- Hey all,
I have been asked a lot lately about my routine for receiving new fish, if I medicate them or not, quarantine them or not so today I thought I'd let you all know about my philosophy for quarantining fish.

Great to see a video that addresses the limited availability of meds on this side of the world. Thank you for this!
Love seeing aussie fish content, every youtuber (or fish forum) is referring to meds we simply don't have available.
Great post, it answered a lot of questions I had 👍
Thanks for sharing your methods Blake!!
You are an excellent fish keeper and I definitely trust your recommendations!!
Thank you for sharing and I hope you and your family have a very blessed Thanksgiving 🦃🌿🐟🌿🙏
Great vid mate. I have a quarantine tank in the laundry that is full of baby Rice fish fry atm. It has it's own equipment such as nets and siphon etc, so no cross contamination.
I just set up a quarantine for some new angels so perfect timing 👌🏼 I'm dosing Easy Life Voogle to reduce stress because it's natural but so glad you covered what meds to use if any issues pop up. Most videos suggest medication we can't get in Aus so cheers for the video man 👊🏼
time for a haircut bro! love the vids! keep em coming :D
with the quarantine factor i usually dont because one of my stores has seperate systems for each tank and does a 3 week store quarantine . but with wild caught or fish that are in diseased tanks then quarantine is a must
What store does this? @apss
@@erl911 sorry for the late reply but my lfs is sweet knowle aquatics. lovely place in the middle of nowhere located in the countrysides of stratford upon avon. good selection of tropical, coldwater and african cichlids
Hey Blake! Experience really does make this so much easier. Have you ever used a UV sterilizer. Great vid.
Ive used then in canisters before but actually recently just got a dedicated steriliser last week 👍
Great question? I invested at one time in one of those green killing machines!! Fortunately so far I haven't had to use it but I do keep it on hand 🙏
I would definitely like to see some videos on using UV sterilizers🙏🌿🐟🌿
Just bought the fluvala 57 ltr first time I’ve owned a tank would it support 10x cardial tetra, 4 x habrosus corydoras and 6 x Borneo hillstream loaches ?
Thank you for this helpful video. When you need to use the Vetsense Kilverm Pig and Poultry Wormer how much do you add per litre and is one dose enough?
1mL / 20L is what i use. One dose is enough but you have to gravel vac afterwards and blackout the tank during treatment
@@BlakesAquatics Thanks you Blake.
Thank you Blake.
Hi, thank you for this video. As a newbie in this hobby, your channel has been very helpful. I have a question about the fish medication. I saw that Blue Planet has Aquari-cycline, and Tri-Sulfa. Do you know what are the differences between these two medicines?
Trisulfa is mainly an ich treatment, i recommend the multi cure instead. Aquaricycline is a good antibiotic to keep on hand
@@BlakesAquatics Thank you 🙏🏻
Hey Blake, which in your opinion is the best all in one aquatic plant fertiliser that's easily accessible in Australia?
Hard to go past the one with my plants on the label 😄 grab the macro, micro and amino and your tank will be humming www.aquariumuniverse.com.au/collections/river-revolution-australian-made-freshwater/products/river-revolution-macro-nutrients-250ml
Hi Blake, I was wondering if you have used any treatments on Pleco Catfish? I seem to have a few catfish with white poop and some treatments advise not to use them on Plecos. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) TIA
I have treated plecos with dewormers before, typically its a good idea to do a half dose.
Hey mate I’m from tassie, currently having some issues with worms for the first time all that’s available to me as a treatment is kilverm, I also have quite a few scaleless fish like loaches and synodontis cats, what dosage rate per liter would u reckon?
I was told with kilverm, 0.16 ml per 7L, 3.2ml to 20L, 8ml to 50L
What's the dosage for the Kilverm since it only lists poultry dosage rates??
1mL per 7L
Time to cut that 'fro bro. lol, thanks for the vid.
🤣 when the move is over and i have 5 mins to sit down
@@BlakesAquatics Haha, just giving you a hard time. We all know how hectic life can be during a move. Good luck with everything.
Great video! Whats your experience with sunken bellies and trying to treat it? Really curious 🤩
I have had a few fish with them, usually i watch it for the first week to see if feeding helps, if not i deworm with levamisole for 1 round and prazi for 1 round then repeat
@@BlakesAquatics oh nice thanks, does that usually work?
I have seen cases where prazi and levamisole didnt work, I found in 1 case with my yellow molly Waterlife octozin fixed it (dimetridazols). So it was probably hex. But nothing helped with my guppies so i think it was TB
@@sasfishadventures9729 TB should be fairly obvious, when i have had it in my rainbows there was been large red sores, really gross and sore looking. There are soo many worms and parasites that its hard to know. If prazi and levam dont work theres always fenbendazole as well
@@BlakesAquatics thanks! Yea i found a strain of tb (mycobacteria haemophilia) that doesn't cause sores but causes wasting and death. Its pretty prevalent in endlers in my area *nsw
Awesome vid as always👍👌 ✌️+❤️ (6:25)
🤣💩
@@BlakesAquatics so childish but I couldn’t resist😂
What does the sunken belly mean?
Usually for fish store or imported fish it means they haven't been fed well, to stop them spoiling water in shipping and keep costs down, or they have internal parasites.
Underfed or internal parasites/ worms present
Has Blake been shocked by pikachu
Gotta catch em all
when I get new fish , I make them stay in a hotel for two weeks , at there own expense , then they have to get a shot and wear a mask everywhere .........................................
