I know right. It still gets me every time. I was born a few years after they broke up but they were my first album, then my music teachers, my trip sitters and my source of inspiration. Of course I was always going to cry.
Took me some days to stop crying over this music. I Started playing the bass 24 years ago because of Paul and The Beatles. Last week Paul did a surprise gig at my city(Brasília) and I was one of the few 300 lucky ones to get a ticket, watched him for 1h40m standing at the front row barrier, less than 2 meters away from him, never expected for something like this to happen to me, still feels like a dream, one of the best days of my life.
This song & video gives me such nostalgic vibes. I grew up with the Beatles music as a young girl. This also makes me a little sad since John & George are no longer with us (John was murdered in 1980 & George died of cancer in 2001). But I like the video showing them all together. I am sure Paul & Ringo loved doing this tribute & it must have brought back a lot of fond memories for them. The Beatles had a great sense of humor that is shown by some of the flashbacks & like seeing the costumes from Sgt. Pepper's album.
I'm an 81year old retired musician/singer/songwriter/performer/teacher & madly a Beatles fan almost my entire life. My dearest FGM, I am also one of your biggest fans. I already felt an honest love for you, but after hearing your reaction to this most precious Beatles concoction, I'm sure my love for you is true (C - Cm - G). Thanks for this.
This project and video really gets to me emotionally. The Beatles have touched us so much, that it’s almost like your Nan coming back with a message, long after you thought you’d never hear her voice again. I really hope there are more of these kinda songs 🤞🫶❤️🌈
Is it the best Beatles song ever? no, but the nostalgic factor makes it one of the most memorable ever. Those of us who lived through it can't help but shed a tear, like the closing of a really good book.
Loved, loved, loved your reaction! I've been a Beatles fan nearly all my life (born in 1954), and it's wonderful to find so many much younger people than me who are still moved and inspired by their amazing music. 🎶
What a great and fun reaction. Don’t worry about crying. Many other reactors have cried watching this video, even some who have only gotten familiar with the Beatles songs within the past year or two from their channels. This song is being considered as the “last Beatles” song because it is the last of 3 demos that Yoko had given Paul back in the 90s when the Beatles were filming the Anthology documentary. Paul, George and Ringo completed the songs Free As A Bird and Real Love. They gave this song a go but weren’t satisfied because of the poor sound quality of John’s voice when they tried to extract it from the tape. The new technology allowed Paul and Ringo to finally finish it. They also used guitar work from George from the original 90s attempt.
I cried again listening to this with you, Lolli. The Beatles are such a big part of my life, to have a new song from them is like a precious jewel that's been discovered in an old wardrobe. Bless you for featuring this song!
the song never fail to make me cry , i also loved how they include the sessions they made with george when they try to do it during real love and free as a bird sessions. pure love and happiness on this song
As a lifelong musician and also I grew up with the Beatles as part of my childhood music and culture and I was in high school when John Lennon got assassinated, I always enjoy reactions from people that are accomplished or knowledgeable musicians and singers and producers and so forth. It's like we're finally talking the same language. And I know you didn't get super technical, but it was just absolutely enjoyable. You're wit and humour is just icing on the cake.
The combination of the song and the video,is mesmerising. To a true Beatles fan, this was the best way that Paul and Ringo could say goodbye to John and George and to the billions of fans. The combination of the song and film broke my heart in such a wonderful way.Gentlemen i loved your music then and i still love it now.Its been an honor and a pleasure to have your music as a massive part of my life.THANK YOU.
24 years old, grew up listening to The Beatles through my dad. I cried listening to this the first time and every subsequent time I still get teary-eyed. It's weird to be listening to "the final song" by a band I've been listening to since I was probably about 3 or 4 y/o.
As Liverpool born and bred rhis is so emtional for me I. really like this song. Our boys, genius to the world. Beatles are such a positive force. I love rhem so much xx
As a man in his 70s, who was a teenager when Beatlemania was at its height, it is remarkable to see someone so young being moved by the music they made so many decades ago. Great music is ageless.
Beautiful reaction and review. You have an old soul which is unusual today in one as young as you. I am in my 70’s and love knowing we have people as sensitive as you to continue the legacy and appreciation of The Beatles -unbelievable ! You are beautiful inside and out and snippets of your voice reveal it to be beautiful and no doubt a great voice coach!
Thank you for this wonderful reaction. I was 14 when Introducing the Beatles was released in 1964 so I grew up listening to them. They are the greatest band of all time and I am happy/sad to hear their last song. BTW George recorded his guitar parts in 1995 before he passed in 2001 so this is all four of the lads from Liverpool. I like listening to reactions and I have subscribed to several dozen youtuber pages. I have to say that your depth of knowledge and great sense of humor makes The Fairy Voice Mother one of my favorites. Peace and Love from this old Hippie.
I love all of your videos, but this has to be my favourite. The Beatles were my first favorite when I was young, and for 60 years they have remained so. When they released Free AS a Bird in the mid 90's I was amazed how good it was, mixing John in (George was still with us.) This song hit me straight in the heart when I first heard it. I love that it affects you deeply as well.
Okay...that was AMAZING! I grew up listening to the Beatles thanks to my Dad. This is a flashback to my childhood, sitting in front of Dad's reel to reel with his headphones on. Thank you for picking this song to share. Love it
This is my favourite song and video of the year. It is so well done with thoughtful nods to their relationship and the vocals! Blown away by them. This and Hurt are my two faves of all time. They both hold so much emotion and lives packed with experience, love and heartbreak. Cheers!
I still can't see it without tearing up. The fade out at the end is perfect, but so sad. If I make it through the video without losing it, I lose it when they fade out. Such a gift for us.
Thank you for sharing your breakdown of this Beatles track. I'm sixty one and The beatles were imprinted in my brain from an early age. I recall sneaking into my eldest brothers room whilst he was out and listening to his Beatles albums. Everything I heard was perfect...the harmonies, lyrics, the tempo for those lyrics. I handles those albums as if they were the holy grail itself. I want The Day In The Life Of playing at my funeral.
I’m 71 years old and bought “I Want To Hold Your Hand” in January of 1964. I wept the first time I watched this…The more I see this, the more I become connected to it. Paul came up with the Idea of putting Strings on it and got Giles Martin. Peter Jackson did the green screens and video Production as well as separate John’s Voice from the Piano on the cassette. John was a Prolific Songwriter and had his own Sound. Paul is a Maestro, Peter Jackson is a Maestro, Giles Martin is a Maestro, and Ringo is a Maestro Beatle Drummer! This is why this Video is freaking GREAT!!! The 4 Beatles Harmonies have been there from the very beginning. They certainly were there in the End here! I enjoyed watching the wonder on your face while reviewing this. Simply Wonderful! ❤
The music of the Beatles will live on forever! I'm sure that there will be other great songs resurrected from the cutting room floor in the years to come. I hope to experience your reactions to those...
I think this is by far the best reaction to "Now and then" I've seen, it keeps together the emotional and the "technical" parts in a very coherent and effective way... 👏
I'm happy to hear a new Beatles song, but also sad that John and George are no longer here to enjoy this. I did have a tear in my eye by the end, RIP John and George🙏
Returning to this a year later having lost my dad to cancer and now losing mum to dementia, to see the love between the four and their last song together having been aware of the demo for 20 years. Your observations and synopsis are beautiful. What a time to be alive, to have had the four lads from Liverpool with us - well I was born in 1983 3 years after John died and it hit when George died (my dad's name also) but they'll always be the four. The first, biggest and best bromance of post-war modern times. You can really tell how much those four guys loved each other from the video, the way it is put together at Paul and Ringo's instruction, it's sublime. The wistful yet very slightly cheeky smile Paul gives at the mixing desk says it all. Yes it is AI assisted, the video more than the music but it's within whom they were together, it's kept well within that friendship and respects it, which makes it feel very real. My favourite reaction video for the song - exercising professional technical aptitude while allowing their message to abound loud and clear, with wonderfully cute eccentricity along the way. ☺
Without question, the greatest, most innovative, most influential rock band ever. By a VERY wide margin. If you don’t understand that, it may be because you’ve only heard the Beatles music, 30 years after the fact. You had to experience their music and influence, in real time, to fully understand. The Greatest.
Oh my guy god. You are adorable. You made me laugh and smile throughout and you are spot on with your Beatles knowledge and assessments. You did an extremely great and entertaining reaction. Bloody L is funny
I've probably seen over a dozen reactions to this song/video and you're the first one acknowledge the bit that hit me the hardest...just them fading out at the end. It really did make it feel final. We know John and George are gone, but at some point Paul and Ringo will be too and I'm not ready for that moment. I'm already down to one Monkee.
I loved your reaction, analysis and strength of feeling for the song , the video and the Beatles themselves . For those of us who were around in the 1960's and grew up to the sounds and personalities of the "Fab Four," it is compelling, heart breaking, but heartwarming as well. I am so glad that someone of your generation can get the same vibes x
Imagine sharing close to the same life span hear on the Earth with them. They have been a part of my life since I was a young teenager when they first came to the U.S.
Amazing reaction, with a sweet, genuine and natural expression. You convey your inner being in every word. How can you be so beautiful, in the absolute and complete sense of the word?
Yep... I've worshipped these guys for pretty much the last 38 years! I'm 50 now, and have seen and heard so much of their stuff, but this one hit different. There was such an anticipation knowing that this was coming out. We were told this woyld be the last new thing we ever hear from them fron Ringo and Paul themselves. You think "Yeah yeah... last thing... now let's hear it! We heard Free As A Bird, and Real Love... and I couldn't wait to get another one of those songs with the other Beatles worked into it. But then, instead of just listening to this new reease, I watched the video to get the whole experience. They sure as heck didn't disappoint!!! At the beginning, you're curious, and in awe. You want more. You see things you haven't seen before, then you see them playing together! It's alot of heavy stuff in the first minute. Then something profound happens (at least to me). It happens right around the part where the strings cut in (where 1967 Paul mimics playing a violin). You realize this is it. Even though they ceased to exist as a band over half a century ago, you begin to realize "this is it"! You soon start to see the clock going back to black and white. Tge music speeds up, like it does when you're getting close to the end of a rare visit from an old friend. That feeling that you don't want to say goodbye, but you have to. You try to hold onto time, but it now seems like it's slipping away faster and faster. Then, as fast as it started... it's over, and you're faced with that heartbreaking feeling of having to say goodbye to that old friend... forever. After the screen fades to black, your left staring at the screen, thinking about this last list, and now you have to say goodbye to this old friend...... forever.
7:13 I also wonder how many more demos John made...however, they would NEVER become a new Beatles song because George wouldn't be on those demos. They would have to use AI to recreate George...and THAT would not make it a Beatles song. The fact that Paul and Ringo still had some of George's guitar parts that he had recorded in 1995, makes this a true-all-four-member Beatles song. :)
They used the harmonies from Here There and Everywhere, Eleanor Rigby, and Because to make the oohs and aahs you heard in the song. They are the voices of Paul, John, and George harmonising there.
In a 60 minutes interview from the early 80s, Paul was asked, "How long can you keep this up, making records, and touring?" Paul didn't seem to understand the question, and simply replied, "Forever, what do you mean?" He has done exactly that.
Love this reaction! A dull fact from a middle aged person- the cassette shown is from circa 1990, perhaps a copy! A TDK cassette from around 1978 would not have been a clear shell and with different fonts 😊
Paul has made it clear that this is the last song ever for the Beatles. What you are seeing is the the last hurrah of a phenomenon that will never be equaled.
Good review And if you watch the video. The Beatles - Now And Then - The Last Beatles Song (Short Film). They will briefly explain how this video was made and how the music was created
Those "oooooooohhhh's" and "ahhhhhhhh's" are from three other Beatles songs! "Here, There & Everywhere", "Elenor Rigby" & "Because"... They dubbed them in perfectly.
not that it may do any difference, but i wanted to tell you that your comments and details that you identified made me have SO much respect for your. thank you for your insights!
Great song :) Was so amazing hearing a never before produced/released. On a side note: How amazing is it that Paul McCartney's original 1961 Höfner 500/1 Bass Guitar stolen in 1972 was recently discovered and returned to Paul.
... love your description of the song and video ... And I know you would love the film Across the universe with the music of The Beatles, sang by those actors ... Absolutely brilliant
...such a beautiful review, Lolli, it had everything I could wish for... its analytic, personal and emotional; silly, funny, honest, and professional... you just weave it all effortlessly together - wow!! And you also master when and how to come in, without breaking the flow... In that sense you are like them... a Beatle, or 'shoe' (I loved the interview insert!) - this is my first visit of your channel - immediately subscribed... 😎
I was 13 when lennon was killed. I believe about 1980. Ill never forget crying as i was watching the news. You have an amazing voice and reaction. Brings me joy
The thing that hit me was Ringo. Aside from the clips where he’s singing, it’s really represents what his contribution was. He was the constant. The rest of them are performing, goofing or contemplating…but Ringo is just tapping on…
If you get a chance to check out the before and after audio of John’s demo and clean-up it’s pretty incredible what they managed to do (coming from an audio engineer who had some doubts on hearing the former). Would love to hear more of your Abbey Rd experiences! Great vid as always 👍
The quality is down to Sean Lennon providing Peter Jackson with the original cassette that John recorded it on this time which was much higher quality than the multi generational copy that we've heard and the one the remaining Beatles were originally given in the 90's. The MAL software simply isolated the vocal, initially attempts by Jacksons team, although successfully isolated were deemed poor due to them using bad quality copies that were thin sounding, but once they got their hands on the original cassette John's voice was of much greater quality. Peter Jackson talked about the process on the "Things We Said Today" podcast which is worth a listen.
I'm a teenager, and have been BEGGING other vocal coaches/reactors, to react to The Beatles, and other great bands like The Doors, The Beach Boys, etc. So I just wanted to say thanks! :)

As do I. As am I.
You should cry in disappointment.
@@celosemnexo The Beatles NEVER disappoint.
A year later and I still cry listening to this
It took 3 days to not cry anymore when hearing the song. The ending with the bowing and fading Beatles still kills me.
The bow is from from the Hard Days Night Move [1964], but they did not fade out in the movie, it was another computerized trick...

They didn't really know how to disappear?! 🤣
powerful video! ♥

Of course I was always going to cry.
It’s still gets me
Took me some days to stop crying over this music.
What a fabulous experience! So glad you were able to be so close and watch him play!

I got the Blue and Red album just days ago and listening to all of it. Enjoying them immensely! "Now and Then" wraps up their careers in a proper way.

Then, as fast as it started... it's over, and you're faced with that heartbreaking feeling of having to say goodbye to that old friend... forever.
After the screen fades to black, your left staring at the screen, thinking about this last list, and now you have to say goodbye to this old friend...... forever.
I've seen a lot of these reaction videos for "Now And Then"... but I want to let you know that yours was really nice. Well done.
Hard not to cry through that one, and laugh at the same time.
ringo looks so good because he lives on broccoli and blueberries, and says 'love and peace' to everyone he meets
I really enjoyed your reaction to and analysis of "Now And Then."
Song of the year. Period!
It's Too Good to dislike. A masterpiece
Love this reaction! A dull fact from a middle aged person- the cassette shown is from circa 1990, perhaps a copy! A TDK cassette from around 1978 would not have been a clear shell and with different fonts 😊
Check out the short 12 minute film about the making of the song, They isolate Johns voice and it's hauntingly beautiful. x
Endless quest for change and evolution from their classic rock roots onward, that of the Beatles! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
The Beatles had such a massive impact on the world, it's hard not to get emotional.
Was in shock 1st time... now am emotional to realise how much time flew by.. remember this comment.. it certainly does ..respect.
Connecting the dots of the past can be a very profound and awakening experience. Thank you, Fairy Voice. 🙏💚🧚♀💚
The "Ahhs" and "Oohs" immediately took me back to the Abbey Road medley.
Ah's from Because, Ooh's from Here There And Everywhere.
This was an awesome reaction. You know your Beatles and your voice is beautiful.
Your analyse is very good. Simplicity and magic!
Love it so so MUCH!
There is no fan in the world who has not shed tears with the back in time and good bye section of the video....😢
a beatles masterpiece love your reaction
Loved your reaction. Bless you
Big Hugs...your review and analysis, and of course your version of British Wit ALWAYS makes me smile... Thank You..
❤
Loved your insights.
They are the greatest, daylight second.
I really like this song. Is sentimental and the video is amazing! The Beatles forever!❤❤
Wonderful, enlightening reaction! Respect
I'm not crying. We're both crying.
Loved your comments and interjections!
Absolutely beyond sublime and always will be ❤️🔥
... love your description of the song and video ...
Love your reactions. You really care. Well done
Loved it!
😭😭😭 I loved it ❤
I've watched something like 100 reaction videos to Now and Then. Yours is the only one that explains oohs and ahs.
Very emotional, Gorgeous Fairy
I loved this song
I'm a teenager, and have been BEGGING other vocal coaches/reactors, to react to The Beatles, and other great bands like The Doors, The Beach Boys, etc. So I just wanted to say thanks! :)
