For those who wonder what Dragon turned into when Donkey drank The Happily After Potion, she became a pink pegasus (a bewinged horse). It has been comfirmed in the Directors' Commentary on the DVD and Blu-ray.
Hey guys!! Absolutely loved the reaction and really glad you liked the movie. This is one of my favorite comedies for sure. Oh and Simone....love all your opening phrases, so classic. You ought to put them all in a medley. 🤣🤣
Before Mike Myers lent his Scottish accent to Fat Bastard he used it to play Stuart MacKenzie in So I Married an Ax Murderer (1993). An underrated movie that fell in the cracks between the hits of Wayne's World and Austin Powers.
There was some bonus thing that said the potion also affected Dragon, turning her into a Pegasus to match Donkey's transformation, but now that she could talk she was too chatty, and there was the fact that it would be harder to conceal the pregnancy, so they cut it.
Whoever said the later movies are cash grabby. Is insane. I like the 4th movie for a specific reason. The third or 4th will answer a question CineBinge reacts has asked since the first movie. Thus I definitely recommend all the movies in this series. :)
Rawhide was a somewhat popular western show that started in 1959 shot in black and white for TV at the time. It featured a number of actors who went on to become famous. A young Clint Eastwood was featured in a couple episodes. Donkey is singing the show's theme song in a humorous fashion.
Definitely watch the two more Shrek movies too! The story keeps evolving and lately I've seen lot of people say that the fourth one is their favorite. The third one may be a little weaker comparing to these two, but the last one is very good. I think you would love it. And the Puss in Boots can be watched anytime, it doesn't spoil anything, it really is a standalone movie. At least the first one, I haven't seen the new one yet. Great reaction!
Actually, I’m pretty sure he’s been doing that Scottish accent for years. That was his “all things Scottish “sketch on Saturday night live. He also did the movie so I married an ax murderer” in which he played a Scottish character
Actually, Mike Myers didn't make the Fat Bastard voice on purpose, it was mere coincidence. He was just giving Shrek a scottish accent because his parents are scottish and his mom read fairy tales for him as a kid, in a scottish accent, so it's both because of that and that he thought that the scottish accent was suitable for a fairy tale movie.
This was so much fun! Thank you. Shrek 4 is a strong story. Shrek 3 is a bit weak but not awful. Watch them all please. Puss in Boots after Shrek 3 probably but they are disconnect enough that you can start now.
I think I went to see this in cinema, I just remember watching this with my cousins and being absolutely entertained the whole time, I'm not sure even the studio expected how popular Puss in Boots would be lol
Puss in Boots came out after Shrek the Third, but it's a prequel so can be watched any time. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is the most recent, but doesn't reference any particular Shrek film, so can also be watched sooner.
Even though Shrek 3 and 4 aren't as revered as the first two, I'd definitely say give them a watch. They both had a theatrical release and did relatively well, so they aren't as cash grabby as what you might stereotypically think of. There's still heartwarming moments and character growth moments. The humor is still pretty good too. I personally think the 4th is better than the 3rd and if I had to rank all of them I'd say Shrek 2,4, 1, 3. Honestly, the cash grabbiest aspect of the Shrek franchise was the holiday special and the Shrek the Musical. Those two are definitely a waste of time in my opinion. As far as the Puss in Boots movies are concerned they essentially bookend the Shrek franchise. The first Puss movie is his origin story so it could be considered a prequel to Shrek 1. The second Puss movie for sure happens after the Shrek movies and could be considered the finale of the series because it wraps up his character arc which didn't happen in the Shrek movies.
Yay! So happy you guys are continuing with this series! I personally really enjoy Shrek 3, it gets a bad wrap and I'm honestly not sure why. Definitely worth a watch I say! I love being in the Shrek world again (Far Far Away specially), and spending time with some princess 😉 That's all I'll say!
I'm so happy to see some people laugh as hard as me at Donkey's **pop** mouth scene. lol So many people just say it's genuinely annoying, but I've always thought it was brilliant.
another incredible detail is at the time of arrest by the police, they find "weed" on puss which is actually catnip. 😂 it's sad you didn't mention it in the video because it's genius
The first Puss in Boots movie is a prequel set before the first Shrek, and the second one is a sequel set after Shrek 4. There’s actually a Nutty Professor reference in this film. (Not sure if you guys have seen Nutty Professor. It’s another movie with Eddie Murphy.) The Happily Ever After Potion has a strikingly similar look to the elixir the Professor makes in Nutty Professor.
I think the root of the voice goes further back than fat bastard, "So I Married an Axe Murder" he plays his own father with that Scottish/Irish accent.
Okay, that was weird. I just finished watching a video showing a group playing Dungeon Mayhem, and I click on this next to hear you welcoming us to Baldur's Gate 3.
Less than a minute in, and George is already starting ... and he doesn't even realize it! Simone: Is that a Fairy Godmother? Me: Yes. George: Is she tiny or is she far away? Me: (laughing) Um, Far, Far Away, actually.
So since Shrek took the potion it changed Fiona as well. Now the question is that since Donkey took the potion and turned into a horse….. what did Dragon turn into?
I just realized that since shrek drank the potion it changed both him and Fiona into human’s because they are each others true love and with donkey he turned into a stallion so if the dragon is his true love, then what did she turn into during the potion change?
The 4th movie, Shrek Forever After, is good just less comedic than both movies (1&2). It does a slightly more serious story this time around. But not that serious. Though overall I think it is worth watching. Shrek the Third I personally don't enjoy but I hear some people enjoy some of the comedy of that film. So maybe you might enjoy it. I guess I could compare the humor to Austin Powers 2, or at least as close of a comparison as I could. I will say I found one or 2 bits from the 3rd pretty funny but still I don't really like that film. I guess I don't hate it but I can't really recommend it. Another great film! Not sure which one I prefer between 1 and 2 but the references are top notch 👌, especially the street fighter reference after spider-man. Finally has a mean dragon uppercut/ shoryuken. Great reaction guys 👍
Great movie shrek 2, way funnier than the first film! Also, you guys should watch the tv series Absolutely Fabulous which stars the fairy godmother (Jennifer Saunders), paired with Joanna Lumley. Trust me, it's a laugh out riot with lots of raunchy humor! Holding out for a hero scene was the best part, that song really is the film's signature. Fun fact, when shrek 2 was being dubbed into foreign languages, majority of them also translated "Holding out for a hero" part. It's just glorious!
The first time I saw this was the night after I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and I laughed (and cried from pain) so much some of my stitches tore. Personally, I think Shrek 2 is the best in the series. Just about everything Donkey says and does is hilarious. I always laugh at Donkey "POP" and tonight on KNIGHTS with the pepper spray. Shrek 3 and 4 are still very enjoyable and have some really funny moments, but aren't AS funny, but still worthwhile.
the shrek movies are mostly good, aside from shrek the third. that one while not the worst movie ever made, it's not very good. but the 4th movie, a very underrated movie and very fun. the 2 puss in boots movies are also fun. first one is a little weak with story but still great
There are many hints about Fiona's father being the Frog Prince (frog kissed by a princess and becoming human) besides the one you caught about the other talking frog at the bar recognizing him: - His bedsheets and furniture are green - There are paintings of lilypads on his walls. - The Queen mentions their first date by the lily pond. - The Queen's name is Lillian and he calls her "Lilly". - The Fairy Godmother threatens to send him back to the pond.
@@cemaciek Yes, ogre. Not sure why I typed "troll" but "ogre" is what I meant. But still, an ogre is not a "giant humanoid frog". Those are two different things. And Fiona is not an Ogre - she is a human turned into an ogre.
"They'll write your name on the bathroom wall: 'For a happy ever after, give Fiona a call'" is still one of the wildest lyrics to ever be in a song in a kid's movie.
The Shrek movies were luckily still some of the last kid movies that properly understood the whole Don Bluth philosophy, I don't remember the exact quote but it's something to the effect of, "You can show kids very surprisingly violent or adult things in animation, just so long as the good guys *ALWAYS* win at the end." And it's very true. As long as a young child gets the happy ending and proper resolution, they don't mind and may even prefer a more interesting movie like that. Think of all the older cartoon movies we watched that had ridiculously adult things in them, like 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' lol. Roger Rabbit has scenes and situations which are far filthier than anything in this movie, and I wish more movies still understood this and knew it was ok to push boundaries with kids stuff. Kids and adults both enjoy it!
@@KrazzeeKane In fairness, the melting the shoe scene and the death of the villain in Who Framed Roger Rabbit messed me up as a child, no matter how happy the ending XD
Puss in Boots is possibly the best supporting character in the franchise. He’s the missing part of the quartet that adds so much humor and swashbuckling to the series that he eventually got his own spin-off series. I love this film even more than the original.
@@dylanburton4955 Yes. 100% It wouldn’t be the same character at all without him. He carries the supporting role as if he’s the lead, which is what you want from Puss.
I had seen this aswell! Apparently writer and director Andrew Adamson said during a test screening when asked that Dragon turned into a Pegasus. Originally, Dragon was going to have a much larger role, but they thought it was unnecessary for the film. She would have had much to say and it would have been difficult to hide her pregnancy and they wanted that to be a surprise in the film.
The "I Need A Hero" sequence is unironically one of the best scenes in animation history. Also, Shrek 2 is pure gold that expands the universe perfectly while still maintaining the lovable characters, the humor and a beautiful soundtrack.
It's a well-made sequence. I use it as an example for screenwriting all the time, especially the Puss In Boots "sacrificial" moment. The audience doesn't know he'll come back later, so it's an effective scene if his story ends there.
So in case you guys didn't know, the very very short "I hate Monday's" line from Puss is a very sly nod to another famous orange cat, Garfield :) I loved that they threw that in there. lol So many little things to look out for. This was a great sequel.
The climax action scene will damn near forever be one of my favorite endings for an animated movie. I'll still go back and get hype with that song, probably the main reason I'd say 2 is better the the first. Not to mention everything about the "Knights" scene.
That "Knights" scene was really on point lol. I love that the joke kept up with the ethnicity of the VAs, how Donkey by Eddy Murphy yelled police brutality and was kneed by the police, Antonio Banderas as Puss got catnip planted on him, and Mike Myers as Shrek got peppered lol.
I love this movie. My family and I even had a lot of laughs at the animated DVD menu, where Donkey suggests subtitles for the title, like ”Donkey Reloaded”, ”The Donkey’s Revenge”, and my favorite, ”The Real Jackass Movie”
Oh me and my friends sang along to the karaoke bonus feature where just about every character gets to do a song. I loved Charming's "Too Sexy for my Shirt"
Yay. Best Shrek movie. The third and fourth movies aren't as great as this but they're still worth a watch if you haven't seen them. They have some good moments in them.
You’re right on the money George, since the entire plot line with the parents is essentially Look Who’s Coming to Dinner. A 1960s drama about a woman bringing home her fiancé who happens to be black and how the parents struggle with their prejudice. And just as All Star is forever associated with Shrek, I need a Hero is forever linked with Shrek 2.
The Third is definitely the low point, but if you're willing to go all the way to the 4th and final one (so far), it's still a fun watch. In my opinion, Puss in Boots The Last Wish takes precedence over the two, then Kung Fu Panda 3 to finish that series, and then the rest of the HTTYD movies.
"We got a white bronco heading east into the forest." That line always kills me!!!😂😂

Shrek 3 is CineCringe at best, but Please watch Shrek 4! Stronger than the first movie and a great sendoff for the characters
Dongens. It's canon now.
Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake had been a couple for a long time when this movie came out
the shrek movies are mostly good, aside from shrek the third. that one while not the worst movie ever made, it's not very good. but the 4th movie, a very underrated movie and very fun. the 2 puss in boots movies are also fun. first one is a little weak with story but still great
The boot on your thumbnail looks so phallic!!! Lmao
Drankey is the correct answer, haha
The third Shrek movie is where things get bad, but I actually think the fourth one is pretty good and mostly gets an unfair bad rap.
There are many hints about Fiona's father being the Frog Prince (frog kissed by a princess and becoming human) besides the one you caught about the other talking frog at the bar recognizing him:
- His bedsheets and furniture are green
- There are paintings of lilypads on his walls.
- The Queen mentions their first date by the lily pond.
- The Queen's name is Lillian and he calls her "Lilly".
- The Fairy Godmother threatens to send him back to the pond.
Also, of course, his daughter is a giant humanoid frog
@@DougieDDemonAre you talking about Fiona? A troll is not a frog. And she is a human turned into a troll.
@@jhornacekogre
Ogre@@jhornacek
@@cemaciek Yes, ogre. Not sure why I typed "troll" but "ogre" is what I meant.
But still, an ogre is not a "giant humanoid frog". Those are two different things. And Fiona is not an Ogre - she is a human turned into an ogre.
"They'll write your name on the bathroom wall: 'For a happy ever after, give Fiona a call'" is still one of the wildest lyrics to ever be in a song in a kid's movie.
The Shrek movies were luckily still some of the last kid movies that properly understood the whole Don Bluth philosophy, I don't remember the exact quote but it's something to the effect of,
"You can show kids very surprisingly violent or adult things in animation, just so long as the good guys *ALWAYS* win at the end."
And it's very true.
Don Bluth and his famously depressing movies, I didnt think twice when I was a kid watching his films, but now? Damn lol. @@KrazzeeKane
People would take children to see them, but MOST of the humor was way over their heads. That includes stuff like using a Zeppelin song for one scene.
I actually don't get the joke, can you explain?
Puss in Boots is possibly the best supporting character in the franchise. He’s the missing part of the quartet that adds so much humor and swashbuckling to the series that he eventually got his own spin-off series. I love this film even more than the original.
Antonio is so perfectly cast as him too
@@dylanburton4955 Yes. 100% It wouldn’t be the same character at all without him. He carries the supporting role as if he’s the lead, which is what you want from Puss.
It's funny to rewatch the first Shrek and be kind of disappointed that Puss is not in that film.
@@jhornacek I think a Director’s Cut where they give him a scene or two in like a cameo is due. Lol
@@mojoshiversNah, I love the first Shrek as-is. And Puss' introduction in Shrek 2 is perfect.
Fun Fact, Apparently Dragon was also effected by the potion got turned into a Pegasus
The heck? Where does that come from?
@@joecrazy9896Dvd commentary by the creators.
@@joecrazy9896A pegasus is a winged horse. i.e. a mythical, "beautiful" counterpart to a stallion.
@@MrWhatdafuBOOM Ah, OK. Never did sit down to listen to the movie commentary.
The "I Need A Hero" sequence is unironically one of the best scenes in animation history.
Also, Shrek 2 is pure gold that expands the universe perfectly while still maintaining the lovable characters, the humor and a beautiful soundtrack.
It's also arguably the best cover version of the song and considering that Jennifer Saunders is not a professional singer it's impressive
It really is one of the all time best scenes ever.
Also the hint of España Cañi when Puss attacks the guards is _chef's kiss_
It's a well-made sequence. I use it as an example for screenwriting all the time, especially the Puss In Boots "sacrificial" moment. The audience doesn't know he'll come back later, so it's an effective scene if his story ends there.
BE GOOD :)
(sniff sniff) "Catnip."
"That's . . .uh . . . not mine."
@@BrahmaDBA"planted"?
I love this movie. My family and I even had a lot of laughs at the animated DVD menu, where Donkey suggests subtitles for the title, like ”Donkey Reloaded”, ”The Donkey’s Revenge”, and my favorite, ”The Real Jackass Movie”
My favorite 2 fast 2 donkey
"Shrek 2: Where's my donkey? Oh, yeah. Cut from the movie because he TALKS TO MUCH!"

Oh me and my friends sang along to the karaoke bonus feature where just about every character gets to do a song. I loved Charming's "Too Sexy for my Shirt"
"How about 'Shrek 2: Day of the Donkey'?"

The “Knights” parody of Cops is priceless! 😂
Donkey getting police brutality; Shrek getting pepper-ground; and Puss caught with catnip 😂

“Catnip.”

Also the part when they find catnip on puss that part always gets me.😄
@@majesticeagle191 RIGHT🤣🤣
They have to edit down to avoid copyright trouble.
It's even funnier when you learn that Eddie was arrested in the 80's for soliciting a transvestite hooker.
Shrek 2 is so great, I really love the way they deconstructed the Fairy Godmother trope and obviously Puss in Boots is the best.
Yay. Best Shrek movie.
The third and fourth movies aren't as great as this but they're still worth a watch if you haven't seen them. They have some good moments in them.
The fourth movie is unfairly lumped in with the third.
The fourth one is so much better than the third. I skipped the third one and called the fourth one the trilogy.
Minor correction: the movie is called 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner'.
Agreed, I'd personally skip the third one
@@aledjangoskip?? it’s still entertaining!
