This is one of my favorites. The Latakia supports the Virginia so magically.
There’s a scene in A New Hope where Luke looks around in the Cantina and sees a guy with some electric pipe thing. I always imagine that the stuff he’s smoking tastes like this.

Delicious tobacco. Gawith (Samuel or &Hoggarth) never fails.
You still don’t know how to pack a pipe! It has nothing to do with humidity.
This is one of my favourites. It's an excellent blend.
"Teriyaki chicken tobacco"? "Sweet and sour chicken tobacco?" That's as gorge-raising as Hearth & Home's Signature Egg Nog. Interestingly, however, both tobaccos, the Navy Flake and the Egg Nog, are excellent for what they are, one being a serious Virginia flake and the other being a Christmas-style aromatic.
Great to see a Gawith review! I always stayed away from Navy Flakes because I had heard that they usually were cased in rum, not a favorite of mine. Interested to see your final thoughts!
Honestly, the rum casing is my thing when it comes to Navy flakes. I don't believe this on is "rummed" how ever.

I was always given to understand that “Navy” denoted that it had some kind of rum essence

I have opened a number of new Gawith tins of late and none are as wet as in the past. Perhaps the insert absorbs some of the moisture?
Hey everyone does anyone know what blends or tobacco has that A-1 sauce or bbq flavor he's talking about.
I have smoked this before and thought it was great. I opened another tin when I heard you were going to cover it, and well, I put it back in the tin. It didn't work for me, I found it this go round with a bit too much tongue bite. It certainly appears that you are enjoying it. I will revisit my tin once it's a bit more dry (I rub my flake blends completely out). Looking forward to your take on this.
Definitely agree with the beef jerky tin note. That’s immediately what came to mind when I opened it. Definitely has a sweet & tangy taste to it as well.
This seems interesting. I just started piping this year and thought I would be more hooked on aromatics. I am not. I have began leaning towards orik, SPC and evinmore I believe is the name. So far spc potlatch and rum barrel aged are favorites. I will definitely have to search this one out
Correction - not evinmore, erinmore flake is the name and type.

This one has a rum topping as well, which gets called a flavoring but is pretty subtle

Navy, Bothy and Balkan are 3 really nice flakes on the Latakia spectrum, Balkan is one of my all time favourites.
