Apple HomePod (2nd Gen) Review! 2nd Time's The Charm?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 сер 2024
- The Apple HomePod (2nd generation) is a stylish home speaker with built-in Siri for hands-free control. It has a similar design to the original Apple HomePod (1st generation), with lots of sound features to enhance your listening experience. For example, it automatically analyzes the unique acoustics of your room and adjusts the speaker's output accordingly. Its bass-EQ microphone is designed to maintain a steady response in the lower frequencies, even when you listen at low volumes. That said, it still doesn't offer sound customization tools like other smart speakers on the market.

Oops, we have a small error at 1:08, the 1st gen HomePod is on the right side!
Let us know what you think of this review and the HomePod (2nd Gen) below!👇
I have 2 HomePod 2’s paired in living room and then paired 2 HomePod minis and labeled them “Living Room Rear”. And when you tap the power button on the remote once a menu appears that will let you select audio menu. From there I checkmark both pairs of HomePods (2 and minis) Andjust the core volume I want them to be separate from each other then back out of that menu. TIP - set the minis volume a little higher to better match the larger HomePods. From there the regular volume control adjusts like normal for both sets. Then boom I have 4 speakers booming Apple Music in my living room space. Be sure to reverse the left and right rear speakers though to match the front speakers so the left and right audio mawtches.
Lots of funny one-liners here. Great, complete coverage.
**My Experience with HomePod Gen 2*. I will try to be brief as I can. I'm all about Apple Eco System. I got 2 for a stereo pair. AMAZING! I got it as a home theater setup and was well pleased. I upgraded from no "home theater" setup, and i love the minimalism. After a few days of the HomePods not telling me what the humidity was in my living room and just saying it was still calibrating Apple had me swap them for new ones. As of now my new left one is all good and very responsive to my phone and apple tv remote. The right HomePod does not respond to my apple tv remote. When I hit mute it doesn't mute, and when I turn the volume up or down it doesn't do it. Walked through many hard reset's with apple, the whole red spin and wait for 3 beeps thing. Finally, took it to apple and going to be swapping this right one for a new one. Thoroughly disappointed with how many times I've had to contact support and go to the store, but I'm a sucker for Apple so here I am trying to get things situated. Hope this helps or if anyone has encountered the same let me know!
I currently own two homepod minis..but I’m definitely gonna get two homepod 2nd gens…
You know what I really love about these is that if you have an Apple TV hooked up to your TV and your HomePod(s) paired up to it, you can use eARC through the Apple TV settings to play any TV audio through the HomePod(s).
I recall when I discovered this with my Xbox Series X. I didn’t know I could play games on the Xbox and have the audio come through my two HomePods set up in stereo. It was so cool and sounded (and still does of course) so great. Then, to just switch back to my Apple TV 4K on another HDMI input, my movies or whatever would play through my HomePods as expected just as well. You can even do this with just one HomePod. As long as your TV has eARC and you have an Apple TV plugged into that port, your HomePod(s) can be your TVs external speaker output, no matter what you’re playing or watching.
I did this with 2 first-gen HomePods.
I love that Apple is still supporting the OG HomePod, but I might grab a few more of the HomePod’s (2nd gen) based on the review. Thanks!
Just set up mine and I love them. Some say the bass isn’t good. Well mine works just fine. Watched movies till 4:30 in the morning
SO GLAD to see more female tech reviewers. GREAT JOB! 👍🏽
are the ratings better?
You use a white and a black one? Why?
HUAWEI MateView GT 27 VS Dell S2722DGM? which is better, who try it?
We haven't bought and tested that Huawei monitor, so we can't say how they compare. We also do our best to respond to everyone, so typically one comment will be enough!
Not buying since I am happy with my Sonos network but good review.
Please do HomePod2 x 2 review 🔈 🔈
I really want to know how much better vs. than just one HomePod2. Because many people use with tv for movies, Music, Gaming.
We briefly touch on the dual HomePod setup at 4:50 since it's not actually a stereo speaker. We'll consider further testing though!
HomePod Gen. 1 owners probably do not need to upgrade?
That's definitely the case. The new model's improvements mainly come from the temperature/humidity sensors and a newer chip. It won't sound meaningfully better, if at all.
Wow! I knew that we already had Google speakers in Finland before homepods, but them not speaking Finnish is weird.
We're thinking of our Finnish friends during these tough times! 🙏
Complete tangent: What wish I could get that Dark Side of the Moon (presumably animated) image on my Apple TV rather than the static Now Playing cover.
On topic: these seem cool and if I hadn’t invested in a wired system before these wireless ones really began to mature then this is likely the direction I’d go. Exciting times in audio.
Exciting times for sure!
Hi, I have a small request for you. Would you be willing to make your reviews free for a limited viewing?
Most of our reviews are free to access for users. There’s just some reviews that are limited to those who support us via insider program. At the moment, we don’t have any current plans to change that.
Won't buy but good review
Sheesh. Rtings fell off for the last 6+ months.
Pffft... No self-respecting Finnish techie uses their tech in Finnish.
It uses siri. That's more than enough to stay away from it.
