The way SF changes lanes on the GG Bridge is so interesting. It inspired me to get weird and make this video.
Its called a BTM. A barrier transfer machine, also known as zipper machine or road zipper, is a heavy vehicle used to transfer concrete lane dividers, such as jersey barriers, which are used to relieve traffic congestion during rush hours.
That was really strange. I didn't know the GG had a moveable median like that. Pretty cool.
was 3 times really necessary?
Exactly; Slow it down!
incase you missed it the first 2 times
Not enough
you know you could just click stop?
So good!
Sooo, thats a thing
That would be a cool job
Awesome

Hey what song did you use for this vid? I like it
LifeworksoO did you ever find it by chance?
Nvrmnd. I found it
Waouh !!
We need this in almost every bay area freeway.
Not on 880, that shit be traffic both ways all the damn time lol.
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 This Zipp soud
It's not the Singing Bridge.
What happens if a car is directly behind the zipper?
How do drivers unaware of the zipper know to not drive directly behind?
You can never drive behind it, since it always moves the barrier to its right side. The lane directly behind it will always drive in the other direction. Also, it wouldn't be a problem anyway, since you can just treat it as any other (very slow) car.
Only way that happens is if someone is driving in the wrong direction....
Why the duenet? 👎
What’s the point of this? Why not just have 3 lanes in one direction and 3 the other and fix a permanent barrier.
I don't know for sure, but my guess is the population was smaller when the golden gate bridge was built so this wasn't a problem. Now, just imagine if the golden gate bridge was completely closed down for a significant portion of time and you can see why this is the better solution.
More traffic going into the city in the morning, and out of the city in the evening. So they can adjust the lanes to make traffic better. On the weekend, they leave it at 3&3 since it's more even.
Buddy the population of California when the bridge was built was roughly 6 million today the state has almost 40 million
that's an instant unsub
