If you like Blackadder, you should definitely try Upstart Crow (after all, it's written by Ben Elton).
If you've never heard about Blackadder, yet you like pseudohistorical sitcoms, you might still find Upstart Crow quite entertaining.
If you're usually not into sitcoms, yet you like films that play with widespread stereotypes and general knowledge about Shakespeare, and you also suppose you could endure some ridiculous jokes as long as they are combined with the good ones - I still recommend to try Upstart Crow.
It might not be the best sitcom of all time (I probably give my vote to Yes, Minister and Blackadder), but it's a good one. It's kind of a Blackadder-ish series, but unlike Blackadder, there's no concentration of wit in just one character.
And Kate is just precious.
I do understand why had they made the Kit/Kate storyline so short and unequivocal (yes, Kit is everything Kate called him), yet I still believe it would be much more interesting if there was some hope that Kit's moral values would change. And I really want them to show some Benedick/Beatrice situations in the third season.

I see what you mean! At first it took me some time to get used to Upstart Crow Kit, actually. Though any and every cinematic Kit has... his own, quite unique style :D Speaking of ADoW, it's rather funny to remember Trystan Gravelle's interpretation of Kit in Anonymous :) -I still regret that Gravelle won't be in ADoW season 3...-
I actually saw tnt's Will with Jamie Campbell Bower as Kit Marlowe and now I just can not see him with the same eyes I used to

Yes, that's her, but in Upstart Crown she plays a harmless (well, almost harmless XD) smart cinnamon roll :D Thank you very much! ^^
Noo my eyes! If I ever see Yara alive again i hope her badassery doesn’t melt away because this character pops into my head lol. I will have to check this show out after thrones is done tho!
They made Christopher Marlowe straight? that's some bull right there...
And I thought the most disturbing thing would be "they made Marlowe a pretentious roisterer who couldn't master even the shortest poem and used Shakespeare to get some fame" :D It's a sitcom, so yes, they made a parody, not a biography, and their take on Marlowe is a distorting mirror for the theory about Marlowe being the author of Shakespeare's works.
Actually in the show Shakespeare's wife says something about a rumor that Marlowe prefers men.
