Eddy said the most offensive word in the Norwegian language perfectly, loudly, and with conviction, while trying to imitate the words in the Norwegian song that he didn't believe was Norwegian. Also, that word is not in the lyrics of the song. Almost did a spit take when he said it. Thanks for the laugh! 😂
thanks for that hilarious bit of info!
Yea I literally died when Eddy said "fitte" 💀
@@maurmi You're more than welcome! My pleasure! It's fun to spread the knowledge. However, it's probably a good idea to use this information wisely (if ever) if you're going to Norway. 😁

Petition for TwoSet to make a series where they educate themselves on the music of the different regions of the world! They could also have musicians from those regions showcase their playing.
That would be great!
Wonderful idea! Music connects people to people, and TwoSet connects people to music!
yess
That would be great!
Yeeesss
As an American, I thought the Canadian song was American too. Mainly because the guy sounds like he has a strong southern accent and couldn't understand him saying "hockey" until the subtitles.
And "America, F*** Yeah!" made me laugh. 🤣
Yeah I laughed my head off during that
To be honnest, that's a pretty crapy choice for a canadian song. English Canada kinda struggle differentiating themselves from US. They could have go with a riggodon of some sort, it sounds like nothing else on the planet ans it's an old fashioned french. + Nobody know this frickin hockey song in Canada.
Stompin' Tom Conners!! One of my bosses would sing his songs at work, it was great! (wish they could have made that song the 'new' Hockey Night in Canada theme too)
@@Worship_Cthulhu absolutely, a riggodon would have been 100% better
@@Worship_Cthulhu excuse me, but this song is very nostalgic for this Canadian, and so i imagine others as well! my grandma and papa would always play it for my brother, cousins, and i when we were little. so yes, some Canadians know this "frickin hockey song", as you say.
besides, you seem - like many others in this comment section - to be missing the point. these videos are about STEREOTYPES, can you honestly say there is any more blatant a Canadian stereotype than assuming we're all moose-riding, maple-syrup-drinking, hockey-fanatic, lumberjacks?
"Argentina looks like a ballet foot." 💀
I can't unsee it 🤣
For anyone's interest: "America F*ck Yeah" is a song from the film "Team America" which was made by the creators of South Park. Hilarious song, hilarious movie. It's a parody, so no this song isn't serious, hahaha.
I laughed SO HARD when I heard it!! Their rationalization for why it was America was just as hilarious!! ❤
Blame Canada whould have been fun
Is there an episode of South Park where they use classical instruments like The Simpsons?
I know that song from someone’s animated video about the Vietnam war
I also laughed when I heard this one pop up! Funny film! Xx
Yeah, but American exceptionalism is 100% why it works as a parody. 🤣
I'm laughing and I do get why they sometimes guessed wrong. They do have an idea of which country typically sounds like or how they sound like because of the melody or the instruments that were used, but adding being colonized as a factor to some countries that really throws you off 😩
I laughed when I heard the cariñosa and just instantly knew it was from the Philippines (I’m Filipino) but they were guessing countries from South America like yeah that makes sense but also no
@@omiscendo I'm from the Philippines too, we danced that I forgot what grade HAHAHA
And also some countries are multicultural, like Malaysia
Sometimes I'm almost angry that they can be so uncultured about traditional European music... but then I remember that I grew up in Europe surrounded by this music and they grew up on the other side of the world. (It doesn't help that they've almost exclusively listened to classical music their whole life...)
Plus we learn many things watching this channel and these types of videos are hilarious, so they're forgiven... 😄
That's what's weird about lists like these. Every country has like 10-20 genres and styles. Also, so many are shared.
TwoSet: We're so sorry for almost causing an Irish-British war with our stupidity.
Also TwoSet: idk Scotland's probably a country by now.
4:04 As a German speaking... we don't quite have a song like this but there is a child-game-song called "Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass" (which translates to "three chinese with the double bass") where you sing the song over and over but switch the vowels to only being one (like first time it's the original, then all vowels are a's, then e's, and so on). So you got pretty close there :D
We have that in Norway too! I rmemeber singing it in kindergarten, and since my name starts with a K we would never sign my letter
Omg we have a very similar thing in Israel (although it's two chinese with a violin)
Exactly thats the song we have in denmark Denmark too! 😂
Wie haben noch ein paar Problemchen
We have that in italy too!
I would be curious to see a "guess the national anthem" by TwoSet 😌
*I’ve never needed something more than this.*
They did that already didn't they?
@@laurencamila9024 More of a you cringe you lose type of a video where one American lady sang Star Spangled Banner off key and that national anthem video where they kind of roast Putin for being overly serious.

Yes yes yes yes yes
The song "Zwei kleine Italiener" is about two Italians who have to work in Germany as sort of like guest workers, who just want to go back home and be with their families but they can't leave. It's really sad tbh
thank you for explaining that
As a German I have to say I didn't know this song it's arguable how representative they are. Also it's a very old fashioned song. If it weren't for the German lyrics I wouldn't have associated it with a German speaking country at all
That seems to have been a popular topic in Germany back then - cf. Udo Jürgens' "Griechischer Wein"
@@voorth back then yeah. But I remember griechischer Wein
@@voorth in the 50s there was a labour shortage in Germany. There was a lot of initiative bringing guest workers from other countries in. Notably Italy and Greece and later Turkey. This led to the big minority of Turkish people in Germany today. There are also a lot of Italians and Greeks (and their descendants) still living in Germany. That's why it was a topic in music (and pop culture) of the time.
As a Spaniard, the Spanish songs were so on point. I could almost see either a pasodoble dance or a bullfight. I get that the sounds are very similar (I was completely lost throughout the video 😂), but when they were guessing mexico, I was like: what do you mean??? It's totally different!! 😆😆

As a Ukrainian, I am very thankful to you for acknowledging that the "Carol of the Bells", as it is known in Europe and especially in the US, is actually a Ukrainian pagan spring folk song "Shchedryk", that later became a part of a Christian tradition and was arranged for the choir by Ukrainian composer Leontovych in 1916. After Ukrainian National Choir performed it at Carnegie Hall in 1921, the song was translated into English and presented as a Christmas carol in the US and Canada. For me, this is the most fascinating Christmas carol ever.
its actually my personal favorite as the melody seems so dark and foreboding to me.
Yes!!! As a Ukrainian, I was beyond happy for the recognition :)
овва, приємно було бачити нашу країну в списку! :)
i thought it was the frog song from Harry Potter XD
It's always been on of my favorite Christmas carols. Most of them are pleasant and relaxing, but Carol of the Bells is so intense. I'm happy to learn it's from Ukraine.
The reason why middle eastern and indian music sound similar, especially areas that fall under erstwhile Ottoman empire/ Persia/ the stepp, is because we were conquered by the Persian kings and people from the steph and we had significant exchange of culture and trade with the Arabic and middle-eastern kingdoms. South-east Asian music also has quite a few similarities to south indian classical music because of the influence of the chola dynasty ( a southern and eastern indian kingdom) on places like Cambodia, Indonesia , Thailand, Phillipines and Malaysia.
thanks for the history refresher...much appreciated
Wow
Yeah agree, I think Dangdut from Indonesia is hugely influenced by Indian and Middle Eastern music. It's just these lately that they brought more of the Javanese influence to create a genre called Koplo.
And for philippines there is also spanish because yeah they invaded us
And for philippines there is also spanish because yeah they invaded us
"Zwei kleine Italiener" is actually a Eurovision song. A very, very old one.
1962, my dad was 3, and my mom was nonexistent
I'm Indonesian. Specifically Javanese. Indonesia has so many different ethnicity within one country I can't quite pinpoint the origin of that song used as Indonesian image. Javanese folk songs don't sound like that or I'd have recognized it in a heartbeat.
Anyways, that song is from Sumatra. It's clear by the vague Melayu tune in it. Dunno which specific province in Sumatra tho.
Setelah didengar 3x, Ig.. Minangkabau? Sukuku Minang dan suaranya kedengaran familiar di kuping aku. Tapi Minang tuh sendiri juga punya beberapa bahasa yg berbeda tiap daerahnya. Jadi kurang tau lebih jauh spesifiknya di mana.
I'm a Thai fan and I literally laughed out loud when the music started playing 😂 It's actually traditional northeastern music, which is influenced by Laotian culture. Being Italian I immediately recognized Funiculi Funicula 8:06. It's a traditional song from Naples. And it's sang in dialetto napoletano (in dialect from Naples). This song was made in the 1800 to celebrate the building of the first funicular in Naples!!!! The words basically mean let's go to the funicular hahaha
i first hear this song because Peter griffin sing it in one of the family guy episodes. He change the lyrics but the melody is there..... something about pointy hat.
You know what's hilarious, when I was in grade school chorus (USA) we sang a song with that exact tune, and the chorus was 'Funiculi Funicula'. The rest was in English, it was basically about being happy and wanting to spread music. (This was like, grade 4. Not extremely advanced.) No idea how accurate a translation that was. Also, they used the basic tune in the old commercials for the Doodle Dome back in the late 80's - early 90's. (Like an Etch-a-Sketch, but round.)
That piece sounded familiar to me, it seems pretty popular! Thank you for sharing that tidbit here. I like history and this was a nice comment to discover :D
My favorite version of the song is sung by Mario Lanza. Big, merry, and whimsical! I have to go listen to it now!
I'm not Italian but my parents used to listen to traditional Italian songs a lot, so I recognized it right away, as I did O Sole Mio during their piano charade with Sophie. Love these songs as they are so beautiful

04:05 we actually got a song, in danish called three small chinese people on højbro square, but it's mostly a kids song meant for learning the vowels so you basically repeat the two lines in the song and change vowels. it's pretty inoffensive despite the name, i think "kinesere" was chosen because of it's lenght and the number of vowels
Same in Germany, "Drei Chinesen mit'm Kontrabass"

The song from Germany is from the 60s.
At that time, many workers from Turkey and Italy came to Germany because there were many jobs available and there was no work at home.
The lyrics are about 2 young Italians who had to leave their loved ones at home and are very homesick.
Fun Fact: there is a german song that is called "Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass". The name translated into the englisch language is three chinese with a double bass.

Well, this went well! 😂 At least when they said Ukraine/Sweden is kind of close, they mixed up two countries with the same colours of their flags.
What really impressed me was how confident Brett was with the Norwegian music. Well done!
What really impressed *me* was Brett guessing Austria for the Slovenian entry. Because he wasn't really wrong. I mean, he was, but it could have been Austrian. Music like this is still played in Austria. It's not so much either Slovenian OR Austrian, it's more that it's in the a cross-border musical tradition of Alpine Folk Music (Alpenländische Volksmusik). Look up "Blasmusik Österreich" (brass music Austria) on UA-cam, you'll find a lot of entries that are basically indistinguishable from the excerpt chosen. I'm from Austria, I've been singing and playing various types of Austrian folk music since early childhood, and I was completely convinced the answer was Austria. Bit arrogant of me ofc, since I did know that Alpine Folk Music isn't an exclusively Austrian thing. I bet you anything that everyone in Austria (apart from people who actually know this specific piece of music) would have got this wrong.

As a Filipino when it got to the Cariñosa, I immediately recognized it because I remember dancing to that in 3rd grade-
The cariñosa originated in Panay Island and was introduced by the Spaniards during their colonization of the Philippines. It is related to some of the Spanish dances like the bolero and the Mexican dance jarabe tapatio or the Mexican hat dance. They were right when they said that it sounded like Spanish lol
I also knew about the Plight of the Samurai because I remember watching a traditional Japanese umbrella dance with that song.
pero ang tunog ng mga banduria ay SOBRANG obvious. alam ko kaagad
They played this track a lot for the PE 2 warmup session at my uni
Bigla nag click lang sa utak eh hahah
basic fundamental steps of rhythmic dance eyyyy
I recognized it because there is a philippino rapper who had a viral video months ago who used this song in the beggining of his rap!!! I didn't know this is a famous song in the philippines.

My language and musical analysis phases came in handy for this again (Still in both, I was taught French and it’s easy to pick out similarities in other languages, like Portuguese, though it wasn’t related, immediately made me think of most Western European countries…as for the Spanish music, I think I was absorbed enough in the background music for Coco that I remembered styles that could be similar, hence me guessing Spanish-speaking countries/regions when Cuba and Chile came up)
I enjoy watching your videos, but I think that the next step for you guys is to study the music of the countries you missed. :) And then take another Stereotypical Music quiz. Looking forward to it. Ah, here is a hint: whenever you hear castanets, it is usually music from Spain. :)
I'm from Thailand. I couldn't stop laughing when you guys sang Chinese lyrics in Thai song.
Twoset: Two small Italians, that sounds racist
Me, a German: *sweating*
Twoset: Imagine they made a song like Two small Chinese
Me: *SWEATING*
but to be fair it's actually 3 Chinese with a double bass, still racist though
lol, it's a cute song for kids. i wonder why the lyricist chose Chinese tho
I immediatley thought of that too. it’s actually quite sad, that it’s so hard to get rid of these racist songs. but apperently still today there are many people that are not arware…
"Eddy, if you think a song called "two small chinese" would be racist I've got to tell you one of the most famous german children songs is called" 3 Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass" and in every verse all vowels are replaced by a single one to mimic the sound of chinese: ' D the lyrics are about 3 chinese people playing the double bass on the street and then being arrested by the police."
But are they really arrested? Because I always thought the police came, because of the dubble bass, not because they were chinese
I actually thought they were arrested for not having a licence for playing on the streets, but that's probably just me
More videos like this, please!! Greetings from Brazil!!👍
This is so funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Definitely keep going with these guessing games. 😆
12:24 they just sang Tetris
4:11 THE WAY I JUMPED
I was joking to myself that if they were going to put Chile it would be this song (sad that it wasn’t the epic piano opening). I’M SO HAPPY SOMOS EL MEJOR PAÍS DE CHILE HERMANO 🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱
VIVA CHILE MIERDAAAAAAAAA
SI WEON VIVA CHILE MIERDAA
SOMO EL MEJOR PAIS DE CHILE WEOOOON
PORQUE SOMOS TANTOS
As a Dutch, I've heard a lot of the European songs played, sang the kleine italianer and funicoli funicola out loud, but I've never in my live heard that Dutch song 🙈
🎼♥️
I had a double take when I heard Cariñosa in a Twoset video hahaha
That opening melody style (which sounds sorta like an arpeggio) is very common in many Filipino folks songs, especially the ones that were influenced by Spanish music
The music at around 2:00 is SO Colombian, it made me homesick from the first note :( The type of music is called pasillo, and it's a type of dance-hall music from the first half of the 20th century popular in Colombia at the time. It incorporated lots of Spanish and other European elements (waltz, for instance), and mixed in some Indigenous/African rhythms and other elements.
As a Slovenian, I appreciate not confusing us with Slovakia :)
I'm Slovenian and I actually used to play the accordion. As soon as I heard the 'BA-DU-DU-DUUUU' from Na golici I immediately recognised it, lol. The amount of hours I spent practicing that song just to be able to play it at the correct speed is mind-boggling.
(excuse my horrid grammar, ty.)
My God...I would love to see a whole video of you both speaking in spanish. Greetings from Colombia! ❤
9:14
Eddy sounds like a vacuum cleaner
STOP IM LOSING IT
STOPP LMAOO
9:52 I will die laughing😂
Hi guys I'm a fan from Thailand and I have been watching you guys for the long time, thank you for spreading "Classical Music" to peoples I'm really glad.
A Thai subscriber here~ I know nothing about music but I love watching your content, please keep it up 👍
4:28 I'm Malaysian but was actually thinking of an Arabic country myself. Something about it seemed familiar enough to me though that I just waited for the answer. We weren't completely off though as Zapin is an Arabic influenced dance and music that originally came to Malaysia from Yemen hence why it sounded like something you would hear from Turkey or Arab countries.
actually my first guess that came to my mind was Yemen. I am more amazed now.
I thought the same too but it gave away when I heard a bit of violin (I guess? Or is it accordion?) at the end
Saaaaame! I was shooked too.
I am from Turkey and I thought It's %90 Turkish but lmao
I love reading the comment section after seeing videos like that, I can learn so much about the world we share. Greetings from Germany to Malaysia.
The one of Spain , you could easily guess it from the background musical beatings of the traditional instrument called “ castañuela “ .
Make a part2 to this it was so entertaining bssnjs😭😭
Ved Stanford Brua sounds exactly like the Dutch song Elly - Padvindster (the first two lines that she sings that keep coming back.)
It's a song about a Scouting girl that has troubles that get worse-and-worse because everyone gives her bad advice or tells her to just "deal with it."
And she's determined to stay happy but in the end, realises she's ended up as a lisping mother of six lisping kids, who lost her retainer and pills, got married to a psychopath and she's smiling still but she doesn't mean it anymore.
Yeah I know, it's a niche music-style.
