- I tested another variant of this car ( • Cheapest RWD RC Drift ... ) and it REALLY SURPRISED ME!
But - I had a number of folks who asked me about the other body styles. Did they work the same, were there other variations that had issues? So - I picked up another variant to try!
You can find both of these vehicles on many websites. I got mine from Temu, here is the link for the NSX: temu.to/m/u7e1f8kmbnd
and here is the link for the RX7: share.temu.com/GNlOo9sUhnA
Want to upgrade it? First step is to upgrade the gyro. Here is how: • $60 RWD Drift Car Gets...

Hello. A complete conversion of the electronics would be interesting. I also ordered an AE86 to start learning RC Drifting. Thanks for the informative reviews. 🤙🏻
Great! Glad you are getting started!
Thanks for the vote on the electronics swap.
I did a full upgrade and it's as smooth as my Sakura d5s
Absolutely amazing piece of equipment
@@salutbonjour123 what all did you replace? I received my AE86 today and will test drive it for the first time tomorrow 🤙🏻
@@ElPunto620 I did the surpass hobby 9g servo

@@salutbonjour123 Ok thanks for the answer 🤙🏻
You don’t have to take the front two screws out , just take the two back screws out and the front slides out 👍🏻
Great video troy, nice to see you went and got another to compare with, never know a electronics swap may take it to another level, worth giving some thought too!!
Yes sir! I think these could be really good with proper electronics.
Hello I am so glad I started watching your channel you got me into rc drifting and I’m going to my first track this Sunday I’m so nervous 😬 😅 but I would love to see a full upgrade in one and see a driving comparison ❤
Nice! Good luck on your first track outing!
Thank you for sharing a breakdown of how to troubleshoot and tune this car, I'll be using it as a guide to get mine setup proper. IMO this thing is awesome for someone's first r/c drift car who isn't sure they want to go deeper into the hobby. Consider it the "Harbor Freight approach", buying something inexpensive and if you use it so much it breaks/dies you can probably warrant buying the next step up such as a 1/10 RTR (which is my plan).
Nice! I like the Harbour Freight analogy!
The stock shock add helps, and gives it some actual suspension . Mono front shock looks good too.
❤You are Awesome! Thanks for the LD1803 review!
Thank you!
Great review...i never had a drift car and this seems the brand to go with... give me a good reason to clean my over cloddered messy garage and try some drifting..thanks for sharing😊
Glad to be a bad influence! Hope you enjoy it!
Actually i have my eye on the newest diecast metal blue and silver one..its absolutely incredible...after watching several reviews it could use a better gyro...but needs nothing else..thanks for sharing😊
Hi Troy! The two cars I have which are the same as yours (only I have the red NSX) Had all the same little issues yours did which I also remedied as well. The wheel alignment is very key whether front or rear to get that rubbing reduced if not removed. On both cars the the rear tires were out of alignment. The NSX was the worse of the two. it was nice to see though that there was quite a bit of adjustability to get them all squared up. I really like that! i removed all the suspension limiters under the control arms as they seemed to hinder the handling more than help it, these cars are pretty low anyways. Really enjoyed your video on these! They are are a great way to get into real 2wd rc Drifting!😊💯💢
Yes sir! You are right!
Did you ever do any other modifications to them?
@@RoadsideRC no, but I would love to see these cars have actual shocks on them, that would be a great and I think beneficial mod! Have a great Sunday👊🏼😎🏁
Hey man nice work. That swap would be awsome to see!!!!! Happy drifting!!!!!!
Thanks 👍
Thank you for this. These are awesome
Love the head lights on this thing
Agree 100%!
Dude I’m gonna order the rx7 tomorrow lol thanks for the video bro
I hope you enjoy it!
Would love to see how much upgrades can be done to this little drift car... i can tell you that Cape Crawlers budget build trx4m was what got me into the world of RC and how he went from stock to a nice modded build. that was in february i now own a trx4m modded bronco and im on the verge of finishing a a buggy 1/18th build that i started from scratch with all aftermarket parts. love the content and hope to see something similar done with this little Drift car 🙂
Thanks for the push! Glad to hear you are enjoying the world of RC!
I’m not gonna lie. I’ve been quietly binging your channel recently even though subscribed over 2 years ago.
The info you provide and tips etc is top notch . So I’m here to learn and thanks for it 👍🏼
Great info great vids from someone with obvious great knowledge and willing to share
Thank you for the kind words!
Yeah! I want too see how it drives after electronics swap
I vote YES for a swap of the electronics.
After the first step is over (buying a first RWD drifter), we all want to get a better driving experience on this cheap car.
Then, maybe, a second drifter will come, who knows ?😉
...and a third...and a fourth...and...and...and. :)
Great content
please do the electronics swap!!!! just ordered the rx7 and i wanna build mine based on your vids. keep up the good work :)
Thanks! I am looking into it now.
I have this one too and its too is good and turns to great with the cheap external gyro.
Yes! A gyro upgrade is certainly in order!
My fav settings are 75% throttle and 50-75 gyro. Makes it way more predictable and easier to modulate the throttle. Both my rx7s had the same issue with the front. Ended up being the torsion wire not in place along with the threaded rod binding up like yours
Interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Yessss upgrade one 💯💯💯💯💯💯🔥
Great video! Like owning a low budget end slightly bigger drift mini z.
Yes! And I think easier to work on and better performing than the Mini-Z as well!
I def vote to see a full brushless build
This is so cool and I love the look. I always see these videos on cheap rc drift cars called like slidey boys and turbo drifts. Could you make a review on these because I always wonder if the cars they are drop shipping are any good?
Those look like they can be fun - but hard to suggest such a small carfor that price. These LDRC cars have much more potential with future upgrades than the smaller cars.
Ok. Thanks for the help. Hopefully I can get something like this and play around with it
I got the RX-7… so far painted it gunmetal grey and put a bigger motor in it! Also wired the fog lights
I am interested to hear what motor you went with!
Dying to see how you swap the electronics stuffs. Thank you.
Would like to see one of those with the upgraded electronics cool cars for sure
I'm thinking about it now!
Just ordered 3 ❤
did they come?
Hi, FYI, if it's like the RX-7, you only need to unscrew the 2 back screws to remove the body.
Thanks for the tip!
Hello. I changed the Esc today. Swapped the receiver and transmitter for a Noble NB4+, also installed an Afrc GYS-2 V4 servo and a Surpass Hobby Digital Servo 9G, but the wheels wobble a lot. I have the AE86 by the way. 🤙🏻
Wheel wobble is typically caused by the gyro. You will need to either 1) turn the gyro gain down until the wobble goes away, or 2) swap to a higher-end gyro that has dampening built-in.
@@RoadsideRC Okay…thanks for the reply.
Love the sweater
Thanks! I am Captain America's fat cousin! :)
Full electrics swap brother, would like to do the same, so will stay tuned 🫰🏻
Would love to see a full electronics swap!
Sad side note, the nsx seems to have been discontinued 😢
Oh boo! Keep an eye out though - they seem to come in and out of stock.
Would be really nice to see aftermarket oiled shocks installation kit with these, and maybe the gyro stutter worked out in the future by the maker. That would make it almost impossible not to buy.
Agree - but it is hard to ask for more at $60...
Is it possible to swap wheels on them? I was looking for some higher quality tires to swap on them
I have not found any aftermarket wheels that fit it.
Yes. Uppgrade ... transmitter and reciver with gyro combo. (cheap). its also a demper and spring kit for these cars....
Yes! You are right!
I bought the CT-8 from RLAARLO but I can make the receiver to turn on. How did you wire it?
How do you get a drift car go on the inside of a circle than get to go to the outside of the circle and viscera? Like you did at the end of the video. Throttle? Thanks
It is all about the throttle and steering control. You can open or close the steering slightly (VERY slightly) and change the throttle position a little.
Another channel shows the a86p doesn't have as high turning angle as the Ld1802 unless real modifications are made to the stealing linkage or front suspension (not just out of the box adjustments).
Interesting! I wonder if that is the 1st generation of this platform.
Would love to see a fully converted chassis to see what the car is capable of with decent electrics thrown in.
I'm thinking about it right now!
hello there , just sent for the Mazda, could you tell me where you got the graphics from ?
I got the livery set from SticklabelRC. You can find him on Facebook.
Yea
Yes please 🙏🏽 i do want know the max add ons
okay but the product is discontinued on Temu so where do i buy that rc car ?
It is still on TEMU, perhaps just other another posting.
No way, I've started with RedCat already ))
Personally, I like the NSX body as-is, so I wouldn't lut a wrap or anything on it. I would, however, modify the crap out of the electronics lol. Would be interesting to see how much it would cost to make it comp spec, if possible.
Ooohhh. Fun idea.
To get the absolute most out of them, I think a modified front alignment would really be needed. It has good angle - but not really quite enough.
Fun thought!
Im really considering getting one of these but i just found a 1899 model thats a R34 but i cant find anything on it's performance :/
That one was JUST released. I haven't seen any driving videos of it yet.
I saw a video saying that the R34 was about 4x heavier than these ones and felt underpowered
Just got my nsx a couple weeks ago and I'm looking to add a couple things to it, any suggestions...?
First upgrade would be a proper gyro: ua-cam.com/video/SOutWNeWN2w/v-deo.html
Any chance you could share the wheelbase and track width?
Hi!
Sorry for the delay, I have been traveling.
Wheelbase: 135mm
Track width: 100mm
awesome video.😊
Thank you!
Just like the rx7, no need to remove front screws. Remove the rear screws and the front slides into the bumper 😉.
Ha! Thanks for the tip!
Hi, will the LDRC Skyline help me learn drifting? I don't have space at home to practice indoors with a 1/10 scale. Or can I drift outdoors with a 1/10 scale? Thanks for any info!
This car behaves a lot like a 1:10 - which is unique in smaller scale. If your space is less than a 1-car garage space, then I think you will have a blast.
@@RoadsideRC Thanks for the info Troy! I'm Brook. Yeah, I have a tiny apartment, lol. There is a local track here in San Antonio, Drift Away, at RCHQ. I'm going to pull the trigger on a 1:10 in a few days, but I think this little guy will help me practice at home.
thank you for your great review its appreciated very much.i click on your video to check if the LD1803 has a honda nsx because on the web site it did not say what brand and model car i was looking at i am buying. because i collect diecast model cars i dont collect remote control cars but because the body looked so similar to a diecast model well detail.i would probably have to pay $200.00 to $300.00 australian dollars for a diecast model but the detail in your video was so good and you to all so mention how good the detail was and watching your video to the end got be interested in playing around as a drift car,so because of how good you explained the adjustment you made to handle better.(our video made me very interested in doing some drifting when i received my model )so thank you so much for your great review and mentioning which model car match to the model number on the box ld1803 is a honda nsx and ld1802 is the mazda rx7.congratulations on doing such a great job at explaining how to fix model to handle better
Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate that.

it says it was discontinued, can i trust other ones from temu
There are other options that are similar - just carefully check the specs.

My son has wanted to get into drifting, thinking about getting one of these for him without spending MST money. Where can I pick up the red & white course marker/barrier thingys that you have?
Hi there!
You can 3D print them - I created the files and shared them for free:

@@RoadsideRCThanks! But dang it no printer. Some day…
Our library system has a Maker Space with 3D printers (laser engraver etc.) that only charge material cost. Check your community for a similar resource, hope this helps.
@@fredlong7870 I’ll check it out.
Been out of RC for a while ... Question . Frequency.. can you run two of these at the same time or would there be a conflict ?
Thanks
All modern radios are 2.4GHz and have specific communication protocol. You can run 100 of these, at the same time, without an issue.
@@RoadsideRC nice, no more switching chip sets like we used to do
any one else having the issue where the links say the items are discontinued?
They seem to come in and out of stock rather quickly. Check back in about a week and I bet they will be there.
Hi sir good day! Is the car metal body?
Hello. Both of these are plastic bodies.
Has anyone gotten complaints from noise in an apartment? I live on an upper floor and I worry the plastic wheels will be too loud on the hardwood.
Yes! It can be loud. Depends on how the building was made.
@RoadsideRC luckily it's an old hotel from 1910 woth concrete between floors, so I'm hoping to be ok, if not we have a parking garage in the basement. Looking forward to getting into the hobby, we appreciate your videos!
@@codylamb7760 Sounds like that might work. Good luck!
Where did you get those stickers?
They are from SticklabelRC - you can find them on Facebook.
They added a mx5 or miata. Ordered one of those.
Looks like they added a new controller.
Yes! It might be good!
I think the ldrc red ae86 v2 has a better gyro and comes with rubber tires too
Supposedly both of these are the v2 models - and neither came with rubber tires.
@@RoadsideRC well that's why I wanna buy the red ae86 one in case if I wanna tune it for racing instead of drifting
@@rexx8887 can confirm. I got a LDRC 1802 Red AE86 a couple weeks ago and it comes with an additional set of tires. If you look at the mounting locations of the rear lower control arms too you'll see a reinforcement "border" on the chassis itself AND there's a connecting reinforcement plate on the chassis between the front lower control arms. That's a giveaway that it's a "v2" variant of the 1802, which appears to only come as the Red AE86 currently. It looks like Troy's grey 1802 in the video has the rear reinforcement but not the front connector plate. (crazy how the manufacturers sneakily do these things and don't state the differences in listings"
@@rexx8887 see my latest EDIT to my previous comment (mentioning the existence of a front lower control arms connector plate also being a sign the car is a v2), but yeah you'll have fun with it.
Where can I get some drift liveries?
I got this one from sticklabelRC
Troy, the link leads to a discontinued page
EDIT: Second click worked!
I was watching it go and that gyro is ACTIVE
Yes it is! I upgraded the gyro on the white car - made a huge improvement.
I wanna see a motor and gearbox upgrade since ive done everything else hahaha
I'm curious - what did you use?
@@RoadsideRC DDF350
BL3F
GT55 gyro
Surpass hobby 9g
full electronics please
I am specing some parts out now!
Do the electronics swap!
I have the AE86, 2 models red, and white from the brand AMEWI and doesn't have the gyro. Also I can't drift at all with this model. I wonder all the people that drift with rc cars, they drift with a gyro installed or not at all gyro. I see that is not possible to drift without gyro and is disappointing. Still I like this model but if I could drift without gyro it would me awesome but I don't think I will ever make it.
Yes - the gyro is very important. Mandatory to have one. Without a gyro, the drifting will be impossible.
Upgrade the heck out of it
If you gonna change the electronics, please try to get cheap/budget ones 😅
I don't know if I will. I will certainly keep budget in mind - but just because the chassis is cheap doesn't mean the upgrades need to be.
I have found that getting the RIGHT electronics is 100% worth it over getting poor performing ones.
Today i bougt the rx7 now i just have to wait this will be the longest month in my life😭😭😭
:) Yes - it will test our patience.
Just upgrade the servos
Hmm. I think I want to go deeper than that.
@@RoadsideRC just start from there and progress from that point
Same chassis as the Trueno on Aliexpress for 40 bucks with tax.
Yes! But you need to be careful. They don't all have the same electronics in them.
This isn’t a good way to get your friends into it. It’s a good way to get your friends hooked on it and then they have thousands of dollars in pro set ups because you got them addicted lol
Ha! Just the gateway! :)
Everything is obviously gonna be the same for suspension and chassis. . No clue who’s asking such a dumb question. The only difference might be the weight of the body to change drifting characteristics
There are multiple variants of these cars. They come with vastly different electronics. That is why others asked me.. and then I also asked, "such a dumb question".
Thanks for your help!
1/18 tho? I'll stay with 1/10
I have both!
You would be surprised how many folks ask me about smaller scale
On amazon their product page is dodgy. Not showing and confusing you whats actually in the box thats why I bought the wrong item. There is a product page that tells you the gyro version but dont show you the chasis. So on and so forth. So its a hassle to buy and find out what you got. But you do you boo boo with all the bag of problems it comes with. They almost had it.
This is what I have heard - depending on where you buy it from, it comes equipped very differently.
I truly believe that all this small scale stuff exists purely to increase the prices of all things 1/10.
That is interesting...
Seems a little contrived across many manufacturers to be true...
Looks pretty "toy grade" even for $60 most UA-cam better off saving a few more dollars and picking up a Red Cat.
$60 is VERY cheap. Hard to expect more than this for that price.
I agree that 1:10 is better for lost folks - but this is a great way to get a taste of drifting.
guess get what you pay for for you though guess modifications will be done
