Out of all of the impressive things Eddie has done, this by far, was the most impressive thing yet. Getting scared shitless in the middle of the route, mentally freezing, and being able to regroup and keep moving forward is a huge achievement.

Dude, Eddie you're commitment after that middle section where you were struggling to find feet grip and hanging on with you're upper body was amazing. Epic big guy
Eddie has become one of my favourite people to watch content on. He has such a great positive attitude towards everything. All the things I've seen him attempt he has surprised me considering his size. He has got balls to trust the kit on the outdoor stuff for his weight.
I went indoor climbing at 110kgs and i had the same fear as Eddie, the equipment. You have to remember everyone in there is 75kgs or less , usually less. Googled the tolerances of the ropes and since then have been totally relaxed as they can take 1500kgs when lopped in the figure 8 as they are using. So if Eddie knew this it would relax him a bunch, 170kgs is not a big deal for a rope that can hold a car
Its just one of those things where people of Eddies and your size very rarely if ever are put in positions like that. You're right that the ropes and equipment can hold much much more its just psychological.
The force when you fall is like 3-4 times your weight. So if Eddie fell a meter or more at 165 kg it would quickly accelerate to around 500~600 kg of force, the rope could still hold if what you said is true but I don't think you took that into consideration.
@@shrekjunior6144oh it's absolutely tested thoroughly and even from different use cases and load axes! So for example even the smaller of the cams that Magnus would be setting to anchor to the wall are rated based on the amount of expansion they can get in a crack, so for 9mm of expansion it is rated for 5kN but a better placement of 18mm expansion ups the rated load to 10kN. The locking carabiner for the belay device would usually be rated for 22kN or so on the top to bottom axis and also rated for 7kN if it were in the cross loaded position across the gate and opposing long side. Another part of the equation is that the rope itself is called a "dynamic" rope that has some stretch so that when you do fall the force is dispersed over a longer period of time so the impulse deceleration is reduced to better mitigate the force experienced by the anchors. HowNOT2 is a great channel where they do 3rd party stress testing on climbing gear as well as the effects of age and wear and tear on the gear. The gear itself is extremely robust when maintained.
@@shrekjunior6144top rope “falls” are usually just slips. You don’t actually drop at all. If you fall on lead then the rope stretches to absorb the force of your fall and decelerate you while you lift up your belayer, which also decelerates you. Even climbers as big as Eddie only generate 700kg force on really big falls with the belayer anchored in place. Most climbing falls don’t even come close to that.

7:20 the amount of damn bags attached to Magnus to hold Eddie up when trying to match his weight is insane
That was actually insane. Congrats, Eddie. O saw the video in Magnus' channel and came here running when it was over Cuzz I wanted to see your version. Amazing
I respect this physical feat more than just about any other physical feat you've done. This was truly impressive Eddie. Kudos.
You look strong mate. Should try competing at world’s strongest man!
😆
So impressed by Eddie. This is a whole new world for him, and it is so cool to see him so willing to try something new.
This has to be a world record for his weight class.
Those calfs about to pop .
much respect to eddie trying so much different stuff. getting out of his comfort zone. climbing can be really stressfull for the mind and body.
id love to try that exact rock with professionals on my side ! Magnus is such a great guy, love his videos aswell
Good video Eddie ❤💪
This is definitely one of the coolest videos I’ve seen from you mate, big ups for getting it done and not giving up! 🙌
Eddie should get Brian to dress in a Bigfoot costume and prank people
I done a lot of indoor and outdoor rock climbing in my teens and twenties around the lake District, what Eddie has achieved here is absolutely phenomenal, a Man of that size has no reason to be tearing up the rock faces, yet here he is.
Are we going to ignore the camera people (might just be one guy actually) that look like they have CIA training just casually holding a steady shot halfway up the climb?
The respect between these two is truly wonderful.
You are awesome Eddie hall👍
Deep respect for doing that Eddie.

An incredible showing of athleticism. Bravo Eddie! A job well done.
This actually looks dangerous. Given how heavy the guy is
Thank you for sharing your adventures, all good, some inspirational, some downright funny and some like this one just amazing
When did Mitch Hooper start climbing mountains 🤣 Eddie is sure milking that 2017 win
He is the worlds strongest man
@@Strong_guy-c2k 🤣🤣 no he's not he won only one international competition his entire career
@@Strong_guy-c2k 🦗🦗
@@Larry-n4nhe still won it, so he still is the WSM
What color is your WSM trophy?
Fair play Eddie, not an easy thing for smaller people to do and you smashed it. Great to see your attitude to trying new things outside of your comfort zone and giving it your all.
A mountain climbing a mountain. Interesting
I really enjoy the videos with Eddie and Magnus. Goes to show the variety in strength/body types. Congrats on the send!
0:21 what exactly is magnus doing there? holding the rope for the moment eddie falls and he catches him? not sure about that and i think eddie should not do that, he is probably the heaviest person ever going up that mountain with equipment thats only used by people who weigh half as him, did they really think this through?
It's called belaying. In Magnus's video you can clearly see that he has the rope anchored to the rock beside him
Potato take OP, stop posting dumdum takes
Eddie the fact that you got through this is a testament in itself the ability to weight that much be that athletic and have the stamina just shows the dedication you have to your craft cheers mate you really are a beast!!!!
This is just somethingn everyone needs to watch! Bodybuilding and athletics doing it together. I mean Eddie does literally bodybuilding and swimming. All respect for that but what we can do with climbing is so different! Love both of you guys!
Eddie man I don't know why you decided to put yourself out there for this adventure. It's obviously something you've been working on and enjoy but you absolutely put your vulnerability out there for the world to see and it shows. Hats off to you, lots of us keyboard warriors just sit back and think hmph that looks fun... or terrifying and move along with our day. You really put a hard effort out there full adm
Eddie I am so impressed ❤been following you for years. I'm now gonna go try mountaineering
Well done Eddie. You are a true athlete mate. Outside of someone telling you to do gymnastics, this is about as far as you can get from Strong Man, and you nailed it.
The scenic is stunning btw. Also love that 'fence' of stones that's so typical for the British countryside
As a climber myself, that's pretty impressive. Looks like a fun climb too with a beautiful view to boot!
One thing for sure Eddie, you have the best climbing instructor in the business!!
this has been one of the most incredible things I've seen done on this channel. props to to you Eddie for having the commitment in doing this!
I appreciate the humility Eddie has to try and do things he is uncomfortable with and show his struggles!
A great teacher and dedicated student. Eddie is special. This vid is great
teachers channel is magnus midtbo really good climber
