Honestly, I loved this series so much- it was so beautiful. Especially as someone who was raised by my mom teaching me sign language and about her native Choctaw roots with stories and hand-me-downs, it really hit home.
I love this for you! ❤ I was emotionally overwhelmed by all the beauty of this entire story. Made me wish I was apart of something bigger than myself.
I loved this Marvel Series so much and I love Maya Lopez too
I'm surprised so many reactors thought Kingpin is healing after what Maya did. How I interpreted it when I watched the episode was that when Maya attempted to heal him, pull him out of the darkness, opened the way for him to let it go, Kingpin refused to take her hand, to surrender the hammer, to let go and move on. I read that scene as "she offered him a way out, but he refused to take that step".
So he chooses to do what he does.
Same, she tried and i think he healed... physically... but didnt let go of his trauma and in the end the question he asked was perfect... he got defeated bby something he is unable to understand... a true selfless, caring, loving gesture... he cant process it
Yea doesn’t he literally say that like “I’m not who you want me to be” and pulls out of the dream after picking up the hammer again

If i remember right, Mayor Fisk also comes with anti-vigilante legislation. This could be laying the groundwork for a world the hates mutants simply for existing. With the President at the end of Secret Invasion going hard core anti-alien and Fisk potentially following suit as Mayor with vigilantes in general i really see this as setting the stage for superheroes in general to be distrusted or hated outright

Sokovia Accords are scrapped so superhero activity is no longer controlled. The Avengers are not much of a team anymore but we know Young Avengere is coming and eventually a bigger team.

I was on guard throughout this entire episode I thought Kingpin would kill her grandmother as for him running for Mayor in Daredevil Born Again I heard that from Emergency Awesome all in all I loved this series
For me this is a great standalone show. Apart from the ending awkwardly cutting right after Fisk's emotional trauma being confronted and kinda just ending, everything felt calculated. I was hoping for great cinematic use of the fact that Maya is deaf. And they really nailed the transitions between different types of audio.
Fisk yelling at Maya but us hearing it from her perspective and only seeing his expressions was really impactful.
The deaf sequences with everything looking sort of surreal, which I have to assume is intentional, really puts a focus on the way she sees the world. It feels like everything we see is not quite real, or somehow more real. Starting with the woodpecker feeling out of place and slightly oversaturated. Ending with the dance festival and all the vibrant colors and movement.
One question I had at the start is why Maya's mother made no attempt to get to safety after she realised the breaks didn't work. After seeing her heal the bird, I like to think that in that moment, she did not care about her own life, and chose to spend her last moments praying for he daughter's safety. With the themes of praying, ancestral connections, that seems logical.
The post-credits scene suddenly felt very disjointed from how the rest of the show is portrayed. So I'm guessing the direction did not have much influence over that scene, as it's more of a seperate teaser.
To me this show is probably a 7/10 on a personal scale of best to worst MCU piece.
I think Fisk refused to the "treatment", that's why the emotional trauma confrontation was cut in such a confusing and awkward way.
What attempt to get to safety do you think she should have done? She's in a runaway truck heading towards a T-section. Should she have gone off-road and hit a tree? Seriously, I want to know what you think she should have done
@@thathighguy6980 I don't think she could've saved it necessarily, It's more the fact she appears to just kinda do nothing that felt weird at first. At least an attempt to slow the car down offroad was the first thought that came to mind. Or signaling with lights or the horn in an attempt to warn the cars coming to the intersection of the danger. Even a panicked but stupid reaction would kind of make sense.

This show absolutely slapped, start to finish. The finale was the weakest part, to me, but it only knocked my personal score down from a 9.5 to a 9 overall for the series. It was all still really good.
I have family logistics questions - I understand that Henry is Maya's dad's brother, but who are Bonnie's and Biscuits' parents? Are Bonnie and Biscuits cousins or siblings? Who is and what happened to Chula's other child?
I was curious about the origins of the first Choctaw as well and found a video from the Choctaw Nation about the show echo and the representative talks about working with Marvel and said parts of their history is not for the outside world to know but just an internal knowledge. So I have a feeling that is why we did not learn about parts of the story which is more than understandable. The channel is ChoctawNationOK if anybody wants to find that video.

I think this show got dramatically cut down to fit 5 episodes. I think it would have really been a great series if it had 8-10 episodes. It had so much talent in it. The visuals were beautiful. The story was good.

Are Bonnie and Buiscuts siblings or cousins? Chula is their grandma also, but where are their parents? Henry is Maya's fathers brother, so her uncle, but why did Bonnie call him uncle Henry?

I thought this series was a mess honestly. I was really excited for this show and I was really disappointed. A lot of disparate themes that I didn’t feel like tied well together. Also to end up trying to make Maya a really mushy character after basically spending her entire life as a murderous sociopath was strange. And man…that last fight scene was weird. It felt like it started as one show and ended as another. I like Alaqua Cox a lot too but I thought for some reason her character was weird, that they wanted me to sympathize with her when I didn’t feel anything. Also, I never found Kingpin to be threatening, i never worried for any friend or family member.
Oh well…a lot of the shows flaws reminded me of how uneven Ms. marvel was, at no fault of any of the cast.
I found it to be boring
