The Road Zipper Moveable Barrier System on the Golden Gate Bridge

In early 2015, the Road Zipper System was installed on San Francisco's iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Since then, one of the world's most photographed-and busiest-bridges has been moving traffic faster and more safely than ever before.
Lindsay partnered with the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway & Transportation District to engineer a streamlined and custom-made version of the Road Zipper System to fit the Golden Gate Bridge’s narrow lanes. While previously the bridge carried three lanes of traffic in either direction, the new system allowed the bridge to retain six lanes but easily be reconfigured to feature up to four lanes in one direction and two in the other. This flexibility is helping the Golden Gate Bridge better cope with daily commuter traffic needs-now and in the future.
