  • Denver Zoo is an 80-acre (32 ha) zoological garden located in City Park of Denver, Colorado, United States. Founded in 1896, it is owned by the City and County of Denver and funded in part by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD). It is the most visited paid attraction in the Denver metropolitan area. Denver Zoo is accredited by the (American) Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and is also a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA). The zoo achieved ISO 14001 certification in 2009, was given the first AZA Green Award in 2011, and was named the "Greenest Zoo in the Country" at the World Renewable Energy Forum in 2012. In 2015, it was re-certified for ISO 14001 and achieved OHSAS 18001 certification, becoming only the fourth zoo in the world to get both certifications.
    Exhibits
Denver Zoo houses species from all over the world, including hoofed mammals, carnivorous mammals, primates, pachyderms, birds, reptiles, and fish. The zoo's animal collection contains 3,500 specimens representing 550 unique species. The zoo is laid out in a large loop, with exhibits both inside and outside the loop. Current exhibits include the following:
Primate Panorama spreads over 7 acres (2.8 ha) and primarily houses apes and other larger primates.
Jewels of the Emerald Forest pavilion is situated near the entrance to Primate Panorama. It features a meandering trail through diorama replicas exhibiting many small primates amongst other rainforest animals.
Monkey Island was built in 1937 with funds from the Works Progress Administration. It was rehabilitated in 1950.
Predator Ridge, completed in 2004 and the first exhibit most visitors encounter, is a large exhibit representing the African savanna.
The Edge is a newly designed exhibit modeled after the pine forests of Russia for the zoo's Amur tigers.
Hoofed mammals are generally housed in the center of the zoo's main circular path.
Giraffe House was created in 1966 and, along with the outdoor giraffe run, houses the zoo's giraffe herd.
Mountain Sheep Habitat was opened in 1979. It contains two natural-style "mountains" housing Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep and mountain goats.
Lorikeet Adventure, the Nurture Trail, and the Avian Propagation Center all opened in 2006.
The Forest Aviary in Primate Panorama is a 7,500-square-foot (700 m2) area richly landscaped and enclosed in a nearly invisible wire mesh.
Tropical Discovery was opened in 1993 as the zoo's herpetarium and aquarium. The building explores several tropical environments and displays mammals, reptiles, fish, amphibians and insects from these areas.
Dragons of Komodo was the largest Komodo dragon exhibit of its kind since it opened in 1999 and is still one of the largest Komodo dragon exhibits in the country.
Toyota Elephant Passage is a $50 million 10-acre (4.0 ha) exhibit. At its opening, it was the largest bull elephant habitat in the world, designed to house up to 12 elephants, 8 of them bulls. This arrangement allows the zoo to conduct behavioral research related to the recent discovery that bull elephants (originally thought to be solitary) form loose bachelor herds in the wild when not breeding with matriarchal herds.
Harmony Hill provides a habitat for grizzly bears modeled after the fictional Harmony Hill State Park.
    Northern Shores
This exhibit opened in 1987 and has continued to be a spacious and engaging home for California sea lions.

You've mentioned that your favorite bird is the Kookaburra, but I've not heard you sing the Kookaburra song/nursery rhyme yet...just a suggestion or request. :) Thank for your videos, I enjoy them a lot!

Hey, I just wanna thank you for these two part tour. I'm currently starting a new project to recreate this zoo in "Planet Zoo" (it's a zoo building game) and without your vlog I would only have the 3D satellite images as a reference since the Google Street View data for this area is very outdated (2011 is the last time they update it). So, this whole tour has been very insightful, especially your detailed documentation for the indoor areas like the Tropical Discovery and Emerald Forrest ones. Cheers and keep up the good work since it really provides an opportunity for people who couldn't visit these zoos!

    Hey Tom!
How are you man? At the time of writing this, you`re still on your Road Trip, i hope you`ve been enjoying that! Part 2 did not disappoint, you got some wonderful footage of the animals. I liked that the video was mostly taken up by Tropical Discovery. When Part 1 came out, i read the description as always and when i saw what Tropical Discovery had, i got very excited as you can imagine. But in all honesty, this entire Zoo was amazing, shows they really care about the well-being of all of the animals here, amazing habitats! I`ve got a question for you Tom: Have you had any fans come up to you on either Road Trip this year yet? I always find it so cool when you tell us that a fan came up to you. Remember when that Zookeeper came up to you at Gladys Porter Zoo?
Alright, let`s move on to Time Stamps, because oh boy do i have time stamps for you today, Tom!
    1:02: That`s such a cool sign!!
1:11: Such a pretty cat! Beautiful habitat as well!
2:01: beautiful, Denver Zoo has outdone themselves!
3:08: So beautiful! Big yawn a few seconds previously! Quite a toothy yawn as well, sea lions have plenty of sharp teeth, there`s a reason they have that name you know.
3:53: If you have to Tom, if it`s easier, break it up! It`s pronounced: MOTA-GU-ENSE. I hope this helps! BTW: Fair warning, first of quite a few corrections.
4:45: Very cool reptiles. You mentioned that the one on this branch is large, which that is true, but although not by much, this species can get a bit larger! Based on what i know about iguanas and sexual dimorphism, this guy looks to be a young male.
    7:07: GOU-RA-MI Tom 🙂. The S is silent.
7:33: These are the Clown Loach. Once again, i show off my knowledge of animals. I guess reading hundreds of books, watching hundreds of documentaries as a little boy and being subscribed to over 50 UA-cam channels (animal related) pays off in the long run.
    9:44: IMI-TAT-ING Tom 🙂👍.
10:41: So close Tom! You just missed the first o in Synodontis Catfish.
14:20: Ah i know this species, very endangered. ORI-NO-CO is how it`s pronounced Tom.
17:45: You know Tom, it`s funny. You said you only saw one turtle, i reach for my phone, ready to make a time stamp note, then i`m like you know what? I`ll give him a chance, i`ll give him a few seconds to notice the others.
19:15: Mudskippers are notorious for burrowing or being really camouflaged in the water, maybe they can see you but you can`t see them...
    20:05: ANNU-LA-TED Tom 🙂.
21:56: The Triggerfish and Sailfin Tang.
22:01: They secretly watch you on UA-cam and can`t believe their idol is here so they`re shy.
23:58: The way and how fast you said: There we go! kinda startled me Tom, i jumped lol. Since when did Tom`s Road Trippin become a Horror Channel? Making me jump lol.
25:02: Foxface, not Foxfish Tom 🙂.
32:36: Many animals that appear to not be in their habitats are probably lurking in the shadows, watching you, Tom. Not ALL of them obviously, but a good number of them. In the past, when it appeared that the animal was not in the habitat, i pointed them out to you. Rhino Iguanas are among my favourite lizards. The Cyclura genus has some truly magnificent species.
34:04: Yep! And they make good pets for little kids. Very common on the Invert Channels that i follow.
34:14: Compared to some species of tarantula and spiders as a whole, this is tiny. Some species have a 10-11 inch legspan and no i am not joking. With spiders and inverts as a whole, i always look at scientific names (i do that with all animals anyway, i don`t generally go by common names) because orange legged tarantula could be referencing half a dozen species. It`s easier to use scientific names such as: Brachypelma hamorii or Brachypelma smithi.
34:55: This thing is the modern version of Dilophosaurus. Name doesn`t ring a bell? The dinosaur that had a frill and spit acid at Nedry in Jurassic Park. This guy was the lizard on the branch, the skink was on the ground, somewhat hiding.
35:14: Another channel i watch (Dave`s Little Beasties) has multiple of these and built a wonderful enclosure for them (i`ll link the video in which he built their enclosure at the end of my comment), Dave has had much success breeding these guys. Dave is really the only channel who competes with you Tom, but you win in all categories, you win the battle for dominance of the content creators, you are King Of UA-cam and you always will be in my eyes.
36:52: Wow!! So pretty! I`m happy it was moving around to show off it`s colour!
38:47: I just answered all of those questions out loud to myself 💀😂.
41:55: Great footage of the grizzly bear absolutely destroying this tree, really enjoyed this footage! This is what enrichment does people! Makes the animals exhibit natural behaviours! And maybe you would not be that safe from a bear in a tree, after all...
44:58: The big Southern Stingray came up to you, makes for a great shot, don`t you agree Tom?
45:50: It seems like we have a juvenile in the bunch! Either that or it`s in the process of moulting. See the one in the front on the right with the lighter coloured feathers?
52:21: I started laughing (like, proper laughing) when this clip came on. As soon as the camera was on, you yelled: HI EMU! Man, hilarious is an understatement for someone like you Tom.
Last time stamp! 53:16: Wow, Tom! What a great shot! Among my favourite animals as a general rule. Magnificent creatures! Adored them ever since i was a little boy and saw one for the first time in 2011, i`ll never forget it.
Great video Tom, you showed it great as usual! Looking forward to you reply, enjoy the remainder of your Road Trip! Alright, i think that covers it for me man! Take care of yourself Tom 😄👊!

Sorry for the late reply Noah. The Denver Zoo was a very enjoyable zoo to explore, the 2nd part of the tour had some great areas. I really liked the tiger habitat; they have lots of room. The bridge is a nice part of the habitat, gives them access to both sides of the habitat. I appreciate the corrections, when I'm filming multiple signs at one, its' not easy to try to figure out the correct pronunciation. The aquarium definitely had some nice tanks with lots of different aquatic life to enjoy. They have some gorgeous snakes and lizards; I always enjoy seeing them. The Grizzly bears was having a good time with that tree, showing off his/ her strength, I am surprised that tree still stands. That was a good boy stingray, enjoyed being petted. Penguins shed all their feathers each year, looked like was just regrowing feathers. I try to be friendly to the animals, wouldn't it be nice to have one say Hello back to me? Besides some birds I mean. 😀 Elephants are amazing animals, that extra-large one was amazing, the one at your time stamp was just enjoying being the center of attention. As always, thanks for the time stamps, Noah.
