Magnus ver Marnusson Strongman Classic was literally rocks for weight, rocks for reps, rocks for distance and rocks for height. Everything was outdoors, in sub-zero temperatures, mostly in a muddy field and Rongo Keen refused to wear a shirt.

We will remind you of that
Looking forward to watching that nine months after the actual competition ends.
"6'3, barely qualifying them for Tinder" had me in stitches 😂
I can’t believe so many people glazed over that😂😭

Starting to think the guys posing in their underwear at my gym bathroom for mirror selfies everyday are aspiring to be in this. Dots are connecting.
never expected to see you here
Not really, they still struggle to do basic yardwork because lifting a tool or digging uses the other half of their muscles that they never specifically worked out. That's the difference between bodybuilding and strength. I've got more core strength than most even though I don't go to the gym because of my hobbies. People who only work out specific muscles show off, they aren't strong
Wow
@@KNR90this is maybe true if you just do pure isolation exercises on Tri/bi/chest but most people do full body and if you pass the beginner stage you will be stronger in everyday activities than a gardener/tradesman.

Calling Eddie Hall a "hydraulic fridge" had me laughing way too loud and for too long. It's genuinely the most accurate description of him I've ever heard. Not that I'd ever say that to his face (and I met him in 2001, so I know I wouldn't as he nearly crushed my child hand when he shook it)
But he's so dehydrated
Eh he would probably like it
What got me is "6'8 in circumference"
@@youtubeSuckssNow He did! He actually commented here, scroll a bit and you'll see it.
Offering up some severed child's hand for a 13 year old future strongman to shake is a pretty weird thing to do.

Fun fact: some jokers in Poland commissioned 14m statue of Mariusz Pudzianowski dressed as a pope. The really funny thing is that it was actually built.
lol where at?
Ok, I'm a fan of Mariusz. in fact I just learned out to spell his last name. But THAT, is ridiculous! lmao

Yeah this made me think/feel that he’s actually been a genuine fan of the sport
Eddie Hall and the boys will have a good laugh at this if they see it.

Thank you Casually Explained for recently teaching me the valuable skills of Rock Climbing, Arm Wrestling, Photography snappin' and now popping pills and lifting. Wait wut?
Mariusz Pudzianowski is THE man, the myth, the legend here in Poland. I remember watching him compete as a kid. Everybody did during that time. I'm pretty sure we Poles know about Strongman competitions solely because of him. He's an important character in the Polandcore for sure.
How does Adam Małysz compare?
Yeeeep!
Im pretty sure that his success (5x WSM, still unbeaten) is the sole reason why my generation, born in late 90s, didn't become rife with obesity and alike.
He made it cool to be strong and looked cool doing it.
Fuck, "Pudzian" became a common way to refer to your friends and family that were stronger than others lmao
@@Aliquis.frigushe doesn't really compare.
He was a beloved athlete here, just like all successful polish athletes were, and still is a household name.. but cultural impact is not comperable. Especially since Pudzianowski started to compete in MMA, cementing him as a masculine idol
Also biggest meme ever 😝🤡

Yes, these guys can lift huge rocks, but unlike me, they're always away from home and their mothers always miss them, so checkmate.
Actually pro strongmen typically only compete 4-6 times a year and sometimes even take their parents with them, train only 4 times a week, and don't need to work a regular job, so they can spend a shitload of their time with their mumsies

2:32 Jean Paul Sigmarsson was my hero. I fell in love with deadlifts and made them a staple of my training while in school.
He's evolving. Every single line is a hitter.
7:54 Eddie did the deadlift before winning WSM 2017, not after. He used the deadlift to gain funding for WSM
This is legitimately a great video, as a massive fan, and minor historian it was a great overview!
your narrative skill is so good
It's such a delight each time you upload! I like your suggestions about having standardised weights but a surprise shape/challenge - would make it a bit more interesting to watch :)
Dude, this was awesome, well informed and full of dry humor
As a fan of both Casually Explained and strongman, this was a true gift
As a strongman fan, I never expected this video from your channel. I am happy.
So cool you did a video on strongman! I love your videos.
I know your content is primarily humor but there's a lot of factual information in here and as one of the best middleweight competitors to ever do it (myself, winning 6 National championships), I will say not standardizing or sharing the stone dimensions is a really interesting idea with one fault, it would disadvantaging those that do not have the prior knowledge of the dimensions, the information would almost definitely be leaked to an athlete or two and give an even worse discrepancy in advantage to those one or two individuals.
Keep doing what you do, I love your stuff! If you wanted to do a weight class edition of this there is a ton of humor you could incorporate. I'd be happy to help you with that.
Best wishes,
Zack McCarley
At some point being muscular crosses the line from looking attractive to looking like a Swiss chalet rotisserie chicken. A rotisserie chicken that could very easily crush my skull but still.
For many of these guys it crosses the line of even being muscle.
No one does strongman, or even pro bodybuilding for that matter, in order to _look_ attractive.
Jokes on you Big Z is the world's most attractive man as well.
🤣🤣🤣
Love how he starts of with how objective the sport is and then proceeds to give many reasons why it is not.

Casually Explained, I just wanted to say I'm really happy to see that you've made a proper return to form with these last few videos. You set such a high standard initially I understand it was hard for you to keep up with that standard and I felt there was a slight drop in quality a while back but im happy to see you back making some of your best ever content
This is literally peak media, and a genius commentary, MAKE MORE!!!
Worlds strongest man always makes me think of christmas time with my dad, love the competition and love youve done a video on it thank you ❤
Mariusz Pudzianowski. A dozen or so years of starts. A sports phenomenon. Repeatability of successes over the years, over a decade. Something unbelievable! Every week we sat down, as if we were in a soap opera, to watch this competition. A sociological phenomenon! How many things could be attributed to him during this career? That you can clearly win in life without any compromises. That he is a reliable and solid man, a messenger of great news and great hope. He started as a crisis idol who was to lead us as an ambassador of a wonderful civilizational leap to Europe. A social phenomenon. After all, thanks to these transmissions, we lived a vicarious life. He was a source of great collective joy.
A statistical anomaly among genetic outliers truly the greatest imo. Brian, the Stoltsman's and Thor have potential to being close or on par with him and I hope their careers see more success. Big Z is another great one. Along with Mark Felix.
I see what You did here. XD
Mariusz Pudzianowski was banned from International Federation of Strength Athletes for substance abuse. So not exactly a phenomenon you are trying to describe here

There are some events you simply need to reveal beforehand. The lighter more dynamic events can generally be kept secret. If you say “prepare for a heavy overhead“ and throw fingals fingars at someone, thats a recipe for injury.
On the other hand things like medlies, rope pulls and weight over bar can be used as surprise events without much worry about injury.
The event organizers are working on it though.
CrossFit games has this issue...among many others.
Pudzianowski is actually the goat. He won for the first time straight out of jail, he was in jail for assaulting a mafia boss, he got into the mafia cirle by accident and was too good of a person to be any use for them so they just let him go. Absolute legend
A story I heard from him on some fitness expo once was that he got to know some mafia people, which he didn't know about at the time, and they wanted him to get money from some guy that owed them like 2k. He went to the guy and after going into his house and meeting him he knew that no matter what he'd do to this guy he wouldn't have the money but he noticed a car outside. After talking for a bit the guy told him that the car doesn't run but he'd be willing to sell it to pay off the debt. Mariusz then diagnosed the car for a bit, went to buy a new battery and some other bits (for his own money lol) and then got the car running and sold it for the guy. After a whole day he came back with the money to the mafia guys and they were wondering how tf he got money from him, cause they just wanted Mariusz to beat him up for not having it, and what took him the whole day. He told them the whole story and they just sighed and told him. Bro, you're too good for this, get the fuck. And he only later found out they were associated with the mafia. I don't remember how the jail story went but it was some movie shit too lmao
