More than impressive, both the highly developed musicality and the technique. I have the feeling that the older he gets, the better he plays. Bravo.
I can't find the same set of qualities in any other guitarist. Sweet and radiant sound, impeccable technique, limitless musicality. I was only able to find something similar in the weiss sonata played by Roman Viasovski and Haendel's Chaconne played by Enno Voororst. I am grateful to have lived because it allows me, among other things, to listen to you, David Russell. Thank you very much for brightening our planet!
I couldn't agree more with you! To the 2 pieces and guitar players you mention I can't help add Lorenzo Micheli's interpretations of La catedral by Agustin Barrios and "Geppetto" by Fiorenzo Carpi because these too are ,like David Russell's here ,simply unparalleled .
Of course that Master David is a great guitarist. But there are many very good guitarist, men and womans.
Why this constant obsession of comparing musicians? What makes music beautiful compared to sport is that there’s wonderful artists each brilliant in their own ways. And what you find best others may find others best (it’s like agreeing which is the best restaurant in town).
@@dcbeyam The very nature of knowledge comes through comparison, unless you're talking about synthetic a priori knowledge discussed in Kant's Critique of Pure Reason. When you learn to play guitar or any other instrument, you mature by listening to other guitarists and discovering your own way of playing - it's like any other art form; and in that, you compare them. There's no harm in that.
Of course there are many brilliant musicians... Manuel Barrueco, John Williams, etc etc... But it is a fact that everyone will have their own taste, and there's no harm in that too. The way David plays, his sound, the sweetness of his notes - whether through technique or the quality of the instrument, the counterpoints, the depth of his interpretation, touches my soul deeply, as does Handel's Chaconne played by Enno Voorhorst and Weiss' sonata played by Roman Viasovski, something that Manuel Barrueco or John Williams playing Bach does not do. If each of you has another artist that also makes you cry with emotion, I won't ask why you like them or criticize you in your comments.
We have, of course, a somewhat philosophical and aesthetic discussion: to what extent is it subjectivity, to what extent can one guitarist be better than another - better technique, better musicality, etc.? It's impossible to know. Everyone will defend their point...
@@longlone Many thanks for sharing your experience! I don't know Lorenzo yet. I'll search for him to add one more artist to my list. Thanks again!
Immense virtuose c’est surtout une légende guitariste je le suis depuis ses tout débuts.
I just love everything Regondi, and this doesn’t disappoint. Thank you!
Wow.
Crisp sound and perfect tone, technically perfect, musicianship above amazing....David got it all!
BRILLIANT. Thank you, maestro.
Masterful playing as usual from David Russell.
You bet, he’s a legend.
Everything in this music was excellent. Either it be in technic or nuance. Plus, the guitar sound was something extraordinary.

David is the standard by which all players aspire to! Bravo Maestro!! We will see you here in Denver in March!

Perfection!!!!
Fantastico
dos violonistas com mais de 50 ele é o melhor, maravilha!!!
Very few "classical" guitarists make me want to listen. I can listen to this Master all day. Love to Mr. Russell
We agree, he is a master!
Hot take: this guy is pretty good at guitar
wtf
1) Not a good work by Regondi. From that period and maybe a little earlier, I recommend this work by Carulli:
ua-cam.com/video/E-aG38jWKQc/v-deo.html
2) I also do not like that the classical guitarist that continuously propagandizes religious stuff. Lunacharsky would probably disagree with me, but classical guitar should not be played this often in churches. If it is a question of sound, at least be kind enough to not show religious images. Some respect for people like me that defend Aufklarung should be given.
Kind regards
