Seeing this video makes me want to get started on my 86 even more. I moved to SC from Indiana a few years ago and it's been sitting at my parents house over 600 miles away. They're bringing it down next month for me to continue restoring it. She's a northern Indiana car so she has a stupid amount of body rust. Luckily my frame is fine for some reason.
Like you said I was never a fan of any hood pins. However they are needed. And the crushing of the cowl sucks. I know because I left my pins out one day and my car now has the scars 😭
I like it! I’ve got the old school version with cables on my ‘93 LX Coupe and I’ve been wanting to swap over to this cleaner look. You’re video was a great visual on it. Suspect the swap over will be quite easy. Thx!
Mine have faded a bit, turned a little "gold" like the finish is coming off, but otherwise no complaints. Chrome I think would be a better finish anyway.
I've got the same latches (in hand) for my Crown Vic (Power Bulge Fiberglass Hood). They're the least intrusive and affordable of the bunch, but I'm still worried about any goons that get a hold of my car (random shops etc) and what they'll do to them when their meat hooks are slamming the hood like a stock hood .. Whoop on the Torino, I've got a "67 Comet, "68 Commuter, "73 F250 Camper Special, and my "05 Crown Vic LX (Manual swapped). Keep on tinkerin' and filmin' we appreciate it out here ..
Oh man! What a collection, 67 Comet???? God those are so cool, and so hard to find. All very cool cars sir. And the 73 F series is one of the best looking ford trucks ever IMO. Not to mention a t5 swapped crown vic??? cool as hell sir! love it.
Thanks for the fox vids! So it’s been a while and I’m curious how this latch is holding up, does it still click in solid, ever cleaned or greased it? Oh how’s your fiberglass holding up, any noticeable stress cracks and whatnot? My poor coupe now bears the cowl carnage, but luckily not beyond there, and I’m deciding on the least ugly setup. Quicklatch or Aerocatch basically. Love your account, thanks again 🤘
Thanks man! I'll be doing a lengthy follow up vid soon on my 86's and all its bolt ons. They are okay...no cracking or anything. I do have one that likes to stick though.
turned out nice. More importantly, great video. only thing i would mention is by eliminating the bump stops you cant adjust how the hood sits in relation to the fenders as far as the height. My recommendation is count how many turns it tkes to turn the bump stops down so there is zero contact when the hood closes. If the hood still sits to your liking, then proceed with the hood pin install. if your hood sits low or not to your liking, raise or unscrew the bump stops to where they were. Sorry, not trying to be one of those a$$holes just picking everything apart. Like i said great video. #4EyesForLife
No man perfect point. Your right if cant the hood low enough with the stock stops then the pins wont likely be low enough, that would have to be pretty though, or, something wrong with the front fender alignment. Since these take place of the bump stops themselves and lock in the pin, these essentially become the bumpstops. They are spring loaded so you want the pin in the lock with tension on the spring. Its locked in place but depending on pin height you can raise and lower the hood corners. Except for some reason like you said you couldnt get low enough...Stuff like this I wish I time to explain! but my vids are long enough already lol Appreciate the comment man!
Looks ok, losing your hood height adjustments (bump stops), not a good thing. Now you have 2 more stress points on the front of the hood as before you had the hood latch pulling the hood down against the adjusters. Hopefully no cracks arise & ruin the paint job.
Just a thought..what about shooting some expanding foam into the open areas of each hole to firm it up. It's a little messy but afterwards it can be shaped, lightly sanded and painted once it hardens up. Let me know what you think.
Yeah why not! not a bad idea. If I was handy with fiberglass I would just fill with cylinder shape and paint, or like you said fill. Someone had an idea to use a rubber grommet, with a star cuts in it.
Fiberglass hood with no latch, and pins / locks should be fine. Just need to adjust well to avoid rattling. If its a fiberglass hood that allows for a stock latch though I'd use it to get that extra point latched in the center though.
They are okay...One like to get stuck and I have to bang on it. Get what you pay for, but no regreats, still looks good and hold the hood down as expected! Check out my latest I go over all the little stuff, what was bolted on and how its held up.
Nope. Some choose to remove it as these now lock it in place, I thought it was extra insurance and liked having extra support in the center of the hood WITH the sides.

I've had a hood fly up and damage my car. Even if ya hate the latches there worth every penny. Great job on the install.
Perfect, now you need a set of redline hood struts from LMR.
Looks so awesome and it makes it much safer , great job man
Good job. I got the Drake old style pins for my 89 for the "safety" reason. Now to find time to install them...
I agree! The cheaper hood releases look excellent. Great job of installing them. My 2021 GT will get those in May.
Yeah! Ive seen real cheapo ones fail, but these look okay. Time will tell.
Looks smooth and clean - Period correct for sure

Yessir! in your case, just widen the holes! done. Good luck
Whats up everyon! Trying out this new premier...just finished the vid. It lets us watch together, chat in real-time etc. See how this works lol
That’s awesome and you made it looks so easy to install.
I agree they are necessary and they look good man
I really like them. I just bought chrome ones for my Harwood cowl.
Mine have faded a bit, turned a little "gold" like the finish is coming off, but otherwise no complaints. Chrome I think would be a better finish anyway.
I like them. I'm going to do the same on my hood. I saw the ones I'm going to get at Earl's Indy.
Just Ordered a pair for my fox, thanks for the great vid
No problem 👍 Lemme know what you think. I think for 40 bucks quality is pretty good. Hope they hold up well
Great video, very informative, and nicely done.
I like it mike ,good job!🤯
Thanks Mike! Always good to hear from you brother
Nice work, thanks for the walkthrough
Appreciate it!
I just picked up the same ones, thanks for the how to video! 🔥💯💪🏾
Nice! You bet!

Another job well done 👍🏽
Thanks 👍
Looks great! Good instructions!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I just ordered some made in America ones for $50 shipped I’m also keeping my factory latch so hopefully they work well. Needed an install video 😂
I like the cleaner look but I’ve had my hood come up not once but twice on me. Your face was classic when you were drilling the first hole 😂
Lol didnt really WANT to do it man, glad it turned out okay.
Nice install
Good job bro 👍🏼
I think it looks good. Very clean job.
Thank you! Cheers!
I broke my hood cable so I just deleted it completely and went with pins and the latch
I have never really been a fan of hood pins, but these at least provide a good low-profile solution. Not too bad.

I would say he has two more layers of security from that hood flying up!💯

Yessssss! Much needed plan b.
Absolutely! Redundancy!
Great video nice job
Appreciate it Mark
I got the same one on my foxbody!..
How they holding up?
HOUSE OF DULA
Pretty good!..
I like them on my pony
Awesome vid bro!
Will i be fine with no latch?

Looks good to me
How are these holding up? Any issues with them getting stuck? Looking at the actual quik latch but man are they expensive!

Nice
Look decent for the money ,nice job!
Hey brother I got the same exact ones did you have a problem with them changing colors? They went from black to gold/bronze in like 2 months
Man! No, lol still black and look fairly new, although almost only 1 year old.
Did you have to modify the stock secondary latch? Mine is getting in the way for the hood to shut.
No sir. Not at all. I did play with the adjustment. Likely its not closing low enough for the secondary to latch.
@@HOUSEOFDULA I had to adjust the secondary to get it to fit and latch but now it’s perfect.
How do you like that overflow tank?
BiPoloar, check out my latest video. Zero issues with it.
How do these hold up
So far decent. Not a year in and sometimes one likes to stick closed, no major issues though.
You think these are strong enough to remove the hood latch as a whole
Yessir! Absolutely. Ive thought about removing mine, but I like the extra support, the corners dont move at all when driving.
Do you have to keep your original hood latch?
Nope. Some choose to remove it as these now lock it in place, I thought it was extra insurance and liked having extra support in the center of the hood WITH the sides.
Add some rubber grommets on the underside and cut some cross hairs to allow the latch to go through. Just a thought
Brilliant idea! Was trying to think of a way to hide the cut in the fiberglass.
What size are those set screws?
IDK but BOTH mine fell out and I need more as well!
@@HOUSEOFDULA they are clumsy little fellas aren’t they? Lol if im not mistaken it’s a 0.8
I hate hood pins! These latches are very nice!
They are not bad at all!
Hate it . I put the 15th in mine hardly noticeable
HATE? oh man lol you put the 15th what in yours?
THis is quick latch
I appreciate the idea RN you showing it but I do not like the look at all
