Robyn is absolutely fantastic. I've gotten so into her over the last two years since my friend showed me "With Every Heartbeat." That particular song was shown to me when I needed it so badly, and it was perfect.
I live in America..I never heard of her before i heard Calum Scott sing her song dancing on my own..I fell in love with that song..still dont know when it was published but it seems maybe 90s?? But I am a fan..she is beautiful and I think this is my second favorite song by her..she is pretty awesome..
It was controversial at the time. There's a 2 songs referring her abortion in 1998. "Giving You Back" and "88 Days" It could be damaging for a young Robyn's career to release these songs in the USA. Also the sound of album wasn't mainstream, so her American distributors thought it would fail under the Britney Spears', Christina Aguilera's, Backstreet Boys' and Max Martin's influence. Billboard also lied in their article, saying that Robyn had a miscarriage instead of abortion. And in the end, RCA suggested her to re-record the controversial songs to release them for international market. But she don't wanted that. I guess that's because she was exhausted from popularity back then, and Scandinavia became her primary market
Thank god... I just listened to Robert Wells verion of "nutrocker" and I almost fell over dead in my chair. This is actually pretty great though. Great artist "over them years", and theres a bit of nostalgia as well :)
@MycketKar I think it's because she onto a new phase/stage in her music. She has said she still likes her old music because it has gotten her to where she is today. She often sings a stripped-down version of "Show Me Love." Another big reason is (probably) because 2 of these albums were only released in Sweden and were only really popular there (My Truth, Don't Stop The Music).
It screams 1999. My Truth is quite idiosyncratic for its time, but I guess in the label thought it was too mature for her and would have crashed against Max Martin’s Teenybopper Wave in the US at the time, even though she was the forerunner of it a few years earlier. Shame on them. It would have certainly caught on with Black radio.
Robyn was a victim of bad timing (Robyn is Here 1995) her debut album is simply fantastic on many levels. it’s easy to just say it’s a 90’s pop album but, the girl was 15 and put out a very impressive debut album with a combination of R&B, Soul, and Power Pop she should’ve been on the same level as the boy bands, Spice Girls, Britney Spears, etc. she was ahead of everyone else by a year and got lost in the shuffle in North american (She also evolved a great deal from 1995) her musical catalog is vast and ever changing but, she still has one of the strongest voices of the 90’s
Robyn is Here was only released in her Native Sweden in 1995, Europe in 1996 and Crossed over to the US in Early 1997. She scored two big hits in the States with "Do You Know" and "Show Me Love" during the Spring and Summer of '97. Robyn's 1999 LP "My Truth" was considered "Too Mature" by BMG Sweden and Internationally, BMG felt the LP would bomb in the States and be caught up in the Max Martin Teenybopper Tsunami of N'Sync,BSB,Britney,Christina, and Mandy even though Robyn had ALREADY worked with him on her Debut CD during '95 a FEW years BEFORE Martin crossed over to America. Robyn's Sophomore CD "My Truth" is a Masterpiece but the label wanted more of the same, and she wanted to do something completely different, and self produced the LP at just Barely 20 years of age.
I do enjoy her but i think she could do so much more. Her voice in that Rye Rye video was powerful..singular...commanding. She could do so much more than pop fluff.
@strawberrybounce2 The album is "My Truth" it was the first album I ever owned of Robyn's. My Mom's friend from Stockholm sent it to me for my 13th birthday; that was a while ago, but this song is still really good :-)

RCA Sweden decided on skipping a US release of Robyn’s Neo Soul Sophomore LP in 1999. I wish I knew why.

This sounds so 90's! But its a different, not terrible side of her. :3

I heard that Robyn gave birth to her first Child, a boy last spring. I really hope it's true.Mari ❤
I do enjoy her but i think she could do so much more. Her voice in that Rye Rye video was powerful..singular...commanding. She could do so much more than pop fluff.
Robyn Looks Like Ella from Happily N'Ever After
thank you wolf =)
this is nice

So cwute!
What album is this from????????
Uhulll
Someone, please for the love of curiosity, explain to me this video!! Any guesses??
Well, she did have an abortion around the time of writing this album... So that could be why there’s a baby in the video...
is the old lady at 1:32 robynn?? or her mom?? looks so much alike
never heard this song before what album is this from?
My Truth
Her 1999 Neo Soul Sophomore CD “My Truth”. It didn’t get released in the US.
She looks over here at around 19-20 years old then she does today! Hahaha, that red button up shirt!
LMFAO! that's what I was thinking...really weird!
Robyn is so beautiful and her body looks so hot when she's rushing to see the baby at the end of the video!
@skrabban60 I would say most soulful, but yeah I get your point.
Come to Singapore already!
This Song was to Ken ring a Swedish rapper . .
i wish i was older when this came out but sadly i was only 3
I feel like it's not her on this video, I prefer her new style is waaaaaaaaaay better !!
This is definitely her style and it's part of her just as her new stuff
role reversal or a metaphor for a man she loved or loves giving her a child
she looks like zack and cody's mom in this video. i prefer her long bangs haircut
@skrabban60 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Anyone know why she doesn't sing her old songs on stage? Is it because she didn't have rights to them?
Sony. That’s why.
That receptionist looks like Robyn. I think Robyn mightve been pregnant in this video
No
I did a cover to "Bum Like You" :) but by no means do you have to watch it.
maybe that is Neneh Cherry?
So...the guy had a baby?
Wilson Phillips wants their sound back.
LOL i don't understand it either!
LOL LOL
I don't get it.
old Robyn sucks..i prefer current Robyn lol
