What can you do with two swipers? You got two hands don't ya, Stan?? In all seriousness, that KN4YB is an elegant build. I really appreciate the lines and the user-friendliness. Terrific design. (Yours is great, too. Love the tone. Funny how a different key sounds different, even though everything else is the same.)
By the way, the soft stop is an important historical feature of the sideswiper. The early telegraphers, working in pre-union conditions, often pounded for hours and hours regardless of fatigue, and they got carpal tunnel syndrome from their strate keys. (This was actually the first time that disorder came to the attention of the medical community.) In addition to keying faster and being homebrewable, the sideswiper's soft stop made it usable for much longer without injury.
Don't know who came up with the first one, but it's genius engineering. Thanks for the in-depth review, Stan!
(By the way, KN4YB calls the tension adjustment the "choke". Works for me.)

Very interesting, Stan. Interestingly enough, your sending on your paddle with the hard stop was closer to perfection. I like the cushion of the flexing of the sideswiper blade, and like you I tend to add a little "jazz" to my sending. Blame it on the Bossa nova of Morse keys.

I really like the sound of the click on Tom’s key. I plan to get one soon.

So I got one, and seemed to have some trouble with it on my KX3. The contact closure was less than perfect, which Elecraft rigs demand. Replacing the orignal nickel-plated contact screws with brass screws solved the issue. This is now my primary key, taking prominence over my KN4YB dual-lever bug. Cootie keying is very addicting.

I enjoy you vids but if you could eliminate the 'ahh' between your words they would
be much improved. I find them so distracting I start counting them and then miss
some of the fine points of your presentation.
