    Julie, I just discovered your wonderful and informative videos! It's Nov. 2018, now...and it looks like you haven't posted anything for about 9 months, Your grooming videos are straight-forward and your commentary is clear, easy to understand and so very helpful. PLEASE don't stop making these grooming videos as they are the best ones online! Thank you!

    Best video on trimming a poodle's face!!! (didn't have to do his feet this time round)
    Have watched quite a few videos on trimming a poodle's face and just couldn't get it right. In this video Julie simplifies the process and it works! So quick and easy and unlike the dog in the video my dog doesn't sit still. The only thing I did different was use a No 10 blade (1.8mm). Anyway, thanks so much!

    Thank you for all the videos. They have helped me improve my grooming skills. I would love to see you groom young poodles as they learn to accept grooming. I want to improve my skills with wiggly puppies so that they learn to enjoy grooming and not pull away from having the area around their nose and chin clipped. All other areas have been easier to condition using a lick mat as a distraction 😊

      @@juliewilkinsgrooming First, thank you very much for sharing your awesome skills! I have a 1 year old standard poodle and I am having a hard time finding a groomer that can see her monthly. I am trying to do some myself between her grooming appointments so she doesn't become a matted mess. Having said all that, I have what is likely a really dumb question for you - can the clippers cut her skin? I want to cut her feet and face down like you showed but I'm scared that I'm going to cut her skin. What are your thoughts about that? Thank you in advance, and for all the help you've already given me. 😊

I am worried about nicking her, especially around her lips, below her eyes, her feet and tush. • @juliewilkinsgrooming
      @juliewilkinsgrooming  Рік тому

      The longest setting, which I believe is all the way to the left would probably be the equivalent of a number 9 or 10 blade, the shortest setting, which would be all the way to the right would be the equivalent of a 40 blade :-) middle setting would probably be around a 15

    • @juliewilkinsgrooming

      yes, it would be the equivalent of a #30 on the 5 position clipper, but if using a regular body clipper I would go with a #15 as a regular #30 can grab the skin

    Good demo, very detailed clipping and explanation, thank you.
    I find Wahl an unreliable company and use the Andis Vida clipper instead for detailing.
    I also have an Andis AGC2 for main body work but it would work fine on large poodles, not the smaller ones though.
    I'm going to switch to Heiniger Saphir or Opal when I can afford it. Good clippers and they don't heat up much.
    A bit too much talking in this video. Less is better. We can see what is being done.

    Since I've gotten my cockapoo, I haven't been able to trim her claws as short due to the quick. How do you get your nails short?

    • @jazzhands0121
      @jazzhands0121 5 років тому +2

      Because the quick is longer in your dogs nails, you'll have to trim a tiny part of it once every week or so so that you can get the quick to recede. Once the nails are short enough, then you only have to clip them every month or two depending on how quick your dogs nails grow. Some grow faster than others.

I have it on my Klein poodle. But I do keep a Tzar Nicholas shaped beard and 'stach on him. I like for people to know his is a boy at first look. The German Trim and facial hair does the trick!

    It scares me that people will try to do this at home. The way you shave in between the skin folds and along the lip is NOT for the beginner to just buy a pair of Wahl clippers and attempt without having taken a dog grooming course first. You should really caution your viewers and make a disclaimer before the video begins.

      When I first started, I thought the guard would guard against such accidents but I really wounded my poor Sacha with trying to get in the difficult stretchy area between belly and where leg joins as the skin went between the teeth of the guard and cut her right open. After several stitches, and a month off swimming in the summer, she got her stitches out and then the wound split open the next day, more stitches and another month off swimming. I ruined her summer and my family is almost willing to forgive me a couple of years later. Live and learn but a caution would probably be a good idea. Or, I should have watched these videos before I even tried.
