Beautiful race. And probably my favorite track next Laguna Seca. Thank you for the ride. It was totally enjoyable, even the couple spots when it got loose. Perfectly handled, and clean.
Excellent drive! My step father raced his own Chevy special roadster in the 60’s in Cal Club. He raced against a Cheetah Coupe in 1968 at the Stardust GP Can Am weekend in Las Vegas. The Saturday Amateur race, not the pro race. That’s the weekend Jim Hall went upside down in his his Chaparral. I really enjoyed your video and congratulations to your whole team for a really great presentation. What a ride!
As a slot car kid of the 60s Cox Cheetahs and Chaparrals were some of my favorites, but never got to see any real Cheetahs in a race. Hard to imagine that there were two in this one. Must have been different gearing. Sounds like it has the torque of a train. Fun video!
Me too revell track at home Knoxville Iowa had the biggest track in the country and I got fast time with a 2 volt armature in a champion alum frame and gt 40 looking body..the alum gears acted like brakes over the plastic ones..the 3 of those combos were the advantage I had.... Those were the days
took a few for those tires to come in but when they did, wow! except for that vette for a brief second it seems the only thing that can catch a cheetah, was another one! and the only reason the vette did was a slightly hairy corner, nice save by the way! a roller skate with a small block Chevy in it is the way I believe Bill described her originally, lol, no doubt! sitting on the differential reminds me of a 7-8 second 1/4 mile rail dragster racer a buddy had back in the 1980s. nice victory! and thanks for taking us along, great luck in future endeavors! ☆☆☆
Lovely car well driven... A symphony of mechanical sounds in harmony.. Love the aerodynamic of the cars in those days... 'lets just make a hole in the air and let the tyres deal with grip - whats downforce?' Unlike today where its nearly opposite..
I would enjoy attending these races. Is this Track located in Indiana? If so, where please? And, Congratulations on your Win! These vehicles, especially the 65 Cheetah have now tied for 1st place among my favorites rivaled only by Vintage Can-Am races which I attend in Long Beach, CA.
My son took me toRA a cuuple months ago for a weekend, he owns a 2019 ZL1 1 LE ,and i must say it was a blast , it is a very capable track car. Thanks for posting this video , you machine is wicked and really enjoyed the ride.👍👍🏁🏁 I would like to know moer about your car , is there any videos posted for that? Thanks.
Excellent drive! Would love to see an onscreen readout of the telemetry going on. Speed, braking, etc. Probably doesn't even matter in a race. Are you winning? No? Go faster! Are you winning now? Yes! Go even faster!
I am impressed of how fast the Corvette and the other Cheetah were .. at 8:29 Cheetah be like : " See yaaaa" .. this driver is a lot better than that guy but that guys Cheetah is faster.... and seems like this car has transmission problems?
This seems to be a convertible Cheetah. The other one was a coupe. I know with the Cobras the convertibles simply did not have the aerodynamics to beat the Ferrari GTOs. This is why Shelby developed the Daytona coupe. It was necessary to run at really high speeds. Could be the same story here with this convertible Cheetah.
that stingray the goldish green one must have a big block in it it pulls out hard seems like they could of pushed the cheetah a little harder but it easy to be a spectator and talk shit different when your behind the wheel actually doing it.... looks like a hell of alot of good clean fun! the red cheetah must have a hell of a motor as well but that guy dont drive as good as the guy in roadster cheetah if they switched cars they would have a winner ,... wonder if the areo dynamics is playing into the factor like phil remington or pete brock built the daytona cobra coupe so it would cut threw the wind better and it did
Just awesome!!! At least 2 recoveries on the turns, but amazing driving skill and incredible acceleration of this car on the straights really put this team in front...👍
Brian Burns - no this is one of the continuations (Chassis 016) that Bill Thomas commissioned before he passed away in 2009. The original is stashed away in a private collection in the Carolinas somewhere.
I think the driver are to late with full troutle when he come out from the curve, and he drive in long gear but he must go out of curve with a smaller gear! but i think he can drive much more faster, have the engine a problem??
Now that is auto racing, cubic inches, manual trans, big brakes and driver skill, none of this boring turbo down force single file farce the sport has become.
My first trip to RA was 1958. Remember seeing this and many other beasts back in the day. Good times. This post was in 2023 for future reference.

Later in the race, he was flat out hauling the mail. Dude sure can drive.
It's Awesome to get to see this. Thanks to youtube. Fun to watch. Intense driving.

Had just installed that trans right before the race. The shifter felt a bit different and took a lap to get used to.

I only have one thing to say.........."Don't get cocky kid!!"...lols....What a GREAT romp!!....congrats!!
GREAT RACE, thanks for post it!!
Amazing!! Couple of slightly hairy moments there, but nice run!
That was fun watching!!! Excellent job.
That's one fast kitty! Eiter the tires started to go away or a little less a attention on a few corners but that car is fast. Great ride!
That was a great watch. Thanks for the ride...........
I love those cars. Nice race. RA rocks.

Cool race! Pushed the limits but kept it together for the win!
I remember the first one on car craft or hot rod was orange...so cool at the time and still is

That thing sounds like the starship enterprise goin around the track! Looks like it too! Very impressive
beautifull
race driving . Very good set up for right turns. Super
Man was that a race! Great driving. Visibility looked terrible!
Shifting problems ?
Is he short-shifting a lot?

That thing must weigh nuthin. Looks like you could use a slightly taller gear for that course. Nice save towards the end there!
NZ Salt Flats Racer 5th would be nice, they probably don’t allow it in that class
Just awesome!!! At least 2 recoveries on the turns, but amazing driving skill and incredible acceleration of this car on the straights really put this team in front...👍
mufflers required in this series?
Thanks to COX we could all drive a Cheetah, a Chapparal or a Lotus
don't forget the ford gt and the dino pair
Unfortunately, Cheetahs had way more success on slot tracks than on real tracks.
t
That track looked slippery as heck...
cheers
Nice pass on the inside at 8:00.
All the ford guys say this car is garbage and the cobra rules ,but which car was all American?
Go kart with a pissed off 327.
Awesome
What a beast of a car!
There is nothing sweeter than a Muncie being double-clutched while down-shifting in this "idle only "race" !!
Love the sheer rawity of a cheetah. Fraid I'd be into it like a male black widow spider would be into the female... dead after climax.
Just curious Brian but did you guys change the gear ration in the transmission?
+Kenny Woods No - factory Muncie ratios 3.55 rear end
Love that Cheetah! Car is a beast!!
in a word,,, AWESOME!
Excellent driving.
Is this an original “Cro-Sal” special formerly driven by Ralph Salyer?

Absolute torque monster.
Let those leaf spring sedans hold you up ....
My dream traffic jam

That dude was eating mustang dust all day long
Smdho
Hal's son?
Sweet!
i'm diggin' that Cheetah
Awesome machine!👍
i really like!
Having two classic cars, all I want to do is close my eyes watching this... one little slip and you ruined two cars at least, it happens suddenly.
Lookout guys a SBC is about to pass you
Needs a driver. Parnelli Jones. This looks like there under caution flag. This car is no were up to speed
Ok man tell us the truth now the trick with a missing gears you do it on purpose? buy the way very good car man
