yeah yeah, lead is the best product for the job, because my dad and grand dad and 50 generations be4 that used it back to when Romans came on this island and taught u how to build houses instead of mud huts. let me guess you still use mortar to bed ridges and F1 felt to waterproof it . its not like redland spend loads of cash on German test centres to get the guarantees in order. it doesn't have the finish of the lead,BUT its half the price, half the weight, its not toxic, easy to handle and doesn't require 10 years of experience to install
Jeez, sooooo many 'experts' on here who have never seen, touched or even used the product but who feel fully qualified to pass judgement! I wish I was that clever...I expect you all want to bring back steam trains and coal fired ranges! :)
Roofing has gone backward now. everything is a day course to become a specialist to install a product that's crap and the materials are shit including tiles, slates battens.......... why has it gone this way
I'm an Aussie roofer and we use metal valleys instead of lead. I'm sure there is a good reason, but why does the UK use lead valleys and not metal ones?
@@jacobosborne972 we also use metal and fiberglass valley, depending on the roof sometimes a tiled valley. I would say there are two main reasons for using lead. with all roofing systems it depends on the roof as choice and what they like to do. reason 2 is there are a lot of old houses and the look of lead fits the aesthetics. there are alternatives to lead but no replacements as a good slate roof with all lead trimmings should last over a 100 years before a major repair is needed and even then all the lead would be recycled. alternatives to lead in England generally last up to 50 years. I have used alternatives depending on the roof system and customers preference. for example if the customer wants a concrete tile roof to match the area they are in then I would use a dry fibreglass system so I'm not using cement to point the tiles in the valley as that would be the first thing that would need to be repaired so I don't have anything against alternatives but a replacement should be as good or better. I hope this answers your question 👍
This is no replacement for lead. Nasty stuff, seen it on a job before scuffs up really bad on a sunny day you can't walk on it. Lead all the way baby!!!

Ffs, I actually came here looking for an alternative to lead but if ever there was an advert for not to use a product this was it. Looks such a bodge job.
In Australia we use colorbond metal sheet preformed and last forever. This is not a suitable for roof valley, very unprofessional. if you drop a tile on it, that's it lol. This product are supposed to be use as tile flashing transition from brick wall to roof tiles not for valley lol. I just couldn't stop laughing 😂 😂
They keep trying and keep failing, no product is ever going to replace lead. This looks awful stuff, it’s all good sticking to the ply when it’s clean and in the dry, but bet it struggles with dust or wet weather
Been roofing 45 years always put roofing felt over the valley flashing to allow any ingress of water to travel down the valley

If it was effective as lead then it would be used on new builds over lead as its cheaper and the builders are greedy fuckers.
And probably needs replacing in a decade.
Or use shitty old fashioned lead and never have to touch it again.
@@muddyfunker3014 Until it cracks due to the expansion and contraction of British weather like all lead does in this country.
On my days I wouldn't even put this on my bird house!!!
Thanks for Video
Try getting that to stick to wood on a wet or damp day always makes me laugh how he demonstrates in a nice clean dry workshop
fibreglass is better , its a great alternative say for shed how long will it last how many years ?
What an absolute bodge up. best advert i have ever seen for a reason not to buy something. irrespective of the quality of the product.
Lead is king
Someone please take him back to his office 😢
Flash band then, it will leak within a year.

I’m a roofer and I’ve installed this and it’s not good , mite b ok on a mock roof in a factory but on a roof on site in wind and dampness it’s jank
Lead will last the life of the building you biff.
The latest materials and methods don't always equal an improvement.
Personal insults weaken a point of view, not strengthen it.

the short answer is there is no replacement for lead.

Your supposed to be a product rep.....if I had done a valley that looks like that I would have had the sack
Jeez, I’m not a roofer, but this looks like crap.
So much wrong here, it’ll let water in the first time it rains ! Lead and correct installation the only way.

only good for a repair never use as a valley replace lead or fibre only way
Awful product, I can’t imagine anyone using this
what a messy job! I would want a full refund if that was my house, actually I wouldn't let you on my roof!
🤦🏼♂️
What a load of rubbish this material is , I've been a roofer for 30 years and would never use this stuff.
I agree I been roofer 16 years not quite as long as u but this stuff is rubbish and takes ages to install
This is a terrible product. Very surprised this was even posted. Very bad installation.

It does trust me
Dear me, this has been really painful to watch, what a load of rubbish
No thanks
What aload of rubbish stuff is I've used it personally and it's rubbish, you can't beat a lead valley
What a mess. Nothing more to say really.
Stick with lead that looks shit
