I always put a piece of light cardstock under the vellum before putting it in the embossing folder. It has been a while since I've done it, so I did a test run, and it worked. I have also used two pieces of vellum in the past, and that also worked.
Aside from great tips, you conduct a video with perfection - no silly asides or personal minutiae. Right to the point with excellent instructions. Thank you!
LOVE the ink and gel plate combination with vellum, I’ve never used vellum with my gel plate. sadly it sits unused. You’ve given me inspiration to get it back out again 😀
I tape a pc of wax paper oin the folder. I have a folder that cracks all paper. Using wax paper solved my problem. I can't remember where I got the tip as it was years ago.
Tiffany, I feel like I can totally master this ink stuff!! Your videos are terrific, quick, to the point, complete technique info -- I'm hooked! Thank you so much for this particular video - I, too, haven't used vellum in a L O N G time, so it'll be great to get back into using that product, always looks like your project is kicked up a notch! Thanks again!
I have a question. I’m completely ignorant on the embossing glaze because I haven’t used it yet. I have some but haven’t tried it. But if you were sticking the vellum on white cardstock wouldn’t it have looked the same to just glaze the cardstock? You can’t see the vellum or can you in person? Thank you. You are so awesome to watch! I love alcohol inks. I haven’t let myself buy any because I can’t find time to use everything I have already, but it’s my favorite background is just an alcohol background.
So love each project you made. I’m totally inspired! You did a great job presenting your techniques. WhooHoo! Now from the tips from the commenters re vellum…. I’m off to my artroom! Thanks Tiffany!
Ok big tip from Elaine Horroll an English crafter who suggests putting a piece of 300gsm cardstock under your vellum before running it through you machine. WOOHOO no cracks in the vellum. I have tried it with a regular embossing folder and 3 different thicknesses of vellum. Every time it came out with no cracks! Then I tried it with a 3D embossing folder again no cracking. Problem solved.
LOVE THESE!!! Thanks Tiffany. I think you should get some ‘SPLATTER SQUAD’ merch and include a hoodie along with other things :)). I live in Toronto so it gets chilly here!! I’d totally buy it :)))
I just downloaded your gel plate layer technique and pinks my favorite color but the white words didn’t show up well but no biggie I just wrote over them. I’m really excited to have that because I can never remember how to do the stencils and stamps and get ghost prints. Which are usually my favorite! Thank you for the easy steps!
I've seen a tip saying to use a sheet of copy paper along with the vellum. Also, the same person said if you have a particularly problematic embossing folder with paper cracking and splitting to include a piece of vellum along with the paper, and to leave that vellum in the troublesome embossing folder for future use, in other words you don't need to keep using a new piece of vellum. Basically, you are providing a bit of a cushion for the vellum and then for the cardstock.
I just watched a video last week regarding issues with vellum cracking & they recommended using thicker vellum, at least 40 to 50 GSM. I just purchased a pack of 100 GSM from Amazon that arrived today. I can't wait to try it to see if it makes a difference! I wish I could remember the person in the video. Anyways, I'm also going to try the advise of using wax paper in the comment from Lois. My vellum I purchased is from Dowsabel, it is rated for laser & ink jet so I can stamp, heat emboss w/o the vellum wrinkling. It came in 100 sheets of 8.5x11". I hope it works & helps you too! Thank you for your videos!
AWESOME video chickie. LOVE these techniques. i've never seen anyone do the last one either - very cool! Anytime I run stuff through an embossing folder and get cracks, I lightly mist it on one side. Never tried it with vellum though. LOVE the cards, great video. Love the fun vibe of it. Makes me want to make some cards. 😁🎨♥
@@loribeck7496 Thanks Lori! That means more than you know. I will definitely come back, just been in a super busy season over the past year work wise. Something had to give. I promise I'll film again! 😘😇🎨
What if you attached the adhesive sheet to the vellum before embossing? It might prevent cracking. I use vellum from Bazzil, and it’s very sturdy. Doesn’t crack easily!
Your cards were nice but…I thought that the reason people used vellum was to take advantage of the translucency. Seems like adhering it to card stock doesn’t do that at all. I don’t know tons about this stuff but I am confused.
Thank you. Vellum can be used for many different things. The delicacy of vellum adds a different look even if the transparency isn't fully taken advantage of. I also mention that stamping and other techniques can be done to the cardstock underneath to give more interest to the over all card. I hope this helps a little bit. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Not so funny story. I’ve been waiting months to get a 6” brayer and finally ordered one. From Amazon a ranger one. It finally came and the idiots at that store sent the wrong size! They sent the small one. Which I have. So now months before I’ll have money to order it again. So ticked off! How do companies get 1 item wrong in a 1 item order??? Ugh!

TRYING YOUR Vellum Embossing Folder Tips!
Thank you for sharing! I'm going to try this today -- my vellum always cracked too. 😊
Let me know how it works for you. I have done it on the Big shot and the big shot plus.
Aside from great tips, you conduct a video with perfection - no silly asides or personal minutiae. Right to the point with excellent instructions. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I try my hardest to only make a video as long as it needs to be. No fluff!
Im in love with the alcohol ink! That was stunning!
That alcohol pearls on vellum was ultimate! I like the glaze too but I’m an alcohol groupie. Don’t have any but love it!
Beautiful cards. I always use cardstock when embossing with vellum no cracking. Yeah. Loved your techniques.
LOVE the ink and gel plate combination with vellum, I’ve never used vellum with my gel plate. sadly it sits unused. You’ve given me inspiration to get it back out again 😀
I have used vellum with embossing folders many times without cracking. I only use Stampin' Up Vellum, it is heavier than most. Love your ideas!
Beautiful cards❤ And great tips!!!
I tape a pc of wax paper oin the folder. I have a folder that cracks all paper. Using wax paper solved my problem. I can't remember where I got the tip as it was years ago.
So helpful!! I have a lot of vellum but never use it!! Now I will use it a lot more now!! Thanks for sharing!!

Love that color combo on distress oxide inks. I’m hoping I can remember it! Gorgeous!

Gorgeous techniques!! These turned out beautifully! Thank you for the inspiration!
I recently bought the DW gloss white spray and haven’t used it yet. This has me excited to break it out!

Very pretty backgrounds! Cheers from 🇨🇦Calgary, Alberta🇨🇦
Amazing cards and techniques! Can you use different embossing powder instead Tim Holtz powders?
Great video! What vellum did you use?
Thank you for sharing these lovely techniques.
These are all great techniques! I have been using a very heavy weight vellum recently with my folders and it has not cracked.
LOVE THESE!!! Thanks Tiffany. I think you should get some ‘SPLATTER SQUAD’ merch and include a hoodie along with other things :)). I live in Toronto so it gets chilly here!! I’d totally buy it :)))
For sure working on it!! 🥰 Thanks so much!!!
@@Tiffany.Solorio oh yes please!!! With the slogan on top of splatter lol!!! LOVE it..but you’re the ‘artiste’ and I will surely LOVE your design :)))
So sorry, and glad, I guess, about herbi 😥 I love your closure on this folio! Brighten up, you did a good thing
Natasha from New Zealand says the Lawn Fawn vellum is the only one that doesn’t crack ❤x
Great techniques and ideas for vellum….thank you so much! 😁
Thank you!

Great video!
Have you tried using a piece of waxed paper on top of the vellum? It works for me.
It’s for sure on my list to try. Thank you! 😊
This always works for folder and reverse embossing (rubbing back side of design with ball stylus in select areas, like flower petals).
I've seen a tip saying to use a sheet of copy paper along with the vellum. You are so welcome!
Love these ideas using vellum . . . . . ! Are the verses you used from Tim Holtz?
Hello, yes they are Tim Holtz. I hope that helps.
Awesome vellum ideas! Now I need to figure out where I stashed mine 😔

Nice ! Be kind to each other. Stay safe. Love to all
Have you tried spritzing the vellum with water before running it through the machine (for embossing)?
Day 3
What if you attached the adhesive sheet to the vellum before embossing? It might prevent cracking.
I use vellum from Bazzil, and it’s very sturdy. Doesn’t crack easily!
Day 2
Try lightly spritzing the vellum with water first, then use the folder. Also works with cardstock.
For the first card, if you end up adhering the panel to cardstock anyway, why not emboss on that to start with?
At the time I didn’t think of it. After someone suggested it but it didn’t work for me.
I lightly mist my vellum before putting it in the embossing folder. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much!
Sometimes, depending on the thickness of the vellum, you can lightly spritz it with water to keep it from cracking
I know if you use a heavier weight, like 40lbs or more, you can get good results when using an embossing folder
Mine is 55lb canson vellum. I am going try different brands. I’m determined to get it to work lol! Thank you!!
Yay #splattersquad! Love it
Really pretty cards, TFS!
Splatter Squad!!!
Put a sheet of copy paper in folder with vellum
Try running with a piece of copy paper.
You mentioned every product except the Glue. Could you please name the glue and the company info Thank you!
The vellum you listed is no longer available

Try thicker vellum. I’ve had better results with it
Day 4 of trying your tips #cardmaking
