Carvel Planking Ep22 Laying the Deck

In the 22nd episode of my CARVEL PLANKING series I show how I laid a two-layer deck on my 24' Ranger class Gaff sloop new build, and sheathed it with dynel cloth set in epoxy resin, giving a modern tough and leakproof deck which retains the traditional look. My decades of wooden boat construction and in boatbuilding education means that you get the benefit of methods that really work. Nicely done Ian. We recently did virtually the same system on the cabin top of The Lady Hopetoun at the Sydney Heritage Fleet. The 120 year old Kauri tongue and groove sub-layer was mostly in good order. It originally had canvas.
