10 years ago moon mining was 100% automatic... and this was during golden era of eve when 50-60.000 logged in was not unusual.
This new "equinox" drill will probably be used only on lower value moons (that players don't mine anyway) and provide better content than a POS ever did. Potentially better loot than from an ESS and no cancer mechanics.
not so long ago (before rorq nerf and industry changes) t1 battleship was

I remember that I used to build my own caps and bs from belt ratting and feet a lot of them....since the indie revamp I saw a lot of reduction in pvp cuz of the cost of ships and pi bs

The auto moon miners are a positive for smaller groups that do not have the level of man power larger blocs tend to have, or would rather have members doing other content like pvp/pve.
Don't know much on how Frat or PH will do but IMP have stated they will not be using these except at the highest levels and even then they said its iffy.
I assume Frat/PH given the amount of territory they posses will use these maybe on the more dangerous edges of sov they hold and keep the regular moon drills closer in heavy controlled parts. Hoping this brings down more of the r16/32 stuff as the amounts and price have been a bit of a bottle neck for a few years.

    Good evening,
Do, I can understand your opinion on the concept of automated moon mining and how at first glance could be bad. However, as I was around 10 years ago during OTEC, and we can take a good look at the pros and cons that existed in the before the Upell days.
Depending on where you were in the game, who you were with, and the level of awareness you had back then, the reality was lots and lots of fights were over moons. If you look at research, people would post about how boring it was to shoot at sticks. But they were talking about when sov had to do with pos, not in reality was when a stick brought in 3b a month there were fights over them. They would never be left to die unless the defenders actually fail cascaded. I was around for the fall of Morus Mehi (sp), fortress tribute, white noise, the rise of pandemic legion, and a lot, if not all, was about moon goo resources. Mainly, the control of them. Tech was not an r64 thing but was the most expensive because groups of people would hold them. Not necessarily even the sovereignty, but the moons. The moon would provide an easy way to fund srp. (And some alliance leaders in the end)
The days of no taxes, no pve, just log in and kill stuff. If you die, you get sent isk to repay for it. In those days, it was not needed to have to have industries alts to mine. Just to build your titans.
Because it was valuable it was fought over.
Now, most space is the same. There are less industrial material bottlenecks. Space is homogeneous. Why fight for something you already have? Fight for moons when you already have moons you need to log in every Thirsty Thursday to mine? Taking more moons just becomes more chores to do later.
Should we make more if we mine it ourselves? Sure. But we should be able to make some without the 2nd eve job leve chores. Does that mean people may shoot it, because it's easier to get? Sure. Would we shoot them because we could make easier money? Hopefully.
Hate to say it, but you don't see many huge fights over rorquals mining. Damn, they are cleaning the toilet, I don't want them to fuck with me when I'm cleaning our toilet.
The current game Designs force players to be industrialist.
Null blocks want their players to rat, so they get easy tax. Renting is the same concept, easy money.
Blocks want players to mine the ore so they get some tax.
Oddly enough, some passive income streams, which can be fought over, are great for conflict drivers. Unlike renting, taxes, and others that can not functional be disrupted and taken away.
Obviously we don't want it to be huge, we just want there to be a choice for more risk and less of an eve chore. We can't all be tom sawyer, someone's gotta paint the fence. But a video game should be fun. Alliance srp mining ops, not so much.

The drill will have fuel requirements both from fuel blocks and reagents. So the demand for ice will increase if these become common. The cost and availability of the reagents will also be a determining factor of if they are viable. I think due to the limitation on yield they’re going to be far more common on lower end moons that wouldn’t get mined anyways.
While I agree in theory of it potentially being a slippery slope to more automation. I also believe that this might be an overall good feature if the balancing is done well.

Na i think the big guys will still mine the R64 & some r32 moons, Our 2 week pulls on our R64 moon are 8b - not gonna accept 40% of that, as for r4/r8 moons, we will have as many Metenox's as possible on them!!!

The ship skinner is something people have been begging CCP to implement for years, including being able to sell your own skins. Glad to see them implementing changes the people actually want!

Your right about automated moon mining. My corp has dozens of moons that it doesn’t bother with atm, but they will all get automatic mining. Same for all corps in null. There are thousands of r8/16 moons that are ignored atm, just in my alliance

There are so so many bad takes in this video, you're entitled to your opinion of course but jesus christ you do not know what you are talking about on half these points.
The main one that is completely ridiculous is the cost of building materials coming down, this is only a good thing - yes you as a miner (and me as a miner) will yield less profit per load, but cheaper mats mean more ships built, more ships built means cheaper ships, cheaper ships means more ships in space, more ships more fights, more kills, more demand, more production.
This results in a positive feedback loop, if it doesn't you're just bad.
"I'll speak to my friends in nullsec" so you haven't even done your research, you've speculated and got your period.

Same like in Eve Echoes, as soon micro transactions start they will be more and more as they are a lot of money.
Mobile games are littered with it, sad to see it coming to EO too…
In general no issues with payed purely cosmetic stuff. But as soon it impacts the game play itself it’s a big issue…

If you choose to go solo, a porpoise and mining barge are best for 2 accounts. If you have compression procurer or covetor. Without compression, procurer or retriever. A porpoise is a must as it adds 50% per cycle

Do level 4 mining missions, it's better isk then veldspar. Otherwise get in a good corp like others said.

I heavily disagree with the moon part. Yes automated moon mining will drop some prices, however we have had moon mining for well over 10 years and those things are super easy to kill so that's not gonna be a big problem imo

Automating mining on the belts will kill the game, mining generates too much content for the game.
