Brian, will you do a video on the IA8K showing all the new features? I would love to see the pack and all of its features. There’s nothing really out on this pack yet that I can find other than the short video IA did and they really only touched on a couple things.

57:02 I think you highlighted the key point right here. I was that guy with an internal stay and external frame pack load out. Definitely can see how the IA system “bridges the gap” in all the positive ways. Great explanation, really enjoy getting to know the people behind the products you use. Please continue sharing.

I met Dennis at MAF antelope butte. I was using a stone glacier and we put their pack to the test. MASSIVE difference. 100# in the stone hurt my back compared to the initial ascent. Very happy with their pack.
Edit: that load shelf pannier is LEGIT! I can load everything I need for a quick hunt or day trip no problem.
Well crap, now I have to buy a new pack. Ran a Badlands 2200 for day hunts for years and have packed out elk and mule deer with it a ton, even one moose in alaska. It hurts when you have anything over 50lbs in that thing. Ole Randy brainwashed me into a Mystery Ranch which works well for 50-100 lbs but anything over that starts to really pull. I'm really intrigued by the ability to stand more vertically with heavy weight in the IA and the lumbar support as I have a long torso. Brian you are a great salesman and I have had 0 buyers remorse when purchasing items you recommend. If it passes the Brian/Ryan test then it's good enough for me!!
If its all about center of gravity, why don't they have a meat pack that can attach to the front?
You can buy a meat pack that attaches to the front--those are available. But as you can imagine--it's kinda hard to maneuver with a pack on your chest. Even so, there are a number of guys who promote them and like them--Joel Turner likes his chest pack. I want a pack that gives me as much mechanical advantage as possible without impeding my movement at the same time--thus, the IA design fits the bill. But the chest pack is something that we should continue to explore.

So I got the 6K last year myself and my sons went out last year and I had 73 pounds to base camp. The last day of hunting I walked 6 miles in 9 hours packing my rifle, food and water of course too much because heck I might get hungry and thirsty, so my sons took 2 water bottles and a protein bar and walked 17 miles, so yes age and body aches we need more 😃 Only thing I would change on the pack is a sliding sternum strap 👍✌🏻🇺🇸

So happy to see this podcast! Love listening to but was really wanting to see this one. I watched your other episode on your thoughts of the IA and what you thought. Glad they took many of your ideas and obviously are listening not only to you but also to their customers.
One thing that I didn't really hear on even though I did see a comment from you, but I would like to know and I could go to there shop but really interested in if they are going to do the u-shape zipper on there 4k. Don't get me wrong, I love the feel of there pack when I tested it at the sportsman Idaho expo but what really sold me on there packs was the 2k because of the u-shape zipper. Have you heard anything on possible release of a pack with u-shape zipper?
They do have some plans in the future for the beaver tail zipper.

I met Dennis & Joe at Hunt Expo and did the "Hollywood Dave" system after being fitted with an Initial Ascent ladies frame. Other packs dig into my hips - the Initial Ascent is AMAZING how with all that weight I stayed upright and never felt like I had to lean forward to hold it. Plus it was comfortable and not digging into hips or shoulders, even with 100# on. Definitely going with Initial Ascent pack!
Hey Brian. I've been researching packs for a while now and You have just settled my struggle on an initial ascent. The only thing that I would change on the 4K or 6K is the access zip. I would change it to a horseshoe access if I had a choice. However, save that, the bags seem great. I appreciate the work that you and your guys do to get info to those of us whom want to enjoy the Rockies. It saves years and money of experimenting on our own. The modularity of these packs is phenomenal from the day pack mode with the pannier and cub bag to the rifle hooks on the frame. Anyway, thanks again for all that you and you crew do and I hope to meet you guys one day at an expo or related event. Thanks, Mike
Love the packs have used them since 2018. Hands down best pack out there thanks Dennis and Joe. Can't wait to buy the 8k bag. My son and girlfriend have the 2k and they love them. Amazing craftsmanship and best customer service. Hey Dennis and Joe are you coming out with the jacket you all had on at the expo? Really want to buy one of them.

I own a EXO pack and definitely interested in the new K4 but you have me interested in IA packs. I did ask Joe about veterans discount about a month ago and I got a response and a code the same day. I was impressed with such a fast response. I will consider a purchase in the future. Thanks Brain

I've been eyeing this pack for a little while. I really like the features on the IA8k. Are they going to be offering the IA6k with the horseshoe zip and the roll top? Will be in touch with them shortly.
Great question... yes, they're working on a similar design in the IA6k. It'll probably take a bit longer before it's offered--but it's forthcoming. Thanks Larry!
@@GrittyGearAndPodcast The IA8K is only a pound +- heavier than the IA6K. I thought about going that way just to have the room if needed. What are your thoughts? Have you run the 8k at all?
@@larryleidig-bs9yv - The new 8K is LEGIT. Lampers and I have been testing the latest version-lots of sweet updates to the design-the new 8K is a banger! I would get it. I wouldn’t wait for the 6K. There are very few hunts where we would use the 6K instead of the 8K. I highly recommend the new 8K.
