After watching the movie twice I have to mention something as a diehard mob movie fan and very critical fan I will say. without question this movie is absolutely horrendous but I do wonder if the story wasn’t about John Gotti and maybe the movie was completely fictional would we hate on Travolta’s character so much? The scene where he walks into his house earlier in the movie and smacks the shit out of his son for the bar fight Gave me this feeling. I wonder if they took the same embodiment he portrayed here and put it somewhere else and created a new character to it travolta might hold up as a good villain. But due to the fact that the movie is so bad and of course we have high expectations to portray someone like John Gotti. Not to mention making good mob movies is not easy considering you have to live up to the standards of Goodfellas and Casino in the godfather etc. not easy. 3:33 the second man who was behind of the first gentleman coming out of the restaurant didn't do the Catholic prayer (north south east west) when he saw Castellano's corpse. Now he doesn't like him? Your typical "you lost so I'm on their (Gotti's) side?"
The next day after the shooting. Howard Stern called Sparks for a reservation. He asked was their seating available in the shooting or non shooting part of the restaurant.
Richard Kuklinski (played by Michael Shannon in "Ice Man") claimed to have been on of these assassins in his biography. But this, and a lot Kuklinski's other claims, has been disputed.
If they're going to do a movie in a particular time period, they could at least do some research to get it period correct. First off, Castellano's Lincoln Town Car was black with black velour seats and it was a 1985. This is a kind of blue, it has leather seats and its at the most a 1984. And can someone please tell me why Gotti is riding in a 1990 to 1992 Cadillac Brougham when this took place in 1985?

After watching the movie twice I have to mention something as a diehard mob movie fan and very critical fan I will say. without question this movie is absolutely horrendous but I do wonder if the story wasn’t about John Gotti and maybe the movie was completely fictional would we hate on Travolta’s character so much? The scene where he walks into his house earlier in the movie and smacks the shit out of his son for the bar fight Gave me this feeling. I wonder if they took the same embodiment he portrayed here and put it somewhere else and created a new character to it travolta might hold up as a good villain. But due to the fact that the movie is so bad and of course we have high expectations to portray someone like John Gotti. Not to mention making good mob movies is not easy considering you have to live up to the standards of Goodfellas and Casino in the godfather etc. not easy. But It even seem they didn’t even try in this one and they missed the mark.

Jesus, 1996 did this so much better. It's a simple hat. And it's a simple hit. I don't need a planning scene where someone explains what the hats are for.
3:33 the second man who was behind of the first gentleman coming out of the restaurant didn't do the Catholic prayer (north south east west) when he saw Castellano's corpse. Now he doesn't like him? Your typical "you lost so I'm on their (Gotti's) side?"

If they're going to do a movie in a particular time period, they could at least do some research to get it period correct. First off, Castellano's Lincoln Town Car was black with black velour seats and it was a 1985. This is a kind of blue, it has leather seats and its at the most a 1984.
And can someone please tell me why Gotti is riding in a 1990 to 1992 Cadillac Brougham when this took place in 1985?
Sammy is driving right? Public record has John driving yet it looks like Sammy is driving let alone the camera angle is on the wrong side of the street ...no wonder why it bombed at the box office.

This movie doesn't have the feel of reality to it. John Travolta playing Gotti reminds me of someone trying to force themselves to throw up. He's forcing it out of himself. The 1996 HBO movie Gotti was done far far more better. Arman Desanti who played Gotti was excellent and his acting came out naturally. Plus you had Anthony Quinn playing as Neil
But Sammy said that John was his driver during this hit. You think his son would have known that.
