Great video! I am getting ready to teach some high school students how to create a basic documentary with some interviews they are doing with some older folks in the community. Your video will be very helpful!
Straight to the point great audio and some great tips thanks guys.
Short, but a lot of good tips in this for us newbies. Many thanks!

He's Donal Coonan, I loved him in thisisaknife.
Best documentary filmer ever. Made me proud to have the same handycam as him :3
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and info.
Cheers, Pete
Nicely done and seriously short and highly educational.
Cut Away = Transition scene. I think. Basically include shots of the environment for example, if you are making a documentary film on cars and the pollution that they cause, include shots of cars stuck in traffic, etc.
this was very helpful and i am going to use in my summer project for my Media course .. thanks !!!
Thank you! Nice video!

It's also called a B-Roll footage. Think it is the more used, but just as confusing term for outsiders.

Thanks for the video, I have learned alot. Thanks. Keep it going! ;)
Whats the brand and model of that little camcorder he's using?
What camera did you use for this and what is a cut away?
Great video - we are planning to start a docu - but have little experience in this area - could you suggest what camera or editing software to use.
Not sure if you still need this suggestion or not, but you can definitely get a good start with a Canon Rebel T3i/Rode on camera shotgun mic for equipment and Adobe Premiere or Final Cut X Pro. I find Final Cut to have an easier learning curve. The gear will probably run you between $450-$600 depending on where you buy both items and the software will cost about $300 for a single license.
Haha you forgot one final tip - check your titles for typos like at 1:11
Awesome channel
How do I take pictures and film clips, put them together, and make my own video out of it and on top of that put an audio of my narration on it?
Mike C Adobe premiere pro

Although I do appreciate the effort, I have to say that what the film describes, does not fit the definition of a documentary. This film is about making a video report in broadcast news style and that is not the same. It means that the reporter tells the audience how to interpret what he or she sees at the screen. Making films in real documentary style means that the pictures do tell viewers the story, in combination with a voice-over of the subject and / or the filmmaker.
I am wanting to do my own powerful as Posible about Pedophiles anyone have an Idea
Hi Robert, I made a documentary about a pedophiles/ child abuse ish. I'm a beginner , its in my channel. It's only 13 minutes long. Maybe you can watch at least a part of it and tell me suggestions? I'm still learning. Thanks :)
