- Starting as a small collection of caged animals in 1896, the Denver Zoo has transformed into a conservation and education-driven institution that is recognized worldwide. Anchored by the transformative 1918 Bear Mountain exhibit, the zoo has developed in design and exhibitry for over a century. Witness a century of the zoo’s evolution in both science and design to become the institution we know today.

My husband and I will be going June 13, 2021. I'm so excited, I have never been to a zoo.
I had the unique experience for the first 20 years of my life that my dad worked here. I basically grew up behind the scenes here and looking back I definitely took it for granted at times. Watching this brought back tons of awesome memories, thanks!
Brilliant history of the Denver Zoo. I love how it all started with a single bear in a cage in City Park that you could drive your car right up to.
Really well done! So enjoyed learning about the history of our wonderful zoo!
We moved away from Colorado only a few weeks before Elephant Passage opened. I hope we can come back and see it some day.
I loved the eagle display.
Do you think you will do a similar video on Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and Pueblo Zoo?
It is a terrific place! The Denver Zoo rocks! It’s a soothing and amazing way to relax and walk with your family and experience a magnificent day! I remember the birds.. who were just loose and just walking around the concrete flooring inside certain bird areas. One little bird a Ted like our guide! Walking up to us. (My son and I spent the afternoon wandering around this place trying to meet up with the grumpy ape or see the roaring lion! We had a great time! Thanks!
I went to their zoo ,it made me cry that was the saddest thing I ever did see, them animals had no room to run or play, not much grass , lots of cement, they need to close that place down...TRUTH
Agree ! It made me cry to ! Horrible !!
Give them freedom. Place no cage !!!
I love Colorado Experience! But this episode is so out of touch that it hurts. The zoo is in terrible shape:/ it’s sad that funds for captive animals aren’t a priority
