Hi Jim! I fully agree. Since the pandemic, more and more automakers started pulling out of major car shows. BMW and Mercedes weren't even there. And Audi and Porsche were only represented by a local car dealership and only had a few cars as a visual demo, but you couldn't get into the cars. Heck even Mazda wasn't present, and that segment isn't considered a luxury segment. Very sad to see the state of things.
If you look at my 2018 New York Auto Show video, all the brands were there and you could access most of the cars (except the supercars).
The Orange Genesis sedan looked amazing but that Ford GTD was incredible looking. It looked like a mustang/skyline mixture. Very cool looking car. I really liked the wing on the back of the Z06 and the gray color was outstanding.
The Panamara brought back a good memory! 😉

Definitely NOT a fan of the piano black plastics in the interior. Shows fingerprints and scratches too easily. As far as the diminishing participation from various automakers, it’s disappointing and I stopped attending the local auto show in Atlanta Georgia USA many years ago.
It's actually OK if you apply the DIY detailing interior ceramic coating. Way less finger prints and dust. Noticeable better. Also keeps the light marring at bay too

@79blustone what's a good interior ceramic coat? Does it shine. Most of my customers don't want the armor all shine anymore
@djchess11050 absolutely not, it keeps the same gloss, matt or satin finishes on every surface inside the car. Slight darkening effect which makes it really nice and brings back the newness. It's faultless so far. The idea behind it allows you to keep touch screens cleaner from finger prints. Also on piano black surfaces too. It keeps dust away to a degree. But importantly makes cleaning far easier in my opinion. No down sides. Highly recommend. Also its a unique product on the market. Is is an actual ceramic product. It's great.
I have a 2024 Corvette 2LT Stingray. Arctic white with black/red interior. Love it.

Haha they only appear clean on camera. I can assure you that they were swirled and scratched, and tons of fingerprints too. I have yet to see a car cleaner than mine in the real world. ;)

@@PanTheOrganizer you’ve had Porsche and BMW. That Audi you were looking at was pretty nice but in still partial to the 911. The color combo is just stunning and it’s an amazing vehicle. I’m saving for a 2015 911 4S. It’s going to be my retirement gift to myself if all goes well.

Ouf, that's hard as many of my favourite brands weren't even there (BMW, Mercedes). But the Porsche Cayenne S Coupe, the Nissan GT-R Nismo and Genesis GV80 were standouts for me.
Why can’t any of the manufacturers come up with a display that’s not a bolted on iPad. Do we really need all of the tech that’s just going to cause electrical issues down the road? Just look at the new Mbz SL’s that have huge battery issues. You have to double click the key fob to lock the car in your own garage and keep the key fob more than 30’ away from the car to keep the battery from running down.
Hi Pan nice video ! Quick question unrelated, can you explain to me the difference between ceramic coating glass and a glass sealant? I'm planning on ceramic coating my car but I'm not sure if it is better to ceramic coat the glass or use a product like nextzett, soft99 glaco or something the like for the glass...
It's the same principle as for paint coatings vs paint sealants. Sealants don't last as long as coatings. Soft99 Ultra Glaco is the best consumer glass coating I have tested to date. And so easy to apply.

Hey Pan, most of my customers don't want a ceramic coat, they just want a wax, what wax.do you recommend. And I still use a heavy orbital buffer, is that way out of date? I have a dewalt polisher but it sucks. Think I have to get a DA polisher but there so expensive.
Really cool video Pan and there were a lot of cool cars. I like the concept cars for being unique. I do like the American V8 cars too and that cool Jeep Rubicon V8. The Asian cars can really pack horsepower per liter. How did Toyota get 300 hp from a small inline three? Thank you for a really cool video.

Very sad that car shows are shrinking. Was extremely disappointed with the Montreal auto show. I used to spend 2-3 days started when I was not even allowed to drive. Oh well the venues must make it cost prohibitive. Thanks for the look at NYAS. Cheers.
Totally agree. Even the NYIAS was a disappointment. Many big car makers were absent (Mazda, Mercedes and BMW for example) and others were only represented by a local dealership with a limited selection of cars you couldn't even go into (Audi, Porsche, etc). More and more car makers are pulling out of car shows and it's a sad state of things.
There were so many nice new cars but the if I had to choose just one ☝️ it would probably be the Nissan GTR! That thing was just Bad A$$! Great show my friend! 👏

My favorite was the VW atlas. I just love the elongated taillight in the back. At night looks really neat. But the prices in all these cars r just out of control.
I don’t even know why car stealerships keep making electric cars. No one is buying them. The Ford F150 electric ford lost money in the last two years with that car. Electric is not the future imo.
I can understand why the Rolls were locked but Audi should let everybody check them out and Porsche as well. There r a lot ppl like me that has never sit inside a Porsche.

Yeah it seems the Ford Lightning dropped in price A LOT in the past year. They can't seem to sell them. Tons of supply now, little demand.
And I agree that all cars should be accessible for people to sit in. That's what dreaming of a future car is all about. Mercedes and BMW weren't even at the show, and Audi and Porsche only had a select amount of cars from a local dealership, not even a full blown car maker booth. Very sad to see car makers pulling out of car shows.
The Ford looked amazing. But with the low front end skirting/moulding at the front would be decimated on the UK residential roads as we have speed-bumps built into the road surface. And thus the minimum road clearance for a car structure/underbody has to be minimum 130mm.
Yeah we have horrible roads in Montreal too, so it would be a nightmare to drive here.
Ive never driven a supercar in my life! If i can one day maybe get the opportunity to sit and drive the nissan gtR or the Corvette z06 or the porche gt2R would really be nice
I bought my first supercar three years ago (my Porsche 911 Turbo S) and it's a life changing experience for sure. I agree with you on the piano gloss crap. We have a 2024 Kia Carnival and loving it but Kia must stop with the piano gloss trim as well as the touch climate controls. They are too touchy. There is a reason why windows and door locks are manual buttons. GO BACK TO BUTTONS.

What are your thoughts on some of the newer materials being used on the exterior / interior of most cars today? Detail wise?
You would have to be a bit more specific as to which materials from which automakers, as there are more materials than ever before, it gets confusing haha. But the overall quality for most quality brands is better than ever in my opinion. And easier to clean. I think car makers understand that people have busy lives and want simple maintenance.

I was very disapointed with the Geneva Auto Show this year. This one looks 10x better than the Geneva, flying there and then it was not what I expected since my last time on 2017.

Nissan Z Nissmo looks nice. Not surr if its available in the UK. Type R is always a winner. The new Toyota Land Cruiser (not on your video) is out and looks cool for a ride out into the forest and mountains. The Mecan 4S is a nice EV. They're bringing out Turbo version too that's blindingly quick and has solid range

The Ford Mustang GTD is not a concept, it’s being produced and will be on sale later this year as a 2025 model. It’s basically a street legal race car based on the Mustang GT3 race car.
Yeah I read up on it a bit after the show. It will be a monster.

Were you impressed by any on the paint on the under $50,000 cars? Bought my 2024 RAV4, a lot of orange peal which I understand is common for all brands today.
Mazda wasn't at the show, but usually their paint stands out in brands under 50K.

No on piano black! I have some on the dash of my 2018 Murano, but nothing like, for example, the MDX. Brushed aluminum, carbon fiber, anything but piano black! 🥹

Hehe if you look closely when I wash cars, you'll see that I always can easily access the roof. A tell tale sign that I'm over six feet tall. In person, when my viewers meet me, they're like "God damn you're tall!" haha.

I agree. Even after 27 years of detailing, I still continuously learn new things, new techniques and discover new products.
Allo Pan j'ai commandé une toyota gr86 premium mais il y a facilement 2 ans d'attente. Il me reste seulement environ 730 dodos avant de l'avoir.
Tout est très difficile à obtenir, surtout les véhicules plus prisés. J’étais sur une liste d’attente de plus de 3 ans pour avoir ma Porsche 911 Turbo S.
All I can say is I'm glad I'm not in the market for a new car right now. The whole market strikes me as kind of boring. Honestly, after so long I thought the obsession with SUVs would have died down a bit, but not even close. Pickins' are slim for those of us that prefer cars and don't have six figures to spend.
It has definitely become an SUV dominated market. Cars are becoming more and more rare for sure.
Did they have any Ram EVs?
I didn't pay attention as I'm not really a truck guy. I filmed a couple but that's pretty much it.
Did I miss the RAM section?
I don't recall seeing one. I can very well have missed it, as I'm not into trucks so I wasn't paying particular attention to that.
I am a fan of the German cars and they don’t seem to be showing up in NY at the show anymore. I’m not likely to return until the manufacturers come back. I have a C8 and would rather go to Corvettes at Carlisle to see the product instead of going to the NY show.
Yeah BMW and Mercedes were not present. Porsche and Audi were just represented by a local dealership and only had a handful of cars on display and you couldn’t get in the cars. More and more manufacturers are pulling out of car shows. :(

Maybe its just me, but this year where i am, the auto show was completely underwhelming. The cars seemed spaced further apart and so there were less of them, and many of the higher end cars like Jaguar were locked and one was unable to even check out the inside.

Genesis GV 80 was the nicest
It was one of my favourites too, with the awesome Porsche Cayenne S Coupe. And the Nissan GT-R Nismo.
The gloss black interior bits really have to go. Besides fingerprints, they are dust magnets and some swirl if you look at them the wrong way. I have a 22 Golf R with the haptic controls, I have to wipe the steering wheel buttons way too often to remove the fingerprints.

I've just started getting back into detailing after about 11 years away from it. I wouldn't have started again if it wasn't for you and the few others that I've been watching over the past 6 months or so, you have all gotten me excited about it again and I want to thank you for that.
Now I have to take it for a spirited drive in the mountains and get it filthy, like you I really drive my cars and take as much pride in enjoying them and getting them dirty as I do in getting them clean.
I'm always happy to hear I can inspire my viewers to love taking care of their vehicle, and/or rekindle their lost love for detailing. I want to make detailing fun and accessible for everyone! :)
And Lapiz Blue is such a beautiful color for the Golf R! That's the color of the one I detailed in the video above.
Piano black plastic smudges and scratches are the worst! Perhaps if they used a harder plastic it wouldn't be so bad.
Yeah they need to stop overusing piano black trim.
I don’t think there is a large enough US market for EV trucks. Unless the government forces it on the people it won’t fly. There is a place for EVs but I don’t think trucks are it. Cold weather, hauling trailers, and long trips where charging stations are not prevalent and time consuming is not the right place

Dude I did a ton of research before heading to New York to find the best pizza place out of 2000 pizzerias in NYC. We ended up trying two ranked in the top three on most pizza review sites, Joe's Pizza and Bleecker Street Pizza. Mama Mia was that the best pizzas I have ever eaten!!!

I hate piano black. Beside the fingerprints, it blinds you when your driving in bright conditions.
I think most car brands use piano black to make the interior look more luxurious, but they don't realize people leave fingerprints on those surfaces so it looks nasty and also dust accumulates and shows so much on gloss black trim. I prefer aluminum or brushed metal trims.
Piano Black is the worst thing, you can never keep it clean, even with PPF

meh, the new cars these days just aren't "alive" like they used to be. a lot of plasticky looking cladding everywhere and it's like they don't know what to do with the front ends on these EVs. not to mention the piano black and insane amount of screens. expensive stuff to fix.
This NYC showwas absolutely the worst show I’ve ever been to. Most manufacturers completely scaled back. Stellantus aside from the Jeep ride was completely absent.
I fully agree. Since the pandemic, more and more automakers started pulling out of major car shows. BMW and Mercedes weren't even there. And Audi and Porsche were only represented by a local car dealership and only had a few cars as a visual demo, but you couldn't get into the cars. Heck even Mazda wasn't present, and that segment isn't considered a luxury segment. Very sad to see the state of things.
If you look at my 2018 New York Auto Show video, all the brands were there and you could access most of the cars (except the supercars).
90% of interiors look the same... Wide screen and... basically that's it... Ugly and non-functional.
