Toy Story: What if toys were alive?
Toy Story 2: What if toys could contemplate their own futures?
Toy Story 3: What if toys could have abandonment issues?
Toy Story 4: What if a toy could have an existential crisis?
They keep addressing deeper issues in these movies.
Toy Story 5: Whats the magic behind a toy's life?
@@sbdesign2326 it's a story about toy
They're life! No magic or secrets
They already addressed a toy having an existential criss more effectively and emotionally with Buzz in the first movie. After he found out he was a toy he completely broken because he'd lost his purpose. Because in his words he was just "a stupid, little, insignificant toy." Before woody snaps him out of it by explaining that he does have a purpose. The just his presence makes the life of the people that care about him better. He goes from being depressed enough to let sid blow him up, to saying "There's a kid over in that house who needs us."
The script doesn't need to rely on dumb contrivances and character assassination to deliver this message and character arc either. Which is why I consider it far better than woody's "arc" in this movie.
@@sirescanorthelionssinofpri3705 Okay boomer go back to focusing on your propane and propane accessories.
@@sirescanorthelionssinofpri3705 tell me about it. i saw this crap in theaters & it ruined the perfect finale 3 was & basically said everything about being a toy in the first three was bullshit
This is to everyone who watches these two!! Iets all come together and subscribe to them just to see what happens!! Perhaps Something awesome!!!!🤞👍😉😊😎
Yess I've been waiting for this
Can we all appreciate how much character growth is seen from Woody's relationship with Forky? Think back to the first film, Woody couldn't WAIT to get rid of Buzz, who was causing him to be played with less. Now we have Forky, a toy who WANTS to get rid of himself, who is stealing even more of the attention from Woody. And what does he do? He keeps pulling him out of the trash, watching him EVERY MOMENT, because he realizes he makes Bonnie happy, and now he knows that's what it's all about!
bigger joke i’ve read all week😂😂
its just a shame he completely abandons that character growth at the end of the movie
@@newtvii45how did he abandon it lol what the hell are you talking about lol
@@lokimiguel2452 in all fairness i will say that that comment i made is partially inaccurate however there are plenty of other reasons why the ending of this movie is a gigantic pile of horse diarrhea, such as the fact that woody abandons the whole "let's stick together" mantra from the third film in favour of a bunch of toys that we dont care about minus bo and the sheep. and the movie completely ignores the possibility that bonnie will wake up one day and want to play with woody, only to find out that he's not there. and that's not an impossibility given bonnie's clear impulsiveness in what toys she likes to play with and not play with, like how she suddenly stopped playing with woody. that means that it's entirely possible she'll want to play with him again
(lets not also forget that bonnie literally plays with woody in the movie during the travel montage, meaning that she does infact acknowledge his existence and may very well become obsessed with him again)
@@newtvii45 Good. Abandon it. The ending of toy story 3 is a bunch of crap and a forced happy ending
This is the movie the made me cry the most.. it's really rare for a movie franchise to really have multiple great sequels..
In this movie we can see the evolution of CGI, of how the movie visuals changed, having in mind Toy story was the 1st 3D cartoon movie, we see the evolution the develoment of the animations
That’s right.
In the final scene, the lights of the carrousel look SO real, it looks impossible to be CGIed. And the cat?! Amazing. Breathtaking.
Pixar is actually making a “Lightyear” movie coming up next year i believe about Buzz!! Chris Evans will be voicing him.
it'll be an origin story about Buzz
@@marlonclark1896 Well not the t oy
@@kelsey1467 i know it's gonna be the real buzz the toy was based on
Isn't it a series?
I like Chris but honestly they should have used the same voice actor. His voice is literally my childhood.
To me Toy Story 4 is about Woody starting to do things for himself instead of helping others all the time. He is finally with someone he wanted to be with for over 2 decades and starting his own journey
I love the ending so much. It's actually a good way of wrapping up the series. Woody finding what his purpose really is. It's not really about him being loyal, but he's such a devoted helper whether to a kid or a toy like him.
Him being a lost toy now, he can help plenty of toys and give joy to more kids. I love this so much.
also, did the small toy ever had someone respond to his high five? i can't remember but i hope someone did.
Yes...I don't remember if at the end of the movie or in the extra-scenes,but I remember someone did, eventually.🙌
I liked the toy story 3 ending much more
@@maddox_4000 understandable. it was a beautiful ending after all!
the way i see it, while toy story 3 is the preferable and most beautiful ending for the series, toy story 4 is the perfect and realistic ending. (as realistic as a fantasy story could be). all the films actually pointed out Woody's 'calling' of helping toys (and kids) aside from his own. But i (personally) didn't gave that a big deal, not until the 4th film because i was so focused on the 'friendship' and 'loyalty' theme of the story.
so i think i can say i like either ending equally.
Yeah!, just throw out years of character development out the window.
@@KYLE1654-v7m it’s literally the opposite but ok
Woody got the Captain America ending.
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽😭
:/ with woody at least it made sense for his character
Literally bawled my eyes out when Woody & Buzz hugged for the last time 😭💚🤎
I was genuinely surprised how good this movie was. Mad respect for people who didn't just try to lazily milk our nostalgia (even tho they totally could) but ACTUALLY put hard work and effort into this.
They did lazily milk nostalgia because this movie is honestly one of the worst movies I've ever seen and is an insult to everything the original trilogy built.
They completely sidelined the original cast including Jesse who's been nothing but proactive until this movie and wouldn't just stay in the rv when her friend was out in the wilderness alone.
They turned Buzz who is the smartest and most resourceful character in the original trilogy, into a complete moron who can't do anything for himself for the sake of a joke. They even had him abandon Woody in the antique store just because his stupid voice box told him to. That goes completely against everything about Buzz's character in the original trilogy considering he's been shown to put his life on the line multiple times to help Wody no matter what. But his assassination wasn't even the worst of it. Now we get to the main man himself, Woody.
In the opening flashback scene of the movie they literally had him attempting to abandon Andy and all of his friends who are essentially his family for Bo Peep. The only thing that stopped him from leaving was that Andy came out looking for him. This is already bad enough but him actually leaving his friends and Bonnie at the end is where the real assassination takes place. They took Woody, who's core character trait has always been loyalty to his friends and his kid. Which is a character trait that had only been built up and strengthened throughout every character arc he's undergone in the first 3 movies, and completely destroyed it in this movie by having him abandon them. And don't tell me it's because Bonnie wasn't playing with him anymore, because that doesn't hold up under the slightest amount of scrutiny for several reasons.
1: There have been a number of shorts and TV specials that have come out since toy story 3 that show Bonnie happily playing with all of her toys including Woody.
2: it's shown in this movie that Bonnie actively decided to write her name on both Woody and Buzz's foot but not on Jesse's. Who is the toy she gave his sherrif's badge to.
3: Bonnie actually plays with him in the movie during a montage. In fact he's the only toy we see her playing with besides Forky after she made him.
So this movie is trying to convince you that Woody would abandon Bonnie for Bo Peep. Even when Bonnie clearly still needs him because she's shown to still want to play with him and Bo Peep has been nothing but condescending and verbally abusive towards woody throughout the entire movie.
There is no way Woody would actually abandon his friends and kid. Especially not for someone he hasn't seen for 9 years and has been nothing but a bitch to him throughout the entire time they've spent together.
This movie is a piece of shit that actively destroys the main characters of the original trilogy.
@@sirescanorthelionssinofpri3705 You missed the ENTIRE point of Woody's character holy shit lmfao
@@Creaations you mean how he's an incredibly loyal person who'd never abandon his family or his kid no matter what? Especially for someone he hasn't seen in 9 years who treated him like crap for almost the entirety of their reunion? Nah, I didn't miss the point dude, you did lmao
@@sirescanorthelionssinofpri3705 Woody risked his life to save Buzz in Toy Story 1. He then risked his life to be able to make Jessie happy by going to Japan and he later risked himself getting caught in the 3rd film to save everyone. He is a selfless character, NOT LOYAL. He was willing to do things he knew other toys wouldn't do for him. Toy Story 4 allowed him to finally have 1 thing for himself and that was the closure of him finally being able to do something for himself rather than someone else. You named yourself after one of the worst characters in Seven Deadly Sins, that manga was DOGSHIT homie. Don't come to me about how writing works when you repping that doodoo💀💀
@@Creaations so because I'm a fan of seven deadly sins I don't know how writing works? I'm also a massive fan of Berserk, Fullmetal Alchemist, Steins Gate, Attack On Titan, Avatar The Last Airbender and other series that are considered masterpieces. Everything I listed had writing that shits on both the seven deadly sins and toy story 4. So your point for that is moot and you're saying he isn't loyal? Woodys mantra throughout the entire series is that "life's only worth living of you're being loved by a kid" and a toys life is all about making a child happy. You also listed off the experiences he had with Buzz and the others which just further illustrates my point. They're a family who've been to literal hell and back together, yet he abandons them all to be with someone he hasn't seen in nine years. You're saying this movie finally gives him something for himself when he already had everything anyone could ask for. A loving family of people who'd go to hell and back for him. But this movie has him abandon his family for someone who's nothing but condescending, patronising, and verbally abusive towards him when he hasn't seen her for nine years.
Am I saying it's impossible for Woody to want to leave his family and kid to be with bo peep? No, but they needed to do a lot more to justify that than to have him spend just one day with her after 9 years apart where she treats him like crap most of the time.
But I will say one thing you don't seem to understand what this movie does. It retroactively proves both lotso and stinky Pete right in their ideals. Their beliefs stem from the idea that toys don't last forever and the only way they can be happy is to seek sanctuary somewhere else. Which is what Woody does in this movie. I don't know about you, but having Woody prove stinky Pete and lotso right while leaving his family and his kid just doesn't sit right with me man. Especially when it's proven in both the specials before this movie and in the movie itself that she still cares about and still likes to play with Woody. So it's clear that she still needs him.
Man, that ending got me ugly crying for real 😭
I was so unhappy they would screw the perfect end of Toy Story 3 by making the 4th... but it's forgiven, the end of the movie was too good. The parting of the toy fellowship was beautiful, the goodbyes of Buzz and Woody.
Gabby Gabby is just like a doll I had when I was a little girl in the 1960s, Chatty Cathy. She had a drawstring voicebox.

I wasn't that bothered about this film however the ending makes me emotional as growing up watching these films, it's so sad seeing them split up
Same, I kinda feel like woody a bit lol I’m probably going to move out this year or next and it’s hard to leave your family but a necessary step in life.
Toy Story has always lived as a huge part of my childhood, and seeing this one made me very emotional. ❤️
I cried three times during Toy Story 4. The first time was when Gaby Gaby shares with Woody that she would give anything to be loved the way he has. That struck an almighty chord. It made me think of my situation, that I up to now, I never found anyone special. The second was that little lost girl and the third is when Woody hands over the badge to Jessie. Great movie.
I think Bonnie should have given Woody back to Andy. Andy never intended to give Woody away and it was also implied that the toy had been with Andy's family for generations.
Damn the ending of this film make me completely break composure in the theatre. Tried keeping a straight face but tears were streaming down my face when they all said goodbye in the end. I can see why this film is divisive among fans, but I personally loved it. My only complaint would be making Buzz take a step back mentally as a character for the sake of "listening to his inner voice", because by the 3rd film he was completely capable in every way (even in Spanish mode lol).
Tbh I never seen this movie but just seeing that scene with Bow Peep and Woody outside and Woody having to choose between Bow and Andy.. 😭😭
19:01 The little toy drummer boy with the accordion was a callback to Tin Toy, which is a 1988 American computer-animated short film produced by Pixar! It ran before the original Toy Story in 1995!
19:02 Tin Toy was actually the first toy they animated in a short story to see the effects of the at the time new technology of CGI animation - well, new for an entirely animated film, that is.
The character of Tin Toy eventually evolved into Woody but his backstory was used for Lotso in the third film.
You HAVE to watch the credits until the very end. There is one more happy ending during the Pixar logo scene.
Just caught up with all your Toy Story reactions and have loved them, great stuff. Toy Story 4 is somewhat divisive among fans, but I think it's brilliant and can't imagine the series without it
I can,but I'm still glad it exists.
I could imagine it without it. I just can’t imagine the gang separated.
Honestly.... I think "Toy Story 4" will age better when we're a lot older. Because when you're young, you still have that "happily ever after" mentality, and think things will stay the same, or be smooth sailing from a certain point. That's not the case in life though. I liked seeing Woody having to come to terms with that. We'll all get to a point where we get what we want; but where do you go from there? And most of all: are you happy? That's not something you necessarily see when you're relatively young. I loved that the movie approached this. This isn't a break in character at all, as many say it is. Life's complicated.
I love the overall storyline of these movies as they follow Woody as he grows and changes with the times and world around. I think that this fourth movie is a pretty perfect cap for it, and that’s why I think that it’d be difficult to continue. If it were to continue, I wonder if it’d continue the way that it has, following Woody’s journey, or if we’d go with Buzz’s group. Maybe we’d get to see the toys passed down this time in Bonnie’s family, rather than ending up somewhere else. I could see a kind of reboot with an entirely new cast of toys, but how do you top what’s already been done? Just about everything I can imagine of the life of a toy has been covered.
They are yet to cover "Nostalgia" in the stories.. The feeling of seeing an old toy and get that warm feeling of nostalgia and memories come flooding back.. What if Toy Story 5 is set in the far future where woody is found by a Man who became nostalgic upon seeing Woody, because he have a toy just like that when He was a kid. His relationship with his son is not good due to work or anything so Woody can be the key to fix their relationahip.. Then as the movie ends the Man is trying to restore the beaten and old doll that is Woody, to give to his son.. He scraped the old paint under Woody's boot to his surprise.. It revealed faded letters of a boy's name written under it.. Tears of fell down the Man's cheek as he realized that he was reunited with his favorite toy.. As the Andy goes away we see Woody looking at his back saying "We meet again partner".
bittersweet but fitting 28:30
The 1st 2 Movies are just Fun and Feel Good Movies, The 3rd one is Dark, This 4th one is like a Horror Movie.. but they are all great
@14:15 I think you were trying to think of Polly Pocket
As much as i love this movie, i really think it ended on such a high note in Toy Story 3 and that should have been the ending. But this movie has so many elements in it that i loved like the story with Gabby gabby, Bo Beep, and Forky that i'm still glad it exists. Woody is such a great character. I really loved his development throughout all the movies. Also the animation in this holy sht
Ah right if you haven't watched it yet, i recommend to watch Klaus later on in December(cause it's a christmas movie). It's really good
I never really saw Toy Story 3 as the ending as a kid because all it did was carry out the second film’s narrative and stick the landing. Taking Woody’s loyalty lesson to the logical extreme.
Toy Story 4 was like someone held a mirror to the lessons of the first two films to make the audience realise that as nice and important as they are, there comes a point where they’re not valid anymore for you and life will kick you down if you cling to them too much.
Agreed with everything here
Yeah I remember before toy story 4 release..most people being skeptical😂because the third one already have a good ending for closure, but who would have thought that they could be better, and I love this one the most, I think the ending just perfect! btw I love your reaction, already subscribed!
I know I’m a little late, and I don’t know if anyone else commented this or noticed, but during the scene at the beginning with Bonnie, during the intro song, you see the last time she plays with Woody. She puts him down on the stool and doesn’t pick him up again, her mom probably cleaned up and he ended up in the closet.. Just thought that was kind of a cool thing that they added, that could go unnoticed.
Reminds me of how Captain America got a second chance with Peggy.
💞
Now this one made me cry more because although Woody saying bye to Andy was one thing. But I feel like Buzz understood him more and knew it was time for their goodbye. That goodbye was just too sad. Would love to have a friend like Buzz😊
Another great movie! Loved your thoughts on it. Overthinking here but I kinda low key feel sorry for Andy...giving woody away when he wanted to keep him but Bonnie seemed so excited to have woody he gave him to her. And now (at the beginning of the movie) he's not being played with. Still a great movie though.
Exactly what I was thinking
That's one of the major conflict why some fans don't like this movie, other than that it was great.
The thing people forget is that Bonnie is not Andy and it's understandable that she won't have the same attachment. Kids don't always treasure the things we give them the way we hoped, that's reality.
Plus, Jessie gets her second/third chance here ie Emily (original owner), Andy (second owner), Bonnie (second girl to own her/third owner overall).
@@jayem7208I wonder if molly ever played with jessie
19:15 This was the year when Keanu Reeves literally stole the internet's heart and pretty much did so many cool things.

If anyones mad woody leaves...idk if they paid attention to any of his struggle this entire movie. Or his overall arc. I actually like this better than 3. Until the existential crisis at least. But overall i felt 4 was more fulfilling. Especially for a character like woody who clearly feels lost.

Tinny the Tin Toy is from among Pixar first shorts Tin Toy. Originally Toy Story was planned to have Tinny as the star along with a ventriloquist dummy who get lost at a gas station and at the end, they would end up at a daycare where they stay forever, as no toys will ever be outgrown. As the story evolved Tinny was consindered too old fashioned to be a consindered a cool toy so he evolved into Buzz Lightyear, while the ventriloquist doll became a cowboy doll. The kindergarten plot were used in Toy Story 3, though, and the ventriloquist dummy were used as The Bensons in this movie. The Bensons vocal effects were done by Steve Purcell, character designer at Pixar, co-director of Brave and the creator of Sam & Max, which were made into comics, video games and an animated series in 90's.
I remember the first time I watched the original Toy Story when I was three and I set traps for my toys just to see if they would come to life
I can't see through my tears this hurt so much watching the end I wish they could have all stayed together free but the split up it hurts so bad AAA someone stop the tears
I got some theory that Bonnie is autistic. For a long time, I never realy thought of it. But in one of the shorts, Bonnie was playing with her toys all wrong. Like instead of playing with her toys as intended, such as having her dinosaur toys be dinosaurs and instead have a Christmas cat ornament be the dinosaur. After they played, buzz says "the way how Bonnie's mind works will always be a mystery". That phrase is always said when talking about an autistic person. That along her attachment with forky and how she always needs a comfort toy with her is an autistic trait. She also has a bead bracelet and bead necklace too. Those easily be used as stim toys.
Did you know the destructive kid from the first movie Sid was in Toy Story 3? He was the metal head garbage man with the skull shirt under his overalls
Bunny and ducky was the best part of the movie for me
I feel that this should have been Toy Story Woody or something that was an offshoot from the trilogy. Then they could have made Toy Story Buzz, Toy Story Jessie, or Toy Story Bo. This feels a bit too "What-If Series" or just strung a little too far to be Toy Story 4.
So, this movie doesn’t actually take place 7 years after Bo was given up by the Andy household. It might even be 11-15 years later. There’s a short film on Disney Plus called Lamp Life that showcases the adventures Bo had before she became a lost toy, still as part of a lamp. It shows how she, the sheep and her lamp ended up in that antique store in the first place, and how Bo left. It’s actually a very worthy watch.
In this movie Bonnie is starting kindergarten and is nervous about her first day. So she makes a toy of her own out of a spork who she named "Forky." Now Woody has to deal with the fact that he's no longer the favorite toy. Forky is voiced by Josh Hale. Introducing Gaby Gaby. A doll with a broken voice box and wants Woody's. Also introducing Carl Kaboom voiced by Keanu Reeves
14:18, it was called Polly Pocket
For me this was an unnecessary movie. Should have ended with the third one
Benson scared the hell out of me in the cinemas when I went to go and see it, and now he’s my favourite minor character in the Toy Story franchise. As a horror megafan, no movie scene has scared me like that in a very long time. Toy Story has a very special place in my heart.
…and yes, you betcha I got a Benson action figure when I found out it existed. 😄
He’s with my Chucky doll and Annabelle doll. 😄

That’s totally a good animation, he should watch it if he hasn’t.
The movie was meh and lackluster. This is coming from an Asian, lol.
A better, amazing story Asian culture animated movie IMO was *Kubo and the Two Strings* . That was phenomenal 🙂
By the way, at the very end of the film when they show Luxo jumping in the I in Pixar, it is actually Duke Caboom doing it and you get to see the combat Carl get his high five!
Can we just appreciate the animations rn! ITS SO REALISTIC!!
dang did you also notice how they made bo peep the one who finds lost sheeps (lost toys) and help them find a home? I feel like it's so cool because she's a shepherd and her helping lost toys find a home plays into that. Woody is also a lost sheep lol
And I love Gabby gabby's plot in all of this. Her story is a parallel to Woody's. Gabby was denied by the kid she clung to, almost similar to how Woody clung so much to Bonnie that he nearly lost himself. He gave up his voice metaphorically and physically to see Forky home, again losing himself so much. It would also have sent a wrong message if Harmony accepted Gabby. Because it shows that ppl can only love you at your most perfect self. (Gabby achieving that perfect voice box is her changing herself too much to fit that.)
They kept Woody's personality of watching over the well-being of other toys in this movie so well. It's annoying, but it's true to this character and honestly, I yelled out, 'you need to get a job' when he went back for Gabby, and that's what the finale was. Him looking out for toys so well IS him living his most authentic self.
Don't worry about crying justin these movies make me cry so much and the last 15 minutes of this movie make me cry a lot
Those little toys you were thinking about is Polly Pocket. I used to have one. XD

Please do Chicken Run and Shark Tale
I was never in love with 3. I saw it in the theater with my dad and sister, the vibes weren't great on the ride back home. The movie was a downer, and even on subsequent viewings, it just has this haze of tragedy thorough, and it's nowhere funny enough to balance it. I think 4 might just be a better movie, it definitely had a more healthy, more humane resolution to the antagonist. But in the end, the later two films both fell short of the first two, or at least of my expectations of where the series was going growing up with them.
I just gotta say...if the toys that we make as kids come alive, then I've created some monstrosities...
Do Shark Tale and Chicken Run
I though this movie couldn't possibly be a good idea in any way and even delayed watching it after watching all 3 Toy-Story's, but...
... They actually did the impossible there and figured out how to make a fourth movie after the perfect trilogy. You completely change the focus.
The first three movies were all about purpose (in the context of their universe the purpose of a toy). They showed how you can end up when you have no purpose anymore and how it is if you find your purpose again.
This movie was about "your inner voice". It showed that you should always do what you think is best and that sometimes this can lead to your purpose changing and that this is not a bad thing (Woody is a "lost toy" but he actually is not, his purpose just changed from bringing a kid joy to reconnecting toys and kids and therefore bringing others purpose again).
So, yeah. Toy Story is still a series with only good to amazing movies 😅 and I couldn't be more surprised
Fairly well articulated comment.
@@clutchthecinnamonsergal8493 lmao yes.
apparently duke is based on a particular 1975 Evel Knievel Rally Stunt Cycle toy
Duke Kaboom is voiced by Keanu Reeves
Same reaction on the ending, im so sad, i hope they make part 5
