Chris Rupp and Darren Rust were the main arrangers at the time but I think this was Darren.

Tim Foust's idea for this mashup. He was aware of the lawsuit between Ed Sheeran and the Marvin Gaye estate due to the similarities of these two songs. Yes, that's Reilly and McKenzie Zamber aka The Hound and The Fox in the video and they also produced and directed the video as part of their production company Fifgen.
The Hound & The Fox also have a video of Thinking Out Loud that is them getting ready for this date.

I love that Tim threw that starting wap-wap-wap-waaaw out there during recording and they decided they wanted it, and then he realized he had to perform it live every time they do this song. There are live versions where he's just like.... *Sigh*.... *Big breath*... Wap wap wap waaaw...

This video was shot in one continuous take, with the boys running around behind the camera to be on their mark for the camera to pan past them again, the BTS video for this is quite fun to watch as well.

One thing that is often missed in this video (especially with reactors) is that it is one take. Beginning to end, no cuts. Adds another layer of impressiveness.
Love this mashup. I've seen a couple of concert videos where they perform this and it sounds fantastic - just more proof of how talented they are.

They killed this. This is so much talent in one place! Love your analysis and reaction.
Home Free, when they do their videos, tend to do marathon shoots. So they will take two or three or more days of down time and put into making several music videos. So this one was shot in the same location and in the same time frame as the Butt's remix. I think Chris said they had rented the space for 2 or 3 days so made the best of the situation by doing multiple shoots. I think they recorded another one at that time...I think it was "Country Fried Pop Medley" but I can't be certain. The brick wall in the back of that video is visible in the Butt's Remix video at one point. At least the lighting is very similar. So I am thinking they did all three videos in the location.

Oh Jen! I do love watching your brain melt and the top of your head explode! The fact that Home Free is so versatile and nimble with their vocals make certain that we Home Fries will never get bored because it's always a guessing game as to who's going to sing what at any given moment. And they'll never become stagnant because they continue to grow and challenge themselves. That makes me so happy! Great analysis as always! ❤

McKenzie and Reilly Zamber are very involved in creating the videos of Peter Hollens, Home Free, Pentatonix, and other groups. It is not surprising that they are in this video or that they have had such a close association with Peter, Tim, and Adam Chance over the years, collaborating with them musically. H + F, Hollens, & Chance are all located on the West Coast.

I am soooo happy! I have wanted to see your reaction to this song ever since I first saw you react to Man of Constant Sorrow! And seeing your eyes raise right off the bat at Tim's wap wap wap waaaa made sure I was going to see one of your better reactions to them. Did you note that this video was a one-shot? This is still my favorite video by Home Free. It has it all: two great songs, a great arrangement and a lovely story/acting/direction by two of my other favorite singers. Glad to see you enjoyed it, and your reaction added to my enjoyment of this effort by all concerned. BTW, H+F do a great mashup of their own on "Castle on the Hill/7 Years Old".

I have trouble keeping up with all the things you point out. (Many reactors just say "It was a nice song. I liked it"). Would you ever consider doing a training video with some tricks as to how us mere mortals can learn to notice the things you notice. Maybe I should re-listening over and over to the same song. One time focusing on Tim, and then on Austin, and then on BV, etcetera. But any tricks your splendid ear and gentle wisdom could point out would be mucho welcomed. Another fantastic and entertaining video reaction BTW.

Based on this one tune, I feel like Ed must be a pretty strong songwriter, both musically and lyrically. I was bummed to read he’s faced an actual lawsuit from Marvin Gaye’s estate. Not that I know him personally, but he doesn’t seem like he would flat-out steal someone else’s song. And I’ll just speak for myself, that I still don’t mind frequent pauses, since I get to learn more and more about human vocal production. With this reaction, I started leaning towards giving it a Like quite soon, but then forgot to for a bit because I got so engrossed.

Jen I'm surprised you didn't notice and comment on the whistling. It's very subtle and way in the background but accents well. Nobody mimed it for the video but I'm assuming it was Rob taking the role during recording as he has on previous occasions. Regardless, yours as always was a wonderful reaction. The couple in the video are actually another musical youtuber duo called Hound and the Fox. They're pretty good and have worked with Home Free members, Peter Hollens and more. Peter Hollens and their versions (one with instruments one without) of 'God Rest Ye Marry Gentlemen' is truly epic. Speaking of epic, please react to 'Poor Wayfaring Stranger - Epic Version' by Simon Khorolkiy feat. Chris Rupp. Its really amazing.
I like the subtle lyrics from "Let's Get It On" in the background during Austin's second verse/bridge (c'mon c'mon c'mon baby) which I think is being sung by Rob & Chris. While all songs show off ranges and talent, I felt this one really showed off the variety of vocal-fries, riffs, growls, cries, yodels, breathiness... just a very diverse showing here.
(Also thank you for having a transparent r/ah like me... as I am from the Boston USA area and we tend to only have a 25-letter alphabet here/he-uh).
I had to stop it after another far too many interruptions to clarify the smallest and unnecessarily insignificant vocalization technique, texture, choice in enunciation etc ..... WAY TOO OVERSIGHT AND EGOCENTRIC EDICTS where waiting to afterwards would have sufficed. Please check out a couple REACTORS methods and note the stops they employ !
I love watching your reactions to Home Free. By the end you almost look like you're mentally exhausted.

This was actually filmed the same place as the Butt's Remix. Tim didn't think he would ever do that beginning in a song. He was just messing around with the opening notes. Always enjoy watching your reaction and analysis of these songs.
