    Hey Danny! Another great instructional video. Used this one today to install an MRT offroad h-pipe and Borla Stingers on my 04 Cobra. For the most part everything fit well. I did have to flair out small extensions on the Borla kit that goes to the h-pipe to make it fit correctly. Probably just a tolerance issue with the two different companies. Getting the stock h-pipe off was easier than expected and once the cats are gone there is a ton of room. Unfortunately, I could not get the O2 sensor clips to reach as far as they needed to plug back in to the harness. Took all the transmission clips off and all. Going to just order some extensions from LMR. Thanks again for taking the time to make these videos!! You the man!

    Hi Danny, very good video. Found a 04 Mystichrome Cobra last month with only 39k miles on it, bone stock, one owner and clean title. Simply a gem. Plan to get some exhaust soon, I think a Borla Atak Cat back with an X pipe. Best channel to learn how to work on new edge mustang and Cobra!

    Just to add if doing a mid pipe on probably 96-98. I have a 97. The manifold bolts are 18mm. The manifold bolts on my 03 are 15mm. I have a mid length 15 mm for the bottom stud on the pass side that works perfect. I thought I would be set for the 97 but no. Ford had to switch the sizes up. I’m hoping I can use the 1/2 drive short 18mm to break it free.

    By the way I chose to leave all o2 sensors in because most of my fasteners were severely rusted and I was extremely nervous about breaking an o2 sensor....man that was extremely challenging getting the passenger side pre cat o2 connection unplugged....I had to run to harbor freight and pick up a very long flathead and long needle nose

    Great video thank you! I am wanting a nicer sound but don't want to piss off the neighbors or regret it on a long trip. Video seems to have the sound I am wanting. Would cat-less x-pipe be a good option over doing a cat back? Assume will reduce a lot of back pressure and increase power more than just a cat back?

  • @macknumber9

    Well I got both manifolds back in and put the midpipe back on and I got leaks...one is where the midpipe connects to the back (close to muffler)...that flange is leaking very small leak but it sounds bad...
    It was so hard to put it all back together especially plugging back in the o2 sensor connector on passenger side...I hope I can get away with just removing it a little off the header without disconnecting the o2 sensors...because I'm gonna need to disconnect it...
    Unless I can just cut off the leaky section and come back in with a coupler and u clamp thing

    Awesome! Love your videos Danny! Question for the pro... I have a Pypes H pipe for a 03 mustang. I do not use it. Can I install this H pipe on my 97 gt? Will fitment be a issue? Stock Headers to h pipe flange be a problem? O2 sensor locations be a problem? I have a welder. I would be open to drilling new o2 bungs and or adding hangers. Just wondering what is so different. Pypes did not know what is different. Typical.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  3 роки тому +1

      I know some manufactures make them compatible for 96-04 but others are 96-98 and 99-04 specific. I’m not sure on pypes. There are also o2 extenders you can buy to help them reach

    • @jamesa6272
      @jamesa6272 3 роки тому +1

      @@dannyjohnsonsgarage cool thanks for responding. I’ve been researching but get mixed answers: I find
      1. Stock Header bolts are thicker have to drill out the flange
      2. Ball on the headers are different sizes.
      3. O2 sensors will hit or be in the way.
      I wouldn’t mind matching it up it’s just the 97 stock midpipe is all rusted and you know what happens with rusted bolts when you try to loosen them lol. I really do not want a x pipe. I have a Bassani x pipe on my 03 mustang. I really Like The H and 40’s sound. Can’t seem to find many H pipes on the market. Everything is X pipes
      Anything not Catted is getting hard to find with the epa cracking down. Not sure if you can buy the o2 eliminators anymore either. I know I bought the x4 tuner to shut off the rear o2 sensors and bama advertised the tuner being capable to do it. Then all of a sudden they say they can’t do it anymore.

    I soaked in pb blaster and still broke one...but I don't care too much because I'm replacing the manifold anyway and I think they come with new studs and nuts....but when I reinstall the new stud how do I fit it in...does the stud just simply screw in and that sleeve piece stays in between both flanges or the sleeve piece will be on the other side(side visible from the tip by the manifold)

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

      @dannyjohnsonsgarage I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions but I really have nobody to help and you are super knowledgeable on these cars....
      When you removed those last nuts on the rear flange yours came out nice and everything was intact. When I did the stud came out with it and then the threads got stripped...I guess the female threads did or is there female threads in that hole? I forgot to look...I know I have to cut the stud out which is no big deal but when replacing it do I just put it through without threading it (cuz there is no threads) and then put a nut on each side so it holds that slip joint tight
      Do both flanges (the one that is welded and the one that slides along the pipe that is attached to muffler) have just open holes or are they both threaded? Because I don't know what to do if I stripped out the threads on the one that is welded to the midpipe....can I just simply stick a stud through there and tighten up both sides and call it a day?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  8 місяців тому

      Yes. Hold one side with vice grips if you can. The factory hardware has the self stopping flange but if it’s broken or been replaced with a nut and bolt, just get a wrench on one side and the impact on the other

      I sprayed lubricant and penetrating oil and went extremely slow back and forth but I ended up just turning the whole stud in place...I think some of the threads on the stud in the hole on that flange stripped and then it just started spinning...I am going to get a torch now and try my best to get that nut off without it binding
