the same point I will try this technique and see if this helps. I do have a brush very similar to what you are using so hopefully it will give me a better styling option! Love your videos keep them coming :-)

    Today I learned a lot about hair styling from your channel! Your wife's idea about doing it herself while you explained how it should be done was great!
    Btw, I'd love if you could give some ideas about how to style a medium to long thin hair for people with receding chin. Thanks & keep up with the good work! 😊👍

    I realize this video was created a year ago… But thank you so much! It was so instructive to watch your beautiful wife do it herself. I have a waist length hair and use the Olivia garden large round brush to dry and smooth my wavy fine hair. When finished I then use a small-maybe 1”, at the crown on top close to the scalp to create instant lift.

    Very helpful video. I've never had much success with a round brush, but your tips give me courage to try again. Your wife is very beautiful and smart! Thanks to her for her suggestion. I really like videos where you teach your tips by letting the model use them on herself.

    What a GREAT IDEA! I loved all the techniques you showed us! I make the same mistakes you wife made 🤭
    Can you please make a video on how to blow dry the back of the hair? Is always the more complicated for me ! (Medium length or long hair) And also how to deal with cowlicks.... grrrr!!! I have a rebel one with my bangs
    Thank youuuu!!! You just got a new subscriber and a thump up from me !

    I found your channel and have learned so much about how to styling and blow dry my hair plus many others videos. I always have trouble trying to volume my crown, the right side does not look the same height as the left side. No matter how my hair cut in layers. My hair part to the right side and have swept side bang. Do you have any advice?

    Agreed - you have a great teaching style. Justin, what do you think of dryer/ rotating brush combined - like babyliss big hair? Does it damage hair by blowing direct onto, not down the shaft?

    • @justinhickox
      @justinhickox  4 роки тому

      Thank you so much! That’s a great question. I love those precious for convenience and I actually want to do a review on them. Typically speaking the airflow is not as strict with those and therefore not as damaging. They don’t concern me in the way that a blow dryer concerns me. Does that make sense?

    Great idea on how to do professional blow-outs yourself at home! You have convinced me to buy an Olivia Garden round brush. Which diameter you would recommend for my hair length?
    I have naturally straight hair (not even a curve, let alone a curl), fine-ish strands but pretty dense, and it is cut into a short bob (cut is very similar to the gorgeous silver-haired model in your challenge with the two other stylists).

    This is ideal because it shows how to do our own hair rather than you do it, the position of the brush and dryer was so helpful, I’d like to know how to use straighteners but keeping some height and body to the style too please x
