Thank you very much! I started working on this a few weeks back. You either have to be slower with your Playthrough or I have to be faster with my editing. 😅
Just started playing through Jak 1 for the first time recently, and I fell in love with the game's movement after discovering roll jumps and exploiting them to clear massive gaps and travel long distances with ease. Now I stumble across this, and it makes me love the game's movement tech even more. All the ways you can traverse the maps feels so expressive and freeing. It always feels like there's multiple solutions to any problem in Jak.
No matter how many times I listen to the music for Sandover Village, it always brings back memories. It makes me want to go to CVS, get a dust mask, go into my closet, and dust of my PS2, which hasn’t been touched in roughly 5 years. Also, does this have the same effect of roll jump, and then a spin? Scientific purposes.
Your tutorials are such a breath of fresh air. I finally figured out the jetboard hover glitch thanks to your tutorial, and I'm getting a lot more consistent with it. This one's next on my agenda. Thank you for making these!
It's so easy when someone explain it the way you did. This video is a really well done tutorial. Must have been a lot of work. Thank you for your great work!
I just noticed Naughty Dog is one of very few companies that can make 3 or more games from the same series and their all amazing. (Specifically referring to Jak and Daxter and Uncharted.)
Here's a tip if you ever struggle with this move in jak 2 or 3, using a gun is very useful and helped me get the right angle on edges (When you get to the right angle, jak's gun points downwards) so using a laser sight is very useful (like the yellow or blu guns)
That's something I thought about actually, but I believe Xbox achievements are a bit more iconic compared to Playstation's. So I did go with Xbox here.
Tried it in Sentinel Beach, got it literally first try and then I was never able to do it again. rip Edit: Nevermind, I got it. What helps me do it consistently is to very quickly roll my thumb from Square to Cross, and then delay the Circle press by a split second.
It took me about an hour, but I can actually do it now with some level of consistency. When I was growing up I played the game but didn't uppercut basically ever, so this is weirdly new for me lol. But this helped explain it a lot, I don't plan on speed running, by old man hands can't keep up anymore.
Just wanted to say, I love the camera swoops and 'cinematic angles' that I've never seen! 'debug mode' I'm guessing? Super kwl stuff! haha Also messing around with this trick has really opened these games up for me again, it's been great fun and really satisfying when you start getting more consistent. (I highly appreciated your Jak 2 hover tutorial also, still having a bit of trouble with that one though XD) A place I like to use is Sentinel beach can access the orbs on the blue eco pillars (after doing the neat little climb trick up the cannon tower) without the need to go to Forbidden Jungle first. -Noticed a few spots in Snowy Mountain and Spider Cave that are useful too on a recent playthrough. Anyway, love the content broseph, great stuff- keep being you!
Yeah, Debug Mode made all of it possible. It really shows some shots/angles you never get to see during casual play and yet perfectly describes the area that's being talked about. The hover definitely is a trick that takes time. It's easy to learn, but hard to master! Oh yeah, that's certainly a spot where you can make use of Boosted Uppercuts. That's actually what the 100% Speedrun of TPL does! Like I mentioned in the video, I can't cover all the spots where they're useful, as it would make the video endlessly long. Thank you so much for your feedback and sharing your experiences! ❤️
7:34 I have tried that shortcut myself without zooming in with the cam. When you do a boosted directly at the edge and towards the elevator you land at the bottom of the elevator. No dying and no loading screen. I was able to continue playing normally without loading bugs. I got that multiple times. Wouldnt that be faster? If you want me to, i can upload a video of it on my channel.
It found that to be slower by a little bit. Also, there are times where the next area doesn't load in at all, which makes it a bit of a risk going for your suggested method. In the end, go for whatever works best for you!
Dude I've been trying to do this for the past 2 days and I still can't seem to get that crazy forward momentum that launches you to the other side the only thing I get is a crazy vertical boost
Hey dude i know it's been a year and all but i had this same problem and i just foynd out how to solve it Turns out if you have the crazy upwards momentum it means your timing is right. The only thing you need to do to get the forward momentum is to press X REALLY early. Like square and x almost at the same time. Hope this helps
@@youcefkiari9665 This tip let me get this jump for the first time after 2 hours of straight grinding. Thanks so much for it! However, I have no clue as to how people do this consistently. Probably tried the jump on sentinel beach 400+ times and got it once... just once. I get the crazy height every time but that forward momentum is so inconsistent for me :(
@@jonathanbezeau4413 Hmm okay so the way i get it (like one time out of three) is that i let my thumb slide from the square button to the x button as fast as i can (it hurts a little bit) I trained this movement alone until my hand "memorised" it and now if i want the boosted jump i only focus on the timing and i let my muscular memory get the rest about right If you have a soulcalibur game, there are attacks that rely on this kind of "press one button right after the other" kind of thing, with a really strict timing : training them may help you get used to the timing Anyways good luck buddy

Can you jump further using this than with a roll + spin though? edit: I watched the whole thing and it seems that yeah; you can get further than even a perfect roll from the very edge. 10/10 vid man
Can't speak for the name of the effect, but to do it you duplicate the video layer and have them play simultaneously. The top layer is scaled down to 80 or 90% whereas the bottom layer is left at 100% scale with a blur effect added. The same thing is done with vertical phone videos to fill out the screen. Can't speak for the shadowing effect on the bottom and right sides, but the rest is easy.
Maybe but im bad but the jak 2 prison skip might be impossible on the pcsx2 emulator. Looks like yours but jak doesnt grab the ledge. edit: got it after making post lol. 15 seconds after.
