Great vid. I love this thing, I have both the older wired and newer wireless one and I find myself using the wired one more just because I have it plugged in usually for convenience and I don't really use the gyro on it. I still maintain that this design is what the original Steam Controller should have been, something designed to make PC-style games like city builders, grand strategy, RTS, point and click adventure games, tactical games, etc playable in a controller form factor. Instead what we got was more of a half measure between something new with trackpads but also tied to the traditional dual analog layout for familiarity and didn't satisfy either side. I pretty much use mine exclusively for games like that, and that's where I think it shines the most. The reWASD support for it is great but unfortunately the ability to map the scroll wheel has been broken for some months now, that combined with just not wanting to use reWASD in general anymore leads me to just remapping buttons in-game usually. And thankfully because this natively reports as a m/kb to the system it's fairly easy to do that.
After some test runs with a few games, yeah I have to agree it is more suitable for macro/strategy/management games, I am still not used to trackpad gaming though, haha. Indeed, it is a good thing that it natively supports KBM binding because that is less of a hassle to set up for folks who don't want to use 3rd party mapping software.
Hell yeah, I have this thing its got a couple issues for me mostly layout and no tactile feed back on the touchpad (which the steam controller does) also i hate how the plastic feels
Th prboblem you will face with the rewasd mode is that you will loose the yaw plus roll mode. how does the touchpad feel when mapped through rewasd? the touchpad resolutions seems a bit low. The thing i did not like about this controller is that it had no software. so who is this controller for? pc players that like the steamcontroller? for that it has not got enough options. or is it for the xbox croud that wnats mouse like gyro on xbox games that support keyboard and mouse. its like the developers of this controller did not know enough about theire target market to develop a controller with good remapping capabilities. for keyboard and mouse emulation and mouse like gyro on xbox i rather use the alpakka controller. is has no trackpad but solely relies on gyro ratcheting through the touch capacative hexagon between the face buttons. theire is one other thing that bugs me about hyro. almost all gyro content on youtube has very limited vieuws. only big channels like the linus thech tips who made a video about flick stick on counterstrike seems to have alot of vieuws. your gameplay channel and that of directed input only have a few hundred vieuws sadly. the strange thing is theire seems to be more and more new gyro controllers like the alpakka and the shotpad, but when i look for vieuws on gyro aiming on youtube or google theire are not alot of hits.
I am no trackpad expert so frankly, I can't say much about it, but I think both native and reWASD implementation for trackpad feels identical. Regarding the audience, I think this gamepad was designed for folks who play on both mobile and PC gaming, as the controller resembles a smartphone with a half gamepad attached to it. It has lots of buttons which is very suitable for PC games. Not having in-house companion software means it is super simple to set up and lots of players don't want to tinker with mapping apps. This controller still feels like it's in the middle of designing and development, lots of room to improve but also plenty of potential.
@@boombaka seems strange that theire are not more controllers with two trackpad like the steamcontroller or steamdeck. i would really love to see a good gamepad with2 sticks aswell as 2 trackpads like on the steamdeck. either working with steam or seperate software that is designed for such a controller.

Congratulations on your purchase.
Hey, thanks to you, I pulled the trigger and bought the controller. Pretty good purchase I say.

Yeah, the C/F/R/V buttons are so weirdly arranged even though I am aware they copy the typical button layout of mobile gaming
