I watched this video again and enjoyed it once again. About 6 years ago I learned the art of tightlining and have had some great days on a couple of my lakes in western North Carolina. I have caught two smallmouth that were 4.5 pounds On Lake James. Thanks 3B Outdoors
I just recently found your channel and so glad I did! I live here in the Tri-Cities and love fishing but most times come home after spending dawn to dusk on the lake empty handed. I only catch and release as this is a wonderful hobby. This video is absolutely awesome! You took the time to explain it all from start to finish and that will certainly help folks like me. Can’t wait to go try it out. I will keep looking thru your videos for more helpful videos like this. Thank you again. 👍🏼
Great video. I know you didn't have to share this technique, but glad you did. Gonna give tightlining a try soon. I'm having some trouble catching those Eastern TN bass.
Mike, Just stay with it! Takes a bit of time getting the rate of fall and shake together. When you do, it's incredibly fun. Thanks for watching and your comments! Best Fishes.
I really appreciate the info. Ive started fishing Cherokee. I've tried your method with no luck. My question is are you looking for something specifically on your depth finder? Or mainly a rocky bank? Thanks in advance.
Primarily, 45 degree chunk rock banks is where I start. You can also check pea gravel points and typical pre-spawn locations. I only use my depth finder to see what's under me while tightlining. Thanks for the question!
Wow!! Never knew that if you have an auto inflatable PFD on board and your not wearing it you will get a citation by the game warden if you don’t have another standard PFD?
+3BOutdoorsTV I mainly fish Norris and I've been wanting to give this a try. I live in NC but I'm going to be over there for Christmas. Will they be bitting this very good due to the warmer weather?
+Zachary Banks Hey Zachary! I fish Norris Lake a lot. If you'll go look at my latest video on my channel, which is also about tightlining, you'll be able to see that they are definitely eating it. One day that I went last week, I hooked into 6 smallmouth over 16 inches, including one 18.75", but I sadly didn't have my GoPro on the best day.
+3BOutdoorsTV My condolences for the loss of your friend. I do have the components to make some ball heads with the keepers, so if you need any just let me know.
Drew - Rodney was a great guy and helped a lot fishermen in his life, just as his dad did… That would be awesome! What brand/size of hooks are you using? I would purchase them from you. Best Fishes!
I think the smaller line size in really clear water definitely makes a difference and yes, I think it's harder for them to see… But, then again, they will eat an umbrella rig with a piece of chain link fencing holding the baits on, go figure! :)
+Jay Wallen Fluorocarbon is o.k., if it works well for you. I prefer mono for longer casts and less issues on a spinning reel in very cold temperatures. We often fish in temps. below 32 degrees and fluorocarbon can be difficult to manage. Great Question!
I watch a lot of youtubers for fishing education and entertainment. I have to say this channel is the absolute best UA-cam fishing channel.

Thanks Mike! TightLining is a killer smallmouth deal.

Awesome! Thanks for watching and really appreciate your feedback. Send pics of any big ones when you catch’em!
Excellent demonstration of back reeling. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and comment! Seen your other comment about fishing the fluke being similar, but, you must have removed it. Hope you catch’em!
Love watching your shows and all the great things you are teaching!
Thanks zwilly00! Hope it helps someone catch a few more.

That’s my understanding! Thanks for watching!
What jig do you use and hook size
I use a 1/8 oz., unpainted, round ball head jig with a #1 hook and wire keeper, with the Gulp minnow. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the help
i like 5lb maxima green....thanx 4 posting"
Thanks for watching and there are a lot of good combinations. Main thing is catch’em! Best Fishes.
Will you be attending the East Tennessee Fishing show?
+Zachary Banks Yes, I plan to attend, but, will not have a booth, just hanging out one day.
Hope to see you there
Zachary Banks Sounds good.

Nathan, what size hook are you using here? I can't seem to find a good 1/8 oz head with a wire keeper and small hook, thinking about making my own.
+Drew Russell I use #6's and #4's… The sad part is my buddy who made these with the little wire keeper lost his battle with cancer a few months ago.
+3BOutdoorsTV My condolences for the loss of your friend. I do have the components to make some ball heads with the keepers, so if you need any just let me know.

Hey Nathan. Why is 4lb line best? Harder for the fish to see? Thanks!

Thanks again for watching!
I use 8 lb line and use the net
👍
Why Monofilament over Fluorocarbon?

+Jay Wallen It's easier to work with in cold weather and casts better… Thanks for the question!
Nathan how can I get some ugly head jigs?
Danny - My good buddy who made the Ugly Head Jigs passed away a few years ago and there won't be any more of them... Sorry.
