    It’s amazing how fast their hair grows. I chose to learn to groom my standard poodle rather than pay professionals to do it. Getting good at it is not something that happens overnight. It’s actually a good thing I have plenty of spare time. At first it was not a pleasant task but I’ve learned to enjoy it and it’s become a hobby for me. I must be doing OK because I get lots of compliments on how great he looks. Your videos have helped me a lot. Thank you👍🏻

      Do you pluck your poodles ears

    • @jesshothersall
      @jesshothersall 8 місяців тому

      @@diabolushendrix2178 You have to pluck the ears, or they're liable to an ear infection, as no air could get in after a while. Unpleasant job I know, but worthwhile. Get a set of haemostatic clamps, it's what my vet used, so he ordered me some too. Kind of like scissors to look at, but round ended and grip instead of cut

    Always clipped my mini boy's ears short like the end cut, but more triangular because people always mistook him for a female as it was. Plus I just liked that puppy-ish look. Recently had to put him down at 16. Best dog ever. Best breed ever. When the time is right, hope to get a standard. Awesome video! Beautiful, well behaved boy you have.

It probably seems basic to you, but for those of us learning, you are a wealth of information. Plus you have a nice calm voice :) I keep my boy's ears in a German cut. It took me awhile to get used to shaved ears, but I like it for a male. And it's so easy! But my girl has fluffy ears and I struggle to make them look tidy and even. Thank you for all the options!

    You are such a great teacher. This has helped me so much as I am learning how to groom my tiny toy poodle myself. I have so much respect and gratitude to you groomers as it’s really hard. I think my groomer had to put my furr baby up in a ? Harness in order to do her paws as she is so so ticklish, makes it extremely hard to do. Any suggestions. Hi I’m Karla, I have a tiny red poodle and have just discovered that Conditioner and or leave in conditioner makes grooming so so much easier. Thank you. You’ve got a Beautiful Boy there.

    I adopted an 18 month poodle from a neighbor, he was so sad; locked in a crate all day because her ex moved in and didn't like him. I took the poodle in. He became a whole new dog. So loved and cared for. Poodles are so smart! I have no idea about their grooming and the style to put them in. Bruno is a male, Chocolate, miniature, poodle. I do know alot àbout poodles. My grandma had an AKC registered kennal when I was growing up. I helped her with all things poodle.😅. She thought I should become a veterinarian... I instead took up the human side of medicine. LOL I couldn't stand the idea of altering an animal's look because AKC said so! i.e. ears and tails. I appreciate your video on the ears. I will show the groomer the ear cut I like and a puppy cut. Bruno will be trained to be my service dog. He has learned a lot in two weeks and more to come. We will be a great team together. I hope Bruno learns to sit still for grooming... I'm paralyzed on the left side, I enjoyed combing his ears... I'm afraid of cutting them.

    How do you groom a poodle who hates grooming? My poodle won't let me comb or brush her. It's a struggle. The last groomer I took her to said she "messed" her walls twice. Any suggestions?

    • @LoveofGrooming
      @LoveofGrooming  7 років тому

      Sorry to hear that your poodle is difficult. Find a groomer that grooms one dog at a time and actually loves poodles. Some groomers don't like them and your poodle will know .
      Is the Grooming salon busy with lots of groomers and dogs coming and going? That could make a difference on how your poodle acts.
      How old is your poodle and what age was the first professional grooming?
      Is your poodle matted and how long did you wait between Grooming?

      Cathy Murrell How often do you comb and brush him? Do you get him professionally groomed? If yes, how often? How often is he bathed? Do you let him air dry or do you blowdry?

    • @cathymurrell507
      @cathymurrell507 7 років тому

      Hi, I brush and comb him each day. I do get him professionally done but not as often as six weeks, mainly because I have had problems finding someone who does a proper job. In summer I wash him maybe every 10 days and winter I leave it a bit longer, every couple of weeks, I blow dry him with my professional (for my hair) dryer.

      Cathy Murrell Sounds like you are doing everything right. Are you using a metal comb after brushing and the comb can glide through? Are you making sure there are no mats before you bath him?

    I really love your videos! everything looks really easy! one question: If I had to buy the snap on combs indivuadualy (not the set of 7), Which ones would you recommend?

      +Milady Nazar I love the #2 and # O. The #2 is shorter than the #0. If want s shorter cut get a#2 or longer cut #O.
      I like them both.
      #2 is nice for body work. So overall a #2 is the best in my own opinion.
      Thanks for watching.
