I've always enjoyed the music in your videos, Trev. But there's somethig refreshing about allowing the wind and rain to speak in this one. Maybe it works best with these solo adventures. Thanks for putting this one together and for sharing. All the best.

Looked cold Trev, a world away from those still, mild summer nights. I also was amazed at the warming effect I felt when I switched to my xtherm. I haven’t been out for a winter camp yet. Not confident in the Lanshan 2 pro for the winter so I will go back to my Banshee for winter.

I just got myself a thermarest X therm max after the trekology left me lay on the floor, and its amazing, almost like lying on a radiator.. spendy but really good quality piece of kit and seems really durable too

Hi Trev love video, and your set up. When you said you were not sure which way round the fly went, if your MSR is similar to my MSR Huba Huba, two tapes on one end are red to match the inner ones. Anyway I’m sure a man of you calibre will sort it. Still enjoy the tales of Dartmoor. ATB.
I know you mentioned the tent can be put up, outer first, but I would have thouight a high value tent would perhaps come 'ready joined' I have an old Vango Spectre 200, which does just this .. poles in .. pull upright .. peg out .. climb in .. DONE !
YEa - I mentioned that in the previous video - seems ridiculous that such a pricey tent should hve so many minor design flaws. I will be doing an update video where I have a closer look and discuss the tent in detail at some point!

Alright Trev, I’ve just got an MSR access 1 in bright orange! It’s a 4 season tent not used it yet my previous tents are the cloud peak 2 and cloud up just felt I needed to go premium. Hope your getting on with the free lite ok looks a nice tent.
Hi ya mate - sorry for ate reply. How did you get on with your MSR Access? Did it pay to go premium? I wasn't overly impressed with the Freelite to be honest - a bit of a ballache to set up, a bit on the small side. My tent of the year has to be the Taiji 2 I reckon!
In 500 years in cold and stormy nights or in nights with rain and thunder you may see a pale figure tirelessly roaming dartmoor! Wandering from tor to tor setting up a tent for a while, making a brew and then packing his rucksack and get on the way again! And if you come to close to this restless soul you can hear a whisper in the wind .... "Hi,Trevor here! Summit or nothing! Today with my new tent!" 😵

Ah, cool. Let me know how that pans out for you. I see that your fathom has an extreme rating of -22, considerably more than my Leviathan, but its comfort rating is -1, whixh is considerably less... weird1🤔🤔
@@SummitOrNothing I was out in 3 degrees and I was freezing . I was also fully clothed with 2 pairs of darn tough socks on. Luckily I had my bag liner with me which just got me through it. I've seen the rab for 180 online and it retailed at 280 .
@@johnywaffle1365 That's a good price for the Rab. Top quality, so should be much better. So far my Leviathan has been really good, the sleeping pad helps a lot too, as with any sleeping bag, especially down, the compression beneath you doesn't have the same insulation qualities.

That wind sounded like rumbling thunder. Thought it was gonna get like ⛈ Maybe it does later (I’m only a few minutes in). You found a nice spot though. Soon as you got there, the wind was no longer present 👍🏼

Sat through it a couple of times trying to make music fit to different parts and it just felt like it wasn't working. Must source a new camera soon. Anyway,
Haha... you don't have to worry about that just yet. Glad I got the thermarest, but the msr wouldn't have been purchased had it not been such a good offer.

@Summit Or Nothing was going to be eating them tonight on High Willhays. Got there in pitch black. Went to set up tent and my water bladder had emptied 2 litres inside my rucksack 😔 everything soaked. That was a long walk back to the car park.

Like the idea of making own boil in the bag, are the silver foil packs vacuum sealed or just like a traditional hydrated meal once open ? Good review, things don't always go to plan!
Theyre just zip lock, but you can iron them shut if you wanted to make sure they dont come open - not that I have had that trouble yet, but I always bag them in a second bag just to prevent a messy accident!
No, I think you're right. The weather is unpredictable and even more so on Dartmoor due to exposure and altitude. I tend to check met office as they do cover a few of the tors and generally in the ball park, besides I think they tend to be who supply the other apps information 🤔

Great tip, cheers Graeme, but you'd be surprised how often I refer to the garmin for sunset and sunrise times ahead of time, handy having it on your wrist throughout the day, gives you an idea of what time you're have to aim for when hiking etc
I love to use music with my videos but must admit it is the most difficult part to find the right music for the video... Windy, rainy and cold night seems right for a SON video... Tiny people to giants... A bit of a stretch so to speak...LOL
Yea, the music just didn't seem to fit this time, a lot to do with the mic on this camera not being as effective as my usual camera (which packed up on my previous coast walk). Cheers for watching, Max!
Yea, down jacket was (stupidly) in my bag on way in, waterproof jacket was stupidly in my backpack on way out. Backpack is the same just had the raincover on it in the end.
@@SummitOrNothing partly due to your reviews I own a Cloud Up 2 with snow skirts, I've been wild camping now for 7 months in Scotland's Highlands, a brilliant tent for the money, I use it in all conditions wind rain and snow, it's done me proud, in the Cairngorms at present where it's been cold at times so I just cover the inner netting with light weight plastic sheet (half a dust sheet from Poundland :) leaving the front a rear netting free for ventilation works great and I've kept warm well below zero camping on a few feet of snow. Thanks so much for your video's, love your honest reviews and down to earth style, filming even when things don't go quite right it shows part of the fun is in the learning and that wild camping is available to all no matter your budget. The same reason that I wasn't wearing the down jacket on the way up, it was packed. Must admit, it was was bit misty, but as soon as I started to pack up the tent, the heavens opened. Was a mad dash to get it packed away and yea, I was soaked to my underwear 🤦♂️
The jacket is a great insulative layer - but not a bad price, about a third of the price of Rab and North Face jackets. The tent was fairly toasty - but then it could have been my sleeping system.

@@SummitOrNothing yea same here. I used it up at steeperton last weekend and the feathers were clumped in the corner where condensation had formed. I have been told down stuff can leak for a bit and then it stops. Fingers crossed !

You don't need a garmin to tell you when sunset is when you are out and about if you can see the sun. Just use your fingers. 15 mins per finger.
Great tip, cheers Graeme, but you'd be surprised how often I refer to the garmin for sunset and sunrise times ahead of time, handy having it on your wrist throughout the day, gives you an idea of what time you're have to aim for when hiking etc
I love to use music with my videos but must admit it is the most difficult part to find the right music for the video... Windy, rainy and cold night seems right for a SON video... Tiny people to giants... A bit of a stretch so to speak...LOL
Yea, the music just didn't seem to fit this time, a lot to do with the mic on this camera not being as effective as my usual camera (which packed up on my previous coast walk). Cheers for watching, Max!

Yea, down jacket was (stupidly) in my bag on way in, waterproof jacket was stupidly in my backpack on way out. Backpack is the same just had the raincover on it in the end.

@@SummitOrNothing partly due to your reviews I own a Cloud Up 2 with snow skirts, I've been wild camping now for 7 months in Scotland's Highlands, a brilliant tent for the money, I use it in all conditions wind rain and snow, it's done me proud, in the Cairngorms at present where it's been cold at times so I just cover the inner netting with light weight plastic sheet (half a dust sheet from Poundland :) leaving the front a rear netting free for ventilation works great and I've kept warm well below zero camping on a few feet of snow. Thanks so much for your video's, love your honest reviews and down to earth style, filming even when things don't go quite right it shows part of the fun is in the learning and that wild camping is available to all no matter your budget. Cheers 😁

Great trip, but why you not wearing rain coat on way back ? You must got soaked.
The same reason that I wasn't wearing the down jacket on the way up, it was packed. Must admit, it was was bit misty, but as soon as I started to pack up the tent, the heavens opened. Was a mad dash to get it packed away and yea, I was soaked to my underwear 🤦♂️

For the ruling price of the jacket it better provide ducking warmth same with the tent.
The jacket is a great insulative layer - but not a bad price, about a third of the price of Rab and North Face jackets. The tent was fairly toasty - but then it could have been my sleeping system.

No, but the naturehike spare I had taken did, had a small tear in it, looked like I been mutilating chickens in the morning.
@@SummitOrNothing yea same here. I used it up at steeperton last weekend and the feathers were clumped in the corner where condensation had formed. I have been told down stuff can leak for a bit and then it stops. Fingers crossed !

At 7.43 you put pegs in straight down not at 45 degrees, hope you did not do all like that.
At 7.43 I'm not putting pegs in, but I shouldn't think I had put it in straight down as I always angle them against the tension.
