Not a terribly bad job. Did it by myself in a couple hours. A transmission jack is awesome for removing the tank. The only hard part was that stupid hose on the top of the tank. There's also some stupid clip on the fuel pump wiring harness that holds it to the top of the tank. You just can't get man size hands in there to get them off easily. I also disconnected the hard line in the engine compartment and used a cheap harbor freight hand pump on that line to pump all the gas out of the tank. No spillage whatsoever.
awesome man. yeah that hose and that electrical connector were the most tedious parts. tried to go legit and squeeze the legs to remove but really no room with the size of hands and angle. i wish the float wasnt messed up so he could drive to empty the tank but i wasnt so lucky. congrats on the repair. hope this video helped
I have a 02 4 runner mine is under steering wheel remove pannel under steering wheel it should be right beside your fuse box inside to the right of it cant miss it , hope this helps
Gr8 content 4 sure. Anyone you know ever tried embiggening the hole on the driver's side?!? allowing for much easier fuel pump replacement ...asking for a friend who has a sawzall and angle grinder at the ready.
hahaha if its your "friends" personal car i saw go for it. juat make sure THEY dont chew up any hoses or wires lol. Why they dont create access panels like they do on most cars is beyond me. Guess shops need to make money also lol.
I don't remember if I had to do the double wrench method with a line wrench. I would've showed if I had to do that to loosen the B-nut. if necessary, grab a crows foot for that size nut and this was you can get a breaker bar on it for more leverage.
Also, make sure your putting force to spin the smaller head, you can see that its the one with the threads at 4:51. The bigger wrench is just to hold the line from twisting.
@@hyr0llr thank you so much yeah I sprayed it again gave it some taps I'm gonna reattempt it now. I don't really have a good jack so I'm working with like 4" of space on my back hopefully it comes off today. Thank you for the help brotha
Not that i know of honestly. there is that hole in the rear passenger area but i would assume not big enough to work on. especiallt getting the hoses and screw out. unless you cut a big ol hole above it lol
No. The only access hole they have isn't even big enough to reach in and disconnect everything that needs to be disconnected. I had to have my wife stick her small hands down and disconnect a bracket that held the wiring harness. Definitely not big enough to access the pump and certainly not meant for man size hands, that's for sure.
The hard lines attached along the top of the tank make the access panel modification impossible for 3rd gen 4Runners. Don't try it. Just drop the tank from the truck.

@@hyr0llr I think it’s because of the hard fuel lines that make it too hard to take out the pump. They could make it long and wide I guess.
How do you remove the connector? (8 min). Do you squeeze the tabs, or spread them?
