I'm fairly certain the Lion King song is South African, not Tanzanian. The opening part is in Zulu and was written by a South African composer. "Stereotypical" Tanzanian music is vastly different to that 😂
Isn't it because the movie takes place in the savannah of East Africa? So I guess Lion King is supposed to be in the Tanzania area of Africa, and not South Africa.
The fact that they played Rednex for CEJ and said it's USA, but played Kung Fu Fighting and called it Chinese because it was the Chinese version hurts my brain.
Yes, that is unfortunately probably the second most famous polka piece from Finland after Ieva's polka (leek spin meme)... I guess it is kinda stereotypical but I'd say it is more traditionally stereotypical than current stereotypical which would obviously be anything heavy metal. :D

"Camera dies from cultural insensitivity." -- That cracked me up. But seriously, I was kind of amazed at the ones they missed. Zorba's Song and Hava Nagila, etc. I guess their areas of musical knowledge is very narrow, focused hard on classical. @@israellai Same with Greece. If they were to go more traditional it would be impossible to guess but Zorbas the Greek is the most iconic/famous tunes you can associate with Greece
A lot of this music isn't from the countries or doesn't represent them well, but I guess that's why "stereotypical" is in the title, this is what people *think* music from those countries usually sounds like.
Argentina is kinda spotted on. Although tango is not as popular as argentinian rock, it’s still a pretty big part of the culture. People nowadays listen to rap and that stuff, kinda lame imo
Whenever someone says that "Cotton-eye Joe" is stereotypical American, the 'Merican in me shouts "BUT THAT'S BY A SWEDISH GROUP!" Then I remember Caramell Danzen is always assumed to be Japanese...but is also Swedish... WTF SWEDEN?!
Also Lion King was a little misleading - yes, it's an African language (probably sung by them too), but the composer for the Lion King who compiled all that music is Hans Zimmer (a German now living in the US) writing for an American made movie which quite a lot of the world is familiar with. I honestly didn't know whether the answer was going to be an African country or the US just because of the reputation that movie has.
Honestly, when I heard the song at 8:06 (I’m American) I knew it was for the US because of another video I watched, but I started wondering if it was actually FROM the US. It didn’t sound like what I would imagine a song from the US would (I was thinking it would be a pop song).
Stereotypes aren't always accurate. In this case its just what some unfamiliar or uncultured people would generally associate with Brazil. Kinda like how people would associate Fortunate Son with Vietnam.
I loved that they included the Russian folk song that most people know as "The Tetris Theme". But nobody realizes that the whole OG theme of the game is Russian : Images of St. Basil's in Moscow, folk songs and Tchaikovsky for music.
This is hilarious for a European to watch. When they didn't recognise slavic languages - is there anything easier in the world? And Dragostinea Te is the only song in Romanian that is known outside of Romania and Moldova. The UK and Ireland, well... That could potentially get you in trouble.
"This is hilarious for a European to watch. When they didn't recognise slavic languages " its not when you know that Slavic Languages and most of other European languages are part of the same language family(English included)...
As a Brazilian, I wouldn't have guessed that in a million years. It didn't sound like a stereotypical samba, at least that excerpt. I thought it was some Eurovision song too.
Agreed, it only becomes really obvious at the end with the drums in this version. I think the melody actually comes from Hugo Fattoruso from Uruguay, but I find it has a similar vibe to popular Brazilian stuff such as Jorge Ben's Taj Mahal. Listen to Airto Moreira's version from the 70's though - Tombo in 7/4, it's called - where the melody is sang by a chorus with percussion in full samba polyrythmic onslaught. It really sounds quintessentially Brazilian there. That Bellini dance hit kind of ruined this one because everybody has heard it and got sick of it so they cannot appreciate other renditions of this melody any more.

I'm a Finn and even I was confused for a second when Säkkijärven polkka started playing. My mind literally went "Poland? Russia?... WAIT A DAMN MIN-" and then realized it's a Finnish folk song just in time before you revealed the right answer. It just made me realize that our folk music sounds very Eastern European.
Yet Finns identify themselves as being closer to Sweden and the other Northern European countries than to any Eastern European country. Mentally we're very Western and would rather not identify as being Eastern, yet since we're a melting pot of Eastern and Western influences because of Russia and Sweden, it's a mix of both and some traditional customs in Eastern Finland differ from the customs on the West coast. I can't really compare the mentality to any other because I'm not too familiar with all the different cultures in Europe and there are a ton.
@@kathilisi3019 Finnish and Hungarian have been isolated from each other for a long time, so although the languages have a similar structure they are completely different too. Listen to Airto Moreira's version from the 70's though - Tombo in 7/4, it's called - where the melody is sang by a chorus with percussion in full samba polyrythmic onslaught. It really sounds quintessentially Brazilian there. WAIT A DAMN MIN-" and then realized it's a Finnish folk song just in time before you revealed the right answer. It just made me realize that our folk music sounds very Eastern European.
well eastern europe and finland are pretty similar in terms of mentality and culture I think
@@ButterDog42069 imo (im finnish) i identify with neither eatern european nor western culture, to me Finland has its own culture
Linguistically, Finnish is related to Hungarian. So maybe there are some cultural links as well?
@@kathilisi3019 Finnish and Hungarian have been isolated from each other for a long time, so although the languages have a similar structure they are completely different too. And even though languages do reflect the culture they are formed in, since we have separated from each other many centuries ago there is no way that there is a true cultural connection there. (I study linguistics btw)
1:23 Brett's "comme ci comme ça" sounds cute and funny. Reminds me of that Beginner vs Pro Opera Singer with Sanna, singing Habanera and he just throws in random phrases like this while singing (wailing)
“Korobeiniki” is totally a stereotypical Russian song, and it’s also the Tetris theme, I can’t believe you didn’t recognize it! Or maybe you did and just didn’t mention it.
I love it when I get the notification that I got a new subscriber, it really makes my day, even my whole week ❤️❤️
I didn’t know it was a Russian piece, I just recognized the theme from Tetris.
They are too young for Tetris ;)
It is such a sad and melancholic song, even without knowing the lyrics.
I’m embarrassed to admit I recognised this piece from piano tiles
This was very entertaining to watch! So fun! ❤😁🤣🔥💯
