      Lisa Capen Quilts like you said if I would apply myself I could do it. Thing is quite a while ago I tried it and did everything possible wrong so to be honest I I don’t think I am interested in going down that road. Lol! Maybe one day...nah I can’t see it happening. Lol! Lol! I’ll just watch you and enjoy it through you.

    Great job explaining that. I used the same technique on cheerleader uniforms tops and other small items. I never never used interfacing on my t shirt quilts. I made about 200 last year.

      I dont think I would use glue anywhere on my quilts. I top stitch around neck and armholes

    • @TheQuiltmakerHomestead
      @TheQuiltmakerHomestead  5 років тому +2

      The glue washes right out, and when heat set with an iron...its all dry before going to the sewing machine. I used to not stabilize my shirts either.....i like the light control if the Pellon P44 fusible though...and it makes it easier....for me anyways :) before...my raw edges of the shirts would curl up....I thought that was so frustrating hahaaa

      I have worked with tshirt knit for many years, I guess It doesnt bother me anymore but I can see where it would be annoying. Lol

    Love your videos. Simple and very helpful. I sent a message to you on your Etsy shop, for I have a problem with some of my granddaughters tee shirts and don't know how I can fix them to make a quilt with them.The numbers are flaking off and they all are different colors. Have tried some fabric paints, but some numbers are different greens, etc,so fabric paints do not match. I did send you a image on your Etsy store, but do not if you got it. Any suggestions? Thanks

    I have another question dear friend! I’ve had to cut some of my smaller shirts into the arm seam. When I do that I get a lot of bulk, especially on some sweatshirts. Then with that bulk it’s hard to nest those seams when sewing. How do you deal with that bulkiness? I absolutely love your videos. You have covered about every problem I’ve come up against. Love you dear friend.❤️

    • @TheQuiltmakerHomestead
      @TheQuiltmakerHomestead  4 роки тому

      I know EXACTLY what you are talking about :) sometimes....it just can't be avoided and it is what it is. When this happens, sewing that seam, GO SLOW. Hopefully the bulkiness of it will sink into the batting when the quilt is layered. Now, if you can cut the block smaller by chance DO IT...even adding a cotton fabric border to make the block bigger and to the right size will help avoid the much dreaded armpit seams lol

    • @barbaracorry3619
      @barbaracorry3619 4 роки тому

      Lisa Capen Quilts I just finished one and because of the print I had to make the blocks 16”. Some of her shirts were so small I did that exact thing and put them on their own piece of fabric. My problem was a heavy sweatshirt with Pockets which is fine but the seams were so bulky. I didn’t know if there was any way to cut that bulkiness down. Some seams I just can’t nest. Like you said, it is what it is. Most people if they aren’t quilters don’t even notice, but it sticks out to me like a sore thumb. Thank you for all your blessed help! Love you dear friend.

    😲😲😲😲 if I could only go back in time before I hacked up my tshirts 🤦
    Would this work on shirts that already have interfacing on it?

    • @TheQuiltmakerHomestead
      @TheQuiltmakerHomestead  5 років тому

      hmmm......I'm not really sure how that would work if you've already added the stabilizer.....????? Sorry I didn't post this video sooner...but maybe it'll help out in your next quilt project :)
