Absolutely agree - I was just thinking the same thing. He very well may be reaching quite a few people who, for whatever reason, do not have access to decent coaching. THIS will make a difference.
Cody thank you for starting this series ironically right before my competition, I had covid weeks ago and I’ve been getting 35s and 36s in 50s when I usually get 30s snd 31s. Ive been trying to get better at breaststroke overall so this video will help a lot, thanks again!
Just wanna say a big thank you for this video. I watched it the day it released and this weekend i did your tips and I improved my time by 5 seconds. Thanks Cody. If you can do more videos like this
Awesome video , really thank you for explain so clear , please if you have time for the same way explain the crossover turn in IM for move from back to breast, thank you From Brooklyn, -New York
Yeahh more videos!! You rock Cody! Nice video, I was hoping for you to talk about the pull recovery inside or outside of the water though haha because it is a struggle for a lot of breakstroker!
Some swimmers bring their forearms out of the water on the recovery, and some some don't. It doesn't really matter that much. You should never lift your arms fully out the water though, waste of speed and energy.
This will help me so much ( wenn I ever get back to swimming ( because of covid ) ) so thank you so much. You are the best wimmer and ( swim trainer ) I have aver met and found online
Very helpful. I am always interested to learn and to improve my skills as a masters swimmer. i like the way you explain and the background information you share. Please continue with this kind of videos.
Thank you so much Cody for helping a lot of swimmers. I am a chilean breastroker and I had never thought about these tips unitill your video and I think that it will help me a ton. THANK YOU for shearing your knowledge and not just keep it for yourself, because I am sure that by shearing you will recieve much more. I admire you so much. 🇨🇱🇨🇱❤️❤️
Hi Cody!! Thanks so much for the tips, it's amazing how a single part can be so focused and important 🤩 I'm a breastroker 🇲🇽 and never thought of those sets, incredible!!!
Hi Cody! I’m a swimmer and breaststroke is not my best stroke so this video really helped a lot and I was wondering if for the next video that you have on Friday you could go over breaststroke kick.
This is a great video, Cody! I am wondering if you could please make a similar video on how to correctly do and how to improve the breast stroke kick? Thanks again for this helpful video on the breast stroke pull.
Do you have any tips on more efficient underwaters and turns? My coach usually is on my but about how I usually get “caught in the wave” of the other racers
Thank you so much, this was so helpful! is there any way you could do tips to perfect breast stroke kick? that’s one of the things i’m struggling with in my swimming
Thanks so much for these tips Cody I am 200M breaststroker but also do. 50s and 100s. These tips will be very useful. Always looking to improve my breaststroke. Love your channel. Your an inspiration to me
In my opinion when u shoot your arms forward and the catch should be at 100% (if u think about when ur doing the scoop you're pulling the water backwards so ur gaining speed from it) so for me i think it the only "slow part" is the out sweep
I love that! Thank you so much Cody! I'm curious, anyone please chime in if you have a thought, what should your feet be doing as your hands shoot out? So as you do the pull, your feet should be coming up to start the kick. Then as you shoot forward your feet should kick launching you forward, right?
Hi Cody, you emphasizes "narrow pull" referencing Lily and Peaty. I remember that Ray Looze always advocates "wide pull" (as wide as you can handle). Could you elaborate that more please. Thanks!
I agree with the difference in the intensity of each part. I prefer doing the outseep at 80%, the catch/swoop at 90% and the throw at 100%. It gives me a better feeling about my stroke. Btw, great video.
My breast stroke is my weakest stroke. I tried the drill with paddles, pull buoy between the legs and the strap around the ankles (and still attempt the breast stroke kick even with all that gear since I notice you and Lily do it in the video). My problem has been my kick is not narrow enough and I don't maintain a good body line but I noticed that drill really helped. Thanks...maybe one day I can realize one of my swimming goals of actually becoming an IM'er.
Adding the band in this drill makes it harder by a factor of 10. If you’re trying to develop a narrower kick, start with just the pool buoy, try the band when this feels comfortable.
I don't know the exact name for what HE'S using; however, I would just search up "swimming band". I searched that term up onto Amazon and I found roughly what he was using, and it works GREAT!
When you train breaststroke pull, do you use your legs at all? (I see movement in the video). I was taught to use a pool buoy and keep my legs entirely still when doing any kind of pull. Doing more than 50 meters like this is hell (for me), so I couldn't imagine doing over distance pulling like that...
Loved your video!!! Am working hard on the pull technique. my coach also said keep elbow high so that I have to work on! Do I raise the shoulder when I do the outsweep or just the height as they are in?
Just look for a swimming band. There is no official name that I'm aware of besides that. Personally, I purchased a clip on band for those kind of drills, and so far it has worked perfectly.
Squats and stretches are key. If it's your improper technique that's slowing you down, I suggest you binge watch "the proper way to kick", it helped for me. And as your technique progresses, gradually add in more weight straining to your daily routine. To begin with, stretch alot, do weighted squats or anything that works the legs (AFTER swimming, not before because it will mess up your technique in the pool), and constantly do drills and kick sets to work on your technique. For me it took about a year of SOLID grinding to master my "kicking" in general. Also, I've recently tried with a friend of mine who owns a gopro, recording our strokes underwater with the gopro, including dives. It helps A LOT. Anyways I hope that helps. And no I didn't copy and paste this from "wikipedia", just my own experience. Good luck with you stroke!
Haha if only I saw this video past year since it was my senior year of HS this year. I’ll make sure to pass it on to my coach to help the younger guys!
THIS is what an Olympic medallist should do on YT! GOOD JOB CODY!!!!!!
Absolutely agree - I was just thinking the same thing. He very well may be reaching quite a few people who, for whatever reason, do not have access to decent coaching. THIS will make a difference.
@@purselmer5931 exactly! If he had made this 10yrs ago when I was still competing, I would’ve definitely gone faster LOL
I love 2 videos a week
I’ve never clicked a video from an Instagram story faster. I’m a breaststroker who’s not even good at it lmao
cody with the second upload this week

Cody
Well described. The shooting part is so important especially the timing of dropping the head back into streamline during the shoot.
Cody can you do a video on ways to help breaststroke kick plz
I love all your videos!!! Can you a detailed session of your strength and conditioning in the gym?
This will help me so much ( wenn I ever get back to swimming ( because of covid ) ) so thank you so much. You are the best wimmer and ( swim trainer ) I have aver met and found online
This is super helpful!!! I have been getting way more tired in breaststroke lately which I am a 100 to 200 breaststroker so number 3 is super helpful.
He uploads this like 2hrs after i swam a 200 breast PB, could've been useful
Oh cool what did you go?
Thanks cody
Very helpful. I am always interested to learn and to improve my skills as a masters swimmer. i like the way you explain and the background information you share. Please continue with this kind of videos.

When is the podcast coming back? I'd love to hear about this stuff during podcasts as well. Sooo helpful!!
Do you have any tips on more efficient underwaters and turns? My coach usually is on my but about how I usually get “caught in the wave” of the other racers

exactly what I'm wondering too! He did say so

As someone who stinks at breast, this vid was an eye opener. Thanks Cody!
Best lesson ever..
Thanks Cody! my swimmers BR swim improved a lot!
What about head position? Should I be looking at the bottom of the pool the whole time?
Come here to sweden and buy the salty peanut 29 grm carbs 36 grm protein 2.5 grm sugar and it tastes delicious
As an older swimmer, how do you suggest protecting and train the groin
What is the name of the thing on his ankles? Kick pro from finis?
I don't know the exact name for what HE'S using; however, I would just search up "swimming band". I searched that term up onto Amazon and I found roughly what he was using, and it works GREAT!
You may have to eyeball the product on Amazon, to see if it's the same model as he has. But after all, it's just a waterproof flex band.
This is great thanks!!!!

Do you agree with at the end of the pull, keeping your elbows on front and not letting them go back too far?
good video cody thanks for the tips
is it important to use hand paddles
Do a kick version pls!
Thanks!

What about the land training bro? Can you share some tips? My kicking are too weak

What is the difference between the black tube and the band he mentions? Can anyone enlighten me please?
Cody please, make longer cody classroom vids😩
Cody, wish me luck at conference next Friday ❤️🙌🏽
should the throw of the stroke be above water or under water?
Above, 100%. Preferably at the top of the surface of the water. Don't overdue getting your hands above the water.
This man doing easy faster then me doing hard ... how
Haha if only I saw this video past year since it was my senior year of HS this year. I’ll make sure to pass it on to my coach to help the younger guys!
I like your videos!
Can you talk about the first stroke after a pullout ?
I know it helped me.😄
